Cupcake in a double boiler

Ingredients

Softened butter 120 g
Sugar 120 grams
Egg 2 pcs
Wheat flour 220 g
Milk 200 g
Baking powder 2 tsp baking powder
Vanillin
Cocoa, dried fruit, zest, cinnamon, apple pieces, etc. 1 tsp (with a pea)

Cooking method

  • This cupcake does not have to be like \ "Zebra / Day and night, etc. \", additives can be any. And every time there will be a different, but very tasty cake.
  • Beat eggs with sugar until foamy, add butter, milk, vanillin. Sift flour and baking powder into this mixture. Now mix gently and add additives. If it's \ "Zebra \", then you need to separate one part of the dough and put cocoa in it, and in the other you can zest or pieces of apples or add nothing. It is not necessary to make a drawing like my cupcake, you can first pour the black dough, and white on it. Then I dip the stick into the dough and make several circular movements - the cut will also be very interesting ..
  • The finished dough is poured into a buttered rice basket - that's how I do it. But, it is quite possible that it will be more convenient for you to cook in a different form. I cover the basket with cling film (such in rolls) and put it to cook in a double boiler.
  • Since I cook the cake with a trailer along with other dishes, in my double boiler it is recommended to put the rice basket in the second tier, which takes longer to cook than the first. Therefore, this cupcake was ready in an hour (maybe earlier, I just have a timer for an hour, but after 40 minutes it was not yet ready at the bottom). If you cook it alone on the ground floor, then the time is reduced by 10 minutes.
  • Check readiness with a match / toothpick, if it is not enough, then you can always add time.
  • Bon Appetit !

Time for preparing:

60 minutes

Qween, thanks a lot for the recipe. Please tell me, do you have a big rice basket? I have it small, I'm afraid all the dough will not fit. I'd like to try cooking in a double boiler.
And another question ... How does a cupcake fly out of this form?
Qween
Cook, you are welcome !

My steamer has a large basket, almost for the entire wire rack, and the same oblong shape. The cupcake flew out in the easiest way, not a bit stuck. If there were no rice baskets, then I would have made in a silicone mold.

Thanks for the answer. I've been thinking about the silicone mold, but I'm afraid I'll ruin it. I don't know what the temperature is in the steamer. Suddenly it will be cooked.
Qween
Cook , it seems to me that the form will not weld.
Cook
Well ..... I'll take a chance, then I'll report back.

Olya, silicone molds can withstand temperatures up to + 260C !!!
Cook

Omela
, I know that the forms can withstand up to 260 degrees, but all the same, it's somehow scary.
Omela
But I don’t .. I’m here, too, was puzzled by baking for a couple .. it remains only to buy a form of the appropriate size and go!

Do not be shy Cook ! Nothing will be for the form, where it gets hotter in the oven.

Girls, thanks for your support !!!!!

After a delicious biscuit, I even tried to make a charlotte in a double boiler. So this recipe is clearly for me.
It's already getting cold, we will try tomorrow. Thanks a lot for the recipe.
By the way, like a biscuit, I made a cupcake in a glass dish for the microwave.I think there will be no problems this time either.
Qween
Buka , to your health!

The silicone mold is not suitable for my steamer. I go scratching my turnips and think about what to put the cupcake into, my hands itch, I really want to bake.
Qween
Cook , in glass cups or cups / bowls!
I have prepared desserts / pastries in this dish four times already. Just make sure that the steam holes are not completely covered. And do not forget to close each glass / bowl with a film.
Qween
And yet, I forgot to add that then the cooking time should be reduced. In a glass of 200 ml, the cake is baked for 20-30 minutes, depending on the fullness.
Cook
Qween , that's an idea !!!!!!!!!!! I have 4 cups. They are something like cocotte makers, but not metal. Tell me, please, but fill them halfway? Once again, thank you very much.
Qween
Cook , you are welcome !
Any food grade material, any thickness is suitable. I even made a potato-meat pie in a large metal bowl. The minced meat was completely cooked in 35 minutes.

Fill the glasses 2/3, no more.

Finally it happened !!!!!!! I baked it !!!!!!
Here is my report.

Cupcake in a double boiler

I stuffed more dough than necessary. There is a little dough left neither here nor there.
Now it's cooling down. We will probably try tomorrow.

Qween , I want to thank you again for the idea and recipe.

My people could not stand it ..... I tried it ....
The cupcake turned out to be very tender, airy and melts in the mouth.
Qween
Cook , great cupcakes turned out! To your health!

Hello. The cupcake turned out, only from the second call) 60 minutes passed - I pulled it out - and it was just liquid inside. I put it on 40 more) It turned out) Very tasty, not even a cake, but the pudding is straight) soufflé) Indeed, in the first hours it smells very strongly of eggs. And the next day, no. Thanks for the recipe)
Qween
Martin , to your health.

Galyusya, good health.

You've been thinking about buying a steamer for so long, and I'm glad that you cook different dishes in it and I'm happy.
Galinka-Malinka
Yes, I am very happy with Anyutka, I regret that I doubted and did not buy a double boiler earlier.
