Qween what a wonderful cupcake. Please, give a recipe and cooking technology.
Cupcakes in a double boiler are extremely interesting.
Qween
Girls, that I am so, navayala what I came up with. My cupcakes are usually made by eye, I will stand thoughtfully in front of the refrigerator, rummage through the bottom of the barrel and the cake turns out by itself.
It's good that I have a habit, when I bake from what is, always write down what I put in, otherwise I will suddenly really like it, and then try to repeat it later. Now I will write a recipe for this cupcake.

Yes, Cook, I also think baking in a double boiler is extremely interesting.
Qween
Girls, I've already cooked everything in a double boiler! You can be stunned how delicious it turns out - sheer delicacies. I am happy as a child. I tried to take pictures, but they are not very good.

Qween
I forgot to clarify that I got hold of books from Tefal steamers. This is a Klondike yummy. Only the recipes need to be adjusted to our products, well, and there are inaccuracies (like 2 liters of mussels). The main thing is not to get very attached to specifics, but to take an idea and create!

If you are interested, I can share the books (in e-mail).

Infected me Qween a double boiler. Exported from my mother (it was presented to her a couple of years ago, and the poor woman stood in a box). Today I tried to make a souffle in Dr. Otker pudding tins. The top lid (in the mold) is cracked and deformed. Tell me, how can you cook portioned things? In glass beakers? And with what to close?

Cover with cling film.
And you can cook in any dish. I did it in ceramic molds, like cocotte makers.

Cook , and nothing is done to the film ??? I just wondered why such a disaster happened to the plastic lid.
Cook

The film remains as if you just put it on. And with the lid, I did not understand why you did it.
Omela
I didn't understand either. Here is my form:

And here's a cover for it:

It can be seen, however, not very well: on the left it is deformed and cracked in the center. On the right is normal for comparison.

Girls, ripe to purchase a double boiler. Is it worth the candle and which model is better and more reliable? I read reviews on the internet, many praise Brown, and my daughter really likes Philips, the reviews are also very good.
I can not decide.
Omela
Margit You will laugh !!!!! I sat down to answer you and write: "Unfortunately, I can't help you. I have Tefal, I don't even know which model and I'm happy with it." Then she got up and went to see what numbers were drawn! Looked at: BRAUN MultiGourment. And I'm really happy, even though I cooked for the first time today. Everything is simple, concise and convenient!

The cover is plastic, does not keep the temperature. Better to cover with cling film.

Difficult to advise. I have Tefal. The rice basket is very small. I can't bake a cupcake in it. Daughter Brown, I think she's better. I can't say anything about Phillips.
And what about whether you need it ..... I love technology. I use everything I have.
Ernimel
and my daughter really likes Phillips, the reviews are also very good.
Well, I have a Phillips. : hi: The one that everyone likes so much. Taken after the tefal that died its death. Tefal was the simplest, the plastic on it turned out to be terrible, and the timer was dead. However, I wrote all this already above, just when I was choosing a new typewriter - you can have a look at the posts. I am not delighted with Phillips, but not in the sense that it is bad, but in the sense that there is no delight - the model and the model. IMHO - she is highly overrated and overpowered. It is inconvenient to clean - the heating element is closed, and it is not even clear when it is really time to clean. Auto switch to heating is not needed (for me personally, and it does not turn off), "programs" - just setting the time with one button. Beeps very quietly (even sitting next to you you can not always hear). With the declared power more than on the old tefal - the old tefal objectively warmed up faster, for comparison - in the tefal the egg was soft-boiled in 8 minutes, and in 10 minutes it was already steep. I haven't found my favorite consistency on Phillips yet, but even in 10 minutes it turns out almost a "bag", and with half-baked protein.
In short, I just won't recommend it. Although if you like it, you can take it, it will work.

In general terms, the recommendations for choosing are to look and feel / smell plastic, take electronic control (mechanical, with regular use, this is a weak link, it dies and stops ticking).
Margit
In my heart I tend to Brown, but I think later, already in the store, I will definitely decide.
tabity
Margit, I have Brown, I'm very happy!
panteracat
I am also very happy with my Braun FS20 steamer. Although many people say that she looks not modern, but she is very reliable in work. This model is time-tested. And its plastic is of good quality (it will fall, not break). Very easy to clean. It has 2 fairly deep drainage trays for condensation (different for each bowl). Of course, Brown's containers are not transparent and many people think how they will observe the preparation of food in it. But, despite the fact that in other steamers these containers are made of transparent plastic, you still can't see anything when cooking. Since everything is very foggy.
Margit, of course, it's up to you, I just shared my opinion.
Happy shopping to you!

Lina, and what kind of "beast" is this - Luminarkovsky bowls?
Ernimel

everything is perfectly visible there. well, of course, not like through dry plastic, but the condensation flows regularly and abundantly, and you can meditatively stare through the multiple "paths" of drops (if there is absolutely nothing else to do).

But the transparent platy doesn’t dye in ANY way, that is, at all. But the marketing phenomenon of brown from staining has invented a separate brown bowl (well, that is, it just is not so noticeable on it, I suppose - there is only one plastic). And those that are not brown - quite themselves gaining color. Personally, I have nothing against Brown, except that he is too narrow for me - it's not a fact that even a liter jar will fit for sterilization, and certainly not all my "baby" parts (bottles-nipples-breast pump, etc.) will fit in at the same time, not to mention three steam rolls per tier.Well, for its price, you can definitely find something more pleasing to the eye and with buttons ... A typical example of paying for a name, in my opinion - there is nothing to cost so much. And, yes, most importantly - in a regular single-pan steamer too, imagine the tastes don't mix too much, unless, of course, chicken drips from the top pan onto the apple pudding.

and what kind of "beast" is this - Luminarkovsky bowls?
The luminarc has a lot of heat-resistant and microwellable cookware. It is sold, in my opinion, everywhere. Almost the most common brand of tableware. In all ashans it is definitely found.

Good day!
Would you like to join the company?
Tomorrow I will have a double boiler, but for now I am busy looking for interesting and tasty recipes. (the task: to change the diet "without changing the diet", that is, to cook as dietary as possible, keeping the taste and appearance familiar to the family. Oh, how!)
I downloaded an electronic version of "Steamed Dishes. Big Encyclopedia. Gentle and Delicate".
I studied it (I haven't tried it yet), but the recipes by eye are quite executable, and quite interesting.
I'm ready to share. Tell me how to do it technically better? The file is zipped. You need WinDjView to read it.

good day!
I want to share my impressions of the steamers. I have been using a steamer for over 20 years. They were different. The very first, electric, Soviet, is still alive and is with her husband at work. Currently I use 3:
1. in a city apartment: Tefal VS 400131. I like the fact that the fish can be cooked whole, 2 bowls for rice - you can cook 2 different side dishes, there is water topping up during cooking.
Cons - size. very big.
2.in the country: Braun FS20. Like everyone!
3. in a country house with children: Tefal VS 400331. Good! But there is no separate rice bowl. Therefore, I use Luminarka bowls.

This is my question ... There is such a wonderful book by Daria Tsvek "Homemade Pechivo". Anyone tried to make Daria Zvek's pudding in a double boiler? I once tried to just steam it. But, considering that I did not have special dishes for pudding, nothing worked. That is, it was possible. And it even tastes pretty decent, but here's the appearance ... And somehow I didn't try it in a double boiler, it's scary after a failed experiment.
sweetka
I have such a book! I just adore Daria Tsvek. tell me which recipe is specific or write it here, otherwise it's so hard to say ...
Elenka
I've made pudding twice already this recipe, it turns out great! It looks beautiful due to the jam on top. I also made a nut cake, it is smeared with honey and sprinkled with nuts, it looks beautiful and appetizing.
I have PV Brown, she has a rather voluminous bowl for rice, and I "bake" in it.
Sekhmet
I made "Berry pudding with cream"

Just in case, here's the recipe:

1 tbsp. l. strawberry (strawberry) jam
1 tbsp. l. Sahara
5 proteins

Cream:

5 yolks
100 g sugar
0.5 tbsp. milk
vanillin
1 tsp flour

Grind the jam and one protein until white with a spoon in a deep plate. Beat the four squirrels with sugar to form a stiff foam (I usually turn the bowl over, if the whites are well beaten, they stick to the dishes approx. translator ), mix slightly with the cooked mass, transfer to a greased and lightly sprinkled with breadcrumbs form. Cook on a steam bath for 30 minutes.

Prepare the cream like this: Grind the yolks with sugar, vanilla, flour, pour in hot milk, steam over low heat. Once the mixture thickens, refrigerate and pour over the pudding.

If something goes wrong, call me, I translated from the sheet ... I remember that the pudding itself was of some kind of strange color, the cream was ordinary custard jelly. But together it was even delicious.

Wondering how to cook in a double boiler? How many minutes? It's a shame to throw out as many as 5 eggs! I have an old, old Sanurn steamer. She is exactly 11 years old!

Good day! I plan to buy a double boiler ... I scrolled through the topic and did not find a mention of Bork ... Most of all I tend to the Bork F501 model. There are many positive reviews on the net! But, I would like to hear opinions on the forum, which I trust! Who exploited this device - share your experience! I would be glad to any advice!

Scrolled through the topic and found no mention of Bork ...
Probably because everyone has known about this "brand" for a long time. That it is unreasonably expensive and has nothing to do with Germany or anything at all. If you want to spend about 4tyr on a double boiler, then I would look at the same Tefal VS 4003, and a lot of things can be found cheaper.

And more reliable than a "workhorse" Braun FS 20, You won't find it. The plastic does not break when dropped, the steam baskets are easy to clean (no brush needed). Has been working for me almost every day for 5 years.

I have Wraun too. The baskets are just super and each has a pallet, that is, it does not drip from the upper tier, smells do not mix, a large container for cereals, an additional container for cooking colored vegetables.
You can't imagine a better steamer.

I am using this device) and am very satisfied. True, there is not much to compare with, I did not use others, except that a double boiler in a Panasonic multicooker, but there is nothing to compare! Everything is convenient for me) fast steam supply, uniform heating. I cooked fish in it, rice in a special cup (included), vegetables, green vegetables (broccoli, green beans) get what you need, do not boil over, remain green. No mixing of smells was noticed either. Washing is pretty easy. In general, I am as happy with the purchase as an elephant.
And, yes, I didn't like the fact that there is no recipe book, it is not written how many vegetables to cook. Searching on the Internet or guided by the eye.

Here I am writing how it is written on my Braun FS 20. How much to cook by time, and what products.
Vegetables 15 - 45 min
Apples 10 - 15 min
Fish 15 - 35 min
Porridge 35 -50 min
Chicken 25 - 30 min
Eggs 10 - 20 min

I also chose between Bork (I have a lot of Bork and I'm happy) and the vaunted Brown.

But when I came to the store, I was horrified by the antediluvianness of Brown, and at Bork I did not like the rubbing of the details, but I saw the amazing Tefal - Tefal VS 4003, Compact and immediately the question of choice disappeared. - so many convenient devices, everything is thought out - cups: the question of what to make porridge and desserts and other things with sauce, bottoms with handles has disappeared, there is no problem how to get the dish and serve it on the table.

I have been using it for several months and completely switched to cooking in a double boiler.

And what is important for me - it is very conveniently compactly assembled.

At one time, I also really wanted to take Tefal VS 4001, but faced negative reviews on the sites. Yes, and in stores I constantly met this model after the service center. Here, I had to sacrifice beauty for the sake of reliability.
And I have a Bork coffee maker, I have been using it for more than 4 years. It brews delicious coffee, in no way inferior to coffee from coffee machines. That's just a very high price for this "Brand". Although on the outside, Bork looks stylish.
There is a way of life. equipment for beauty, but there is a reliable life. Technics. Here are two in one, very rare.
Hope you are lucky with that.
Natina
Of course, reliability is also important, but how lucky

on the Tefal compact, I have not seen the negative in the internet, by the way.

Bork is not buggy yet. although I agree that the price is high. But I still want convenience and beauty in the kitchen ..

Dear culinary experts
Please help me choose a steamer!

At the moment I stopped at several models:
Gorenje FS 900 W - the price is very affordable, there are many functions, but I don't know anything about quality, reliability and ease of use, there are very few reviews on the Internet

I also looked at TEFAL VC 1002, as well as at the Tefal VS 4003 Steamer - according to reviews, the latter is very good, but the price bites a little. Does it make sense to pay this money for her, is she really that cool ??

Maybe there are some other options (besides brown))

Thank you!!!!

Everything looks just mega !!! And scrambled eggs and desserts!

The only thing - I read in the reviews that this model does not have a bowl for rice ...
Natina
So the bowl is not needed, because rice in small portions (for a side dish) can be cooked in cups, and in large quantities right in trays, they are designed for rice
fronya40
how is it to cook rice in large trays? there are holes?
Qween
fronya40 , there is one container without holes, similar to a bowl, here you can cook cereals.
Natina
The holes are not at the bottom, but at the top of the sides, so the water will not pour out :)

You shouldn't be so! Who likes what. I didn't want a "beautiful" transparent bowl for PV at all, knowing what the transparent plastic turns into over time. To scold something that you do not like is somehow ugly to say the least.

You probably misunderstood me: I wanted to say that many do not like Brown outwardly, but he is at work. Before him there were 2 steamers (which we managed to get rid of safely) - so there is something to compare with. I praised him, I praise him and I will praise him!
