So: take Hercules pepper. This is a late-ripening variety. I plant them in the greenhouse around May 15th. We read: planting 8-10 week old seedlings. By the time of planting, the seedlings are already blooming. We count from May 15, 8-10 weeks ago. It turns out March 6 - March 20.
Pharaoh pepper is an even earlier variety.
I sow all the peppers on March 10th. During this time, the days get longer and there are many sunny days in the month of March. (I put boxes with seeds on the battery, first a book, then a box on it, they need at least 25 degrees for germination, they sprout together on 4-5 days).
In this case, the seedlings grow stocky, the leaves are dark green, that is, the process of photosynthesis is going with a bang. The neighbor used to sow very early too, in January. She made them light, but her windowsills are cold at this time, there is little sun. She came to me at the end of April and said: what are you? before me something sowed and was silent ..
My long-term conclusion: the sown in March will catch up with the growth of the January ones, and the weak ones in January, slow down development and this, of course, affects the harvest.
But I repeat once again: this is my purely personal opinion.
