There are more than a thousand tulips. And roses - those are already difficult to account for. So many varieties that even connoisseurs begin to wander in this splendor, as in a dense forest. At the same time, we know very little about the life of gladioli and other flowers. Who can say, for example, for whom is the smell of fragrant tobacco that opens its white phonographs at sunset? I asked flower growers, agronomists, just biologists - no one gave an answer. There are thousands of such questions. And one should know. Why does one flower disappear if it is plucked in armfuls, while the other remains? Why are some "difficult" plants not amenable to cultivation - steppe adonis or modest northern orchids?
Poppies are made for the North. The gloomy black and white Arctic is instantly transformed as the yellow poppies bloom. Icy Svalbard. 80th degree latitude. And the Pole is just a stone's throw away. And the poppies are blooming! Even further away is Franz Josef Land. 82nd degree. The last glimpses of life. And the poppies are blooming! Huge frozen Greenland.
