Write what kind of tomatoes are fruitful and not confusing (varieties
I had my own seed shop in St. Petersburg for 10 years), so I know a lot about them. But everyone has their own conditions and climatic and greenhouses are different, everyone has their own tastes, so here it tastes like color ... personally, I always plant La-la-fa, Valya, Pink miracle, and with others every year I experiment, I plant new ones ...
As for the cherry varieties, last year I planted 2 varieties-one Thumbelina, straight honey ones, by the way, they are not very high, by the way, they were not one and a half meters, well, they weren’t in any way, and I bought the second one from Johnsons, Summer Dream, Holland, so they turned out to be outright sour ...
Ksyushenka, Loksa, girlfriend, yes, hto would argue tA, each of us has our own rules, let us conduct an investigative experiment, you will put me in your time, I will sit in mine and observe)))) and exchange information and pictures our favorites), maybe I'll switch to your method or you to mine without any additional lighting, though my room for growing seedlings is very bright. My husband picks green tomatoes only at the end of September. We noticed the injustice - I grow, and he collects, I like cucumbers more.
This time I bought hyacinth beans for the first time, saw how they grow in people, and I will try.

Lyudochka, do not despair, until you ascend, put it on the stove, make a mini-greenhouse, put a warm foam pad on the windowsill and you will succeed !!!

Girls, since you have a conversation about seedlings here - tell me, please, a novice gardener :-) Before there was NEVER a vegetable garden, but now we have moved to the village, I will plant! (but I can't)
Here I plant the seeds for seedlings, cover them with foil, but where to put them? As I understand it, you need warmth and light? If there is no opportunity at the window, then you need a light? How many hours?
Loksa
Lingauntil it has sprouted into a dark-warm, how to hatch more than 50% on a light-warm. As for the backlight, it is more difficult, depending on which window, what is growing, etc.

Checkmark, thanks! I will not despair. I always have a backup seedling - from neighbors or relatives. Last season I forgot to bolt the door to the greenhouse. The wind opened this door. Our greenhouse is located behind the fence, where chickens roam freely. We were in the house, and the chickens came in and ran for 2 hours there. All the seedlings that had taken root were buried with mulch and earth. I dug something out, transplanted something. And all the same, all the newly planted seedlings caught up with the dug up sprouts. Was with a good harvest. So, even then I didn't really despair.

I plant seedlings in early March according to the lunar calendar and only early maturing varieties in total. While there were no blunders. Tomatoes are only determinate, although my greenhouse is "arrow" (large and high). And now I will boast about my baguettes and batard (I also took a picture of how I make cuts):

Oksana, thanks for the answer. As for the window - I don't have a window sill here, but you can only find a comfortable place near the wall. It turns out that the backlight needs to be turned on for the whole day. And at what time to turn off? (i.e. how many hours should the seedlings be exposed to light?)
Lina, thanks for the photo with the knife! I kept racking my head where to find such a sharp knife, but the answer is very simple)))
Loksa
I turn on from 9-00 to 19-00, this is now for me, then I add 1 hour per month, but on my window. It is necessary to supplement the lighting a little in the morning and a little in the evening, but for me it was not enough, the window is oriented to the northwest, so I decided to supplement it all day. Like morning earlier, evening longer, and in the afternoon, let them have "sunnier". And I have a special LED-color backlight. But delving into this topic, I realized that at my level, white supplementary lighting would be enough. Stretches need both red and blue and a little green and so on. So I'm going to buy some more white lamps. Illuminated with fluorescent lamps + import. The lamp for plants is purely our Ilyich's lamp. Now I am illuminating with LEDs - they eat less and a lot of light: I take a cold glow, it is brighter, although a warm glow is more pleasant for the eyes. It is better to put the seedlings on a white color (paper, sheet) and depict the same type of white screen from the sides.
Linga
Oksana, thanks! We will experiment)))
natushka
Loksa, LED Strip Light? What marking does it have (K, Lm)?
Galina Iv.
Girls, we are here with Oksana (Loksa) butted expressed their opinions on the timing of sowing, so we then came to discoveries - my window faces the south-west, where there is a lot of light until sunset, and Oksana's is north. The timing and presence of backlight depend on this. So everyone has a purely individual!
Lyudochka, according to your advice, I put a big bag in the morning
Elena Kadiewa
Inga, I didn’t think about seedlings before, when I took and went to the dacha, I bought it, and then my neighbor (sorry, she moved to Tomsk last year, a good person, I really miss her) persuaded me to try to plant it myself, so I later I distributed these seedlings, which, however, I am doing now, it is a pity to throw them away. But I don't really bother with the backlight, however, I have 2 large light windows and I put a folding table near one of them. but then I really like to watch the raspberries, wait until they hatch, and then talk to them (my husband grinned at first), enjoy every little thing. Oh, I remembered, I already wanted to do it, I’ll go at least pick up the seeds.

And my windows face south (5 pieces). There are also western ones - 2 windows. So you need to sow seedlings like yours, a tick for peppers in February, and for tomatoes in March?

Oh, deceive ... I just got back from a walk. I barely crawled out onto our highway - everything was covered with snow. And the road is not cleaned at all. I could barely move my legs - they disperse in the snow. So, I won't crawl to you - for sure.

Girls, I baked bread yesterday according to my mother's recipe. I ate in the evening. The taste is super. Soft, small holes. True for a long time, then yeast, then flour. Baking white. So I think when I write a recipe, there are no pictures

... How to be? Ask for a photo? I don't have my own fotik.

Tonya, ask some neighbor to borrow a camera. Or invite to your place. At least a finished photo is needed to lay out the recipe.

Yes, you can ask young people to take a picture on the phone, they all have modern phones now

Fuh, I'm finally back! Long live a normal computer with a keyboard and a stable Internet! ))
All with the past holidays again.
How interesting it is in Temko, no strength! Already discussing seedlings - generally my dream.

They brought moose, dried mushrooms, herbs from relatives ... Where to shove all this.
Now marinate minced meat on mushroom ravioli with spicy elk. As I know, I will come with a report.

lappl1, in addition to lighting, you need to maintain the temperature so as not to stretch. The windows to the south are just wonderful, there is no need for backlighting, the temperature during the day is not higher than 18, at night it is better to keep it at 10-12 degrees. The seedlings will be strong, not elongated. There is no point in planting early, when the seedlings are pulled out, they are flimsy, they have little strength for fruiting. Peppers are usually planted on February 15, tomatoes, depending on the variety, on March 10-25. Good luck!

natushka, I probably will. Thanks a lot for the tips. I am with you girls, and I am not afraid now. Help if that.
Linadoc
Anastasia, elk is excellent in sous-vide, in Shtebochka on "meat" 0.7 45 minutes with cranberries or, at worst, add cutlets.

Checkmark, smart girl! Tell us about the bread.

Tonya, take a picture for the time being on the phone or someone else's camera, and hint to your friends to give it (now there are a lot of cheap "soap boxes" with very decent results).

Girls, and I grow seedlings on a glassed-in balcony, it goes to the east for me. I don’t light up anything and it’s so great.
Anatolyevna
Maybe I'll ask the girls at work tomorrow. Today I did not ask, everything is after the holidays.

Hi, Nastya ! Welcome back!
Good evening!
Lina, thanks for the advice!
This time we got an odorless, but muscular moose, so we had to use some of the meat for minced meat.
My husband is very fond of spicy, sweet meat, so in a fit of inspiration I made dumplings with mushroom powder, and in addition to onion, carrots, salt-sugar, fenugreek, white pepper and tangerine zest, I added homemade gingerbread seasoning to the moose mince (twisted in chopper orange zest with ground ginger, cardamom, cinnamon, 3 types of peppers, cloves, nutmeg, dried it all, put it in a jar).
I rolled the dough onto plates in a dough rolling machine, cut it into raviolki with the Tescom's zigzag roller (pictured above on the right).
Raviolki were served on a pillow of Peking cabbage, oranges, cucumbers and apples. We washed it down with a glass of dry sherry.
Fall away!
It turned out incredibly tasty !!!

Working photo, not ceremonial - rushed to try it.

Loksa
Linadoc, the best windows for stables are oriental! and on the east balcony this is generally my dream; there is no balcony at all.
natushka, I plant tomatoes until March 8 - the deadline for planting. In order not to overgrow, you can not turn off the supplementary lighting for three days after germination or lower the tempera at night to 10, but at this temperature I will not live to see planting, I am fanatically temperamental. Therefore, I press them with illumination.
No, I don't have an LED strip, I have lamps with special diodes for plants, and they are chosen not by Lumens and Calvin, but by their wavelength, luminescence spectrum, km of window sills. If interested, I can send you a link. The fact is that for the growth of roots (root formation), the predominance of one spectrum is necessary, and for the growth of foliage and fruits, another. Everything is serious there, I simplified it - I was guided by the km of the window sill, the height of the illumination, and the advice of the guys from the forum oh, can I show you a photo of the light, though there is not quite a window, but I recognize all summer residents by the windows

Even some pictures turned over.

yes, I also noticed that it grows best on the east window, even better than on the west one, from the west one has to shoot on the floor, it burns.
I have 2 east windows + loggia
Loksa
Galina Iv., From the south to shoot to the floor?
Linga
Nastia hello! How delicious everything is - I was already envious :-)
And my husband is a conservative in food ... Meat should be salty, dessert - sweet, and combinations - no, no! Once I made a roll - I baked meat with spices: cinnamon, lemon zest and something else (I don't remember the recipe anymore). The whole day I fiddled, pickled, baked, sat down to dinner in the evening - I liked it so much (the taste is interesting), and my husband picked out the meat from everything and gave: Nothing, of course, but I don't eat MEAT WITH CAKE! ... :-(

And I only have a loggia, but glazed, with glass shelves vertically located on the windows, and the orientation (if absolutely accurate) is east-east-south. I have now bloomed there Eschinanthus (all! Flowers about 40!) And the petunia refused to winter and is all green and fresh (soon the buds will go).
Loksa
Linadoc, that's cool! And I love geranium and it does not stretch on my window: daylight is from 11-00 to 15-30, I light up.

Lina, try to save the petunia and draw it in the spring, you won't need to plant it again), and most importantly, you know what kind of petunia you have.
Linadoc
Quote: Galina Iv.
and draw it in the spring,
And I was going in February, because I read that under natural conditions it is cuttings in February, and germinates in March.
Galina Iv.
Lina, if there is a backlight, then it is possible in February, but do not bring it into a warm room, will die, will die, cannot bear dry air, I would not touch her in February, in March (IMHO)
Loksa
Galina Iv.is it buckles? I raised them once, I had enough dancing with them .... when I found out that they needed to be pollinated, and I planted them in a greenhouse by the very light, I was there between the tomatoes. I have seedlings of 2013.
Yes, I also heard that in February it is possible to grow up better. Check mark, and strawberries from seeds in February? I seem to have a favorite month, February. But in petunias I am not special, (you can not listen to me) I grow it from seeds.

On the first - ivy, clematis on the western balcony. There are also herbs. In the last photo, the window is open, but it can be closed simply with a plug and an insulated plug (in cold weather). Everything was personally built (together with my husband, 2 weeks of work after work) from chipboard and a metal profile. In the first photo at the end - this is a steam barrel made of larch (you heat it up, drop essential oils into it and get high) - the husband did it himself.
