And what about the meat in the cartoon? Just slices and stew?
In the cartoon, yes - just for stewing, with sprinkles (in my case - 1/2 cans of 200g sour cream with herbs-spices, I add the second part when I already mix). And hold it on heating for 10 minutes - in general it turns out super. and tender, and juicy and does not fall apart into porridge.

Ernimel thanks for the advice, otherwise I have not "made friends" with this unit yet
Ernimel
Yes, get comfortable without problems, I think. I won out, in the original, purely for a child to cook vegetables for complementary foods, but still in use at all. Vegetables of all stripes (both fresh and frozen), steamed cutlets, just chicken with cheese - from everyday, I also made a steam roll (like a long dumpling - khanum is called), if the porridge is only for a child - in a double boiler I also put the flakes to steam for 10 minutes milk. Stuffed peppers turn out great, by the way, but with them I won't understand in any way where I like best - in a double boiler or in a cartoon. In a cartoon it is juicier, it seems, but in a double boiler the taste is more interesting and the pepper comes out harder. And cabbage leaves (for stuffed cabbage, for example) can be steamed. Well, plus - an excellent household sterilizer for cans and in general (I periodically shove nipples and other baby items), where even a three-liter bottle fits if the bottoms are removed from the baskets ...

The bottoms are removed, thanks for the idea about the banks, I live in the summer at the dacha, all the equipment I naturally try to do with me there.

I look at the Phillips Steamer with a FlavorBuster. I don’t know, until I found reviews in Temka. Does anyone have it ?? And then Mom took Brown to the dacha, she doesn't use it there, but she took it away, and I don't want to buy another Brown.

Commercial scam this flavor booster! In the old tefalca I achieved the same effect by throwing spices into a tea strainer and placing it in the middle between the products. Of course, there will not be a particularly persistent aroma, but a slight aftertaste appears ... And I do not like this phillips, I would not take it for myself, if it were not necessary to take urgently to replace the dead one from what was in the media market.
There are a lot of indistinct maintenance, and I have some complaints about performance. Because of one booster, it makes no sense to take it, 200%.

Can you please tell the owners of Brown fs20, if all the water in the steamer boils away, will it automatically turn off? In the presence of a multicooker, I thought that I did not need a double boiler, besides, I have been using a double boiler-insert in the pan (Zepter) for quite a long time, but now twice in a short time I managed to burn the bottom of the saucepan - for various reasons I did not have time to turn off the stove and all the water boiled away, and the saucepan is on fire, and the bottom is all black. Everything is cleaned up well, but still I thought about purchasing email. steamers and opted for Brown fs20, somehow everyone speaks well of her. In tech. characteristics write: "... off timer 60 minutes", "Automatic shutdown".Shutdown timer - as I understand it, this is the cooking time - how much time you set, after so much the steamer will turn off. And the auto shutdown is the case when, for example, there is no water left in the tank, and the steamer turns off by itself? Here is such a stupid question, but in connection with my adventures, I want to clarify this point for myself.

More news from the fields about the miracle Phillips - a handle fell off the lid the other day. She just took it entirely and fell off. Despite the fact that the lid was not dropped, not beaten, washed in the PMM (allowed in the instructions). The handle was there either glued or melted down - white plastic to transparent plastic. And the main bowl, by the way, has decently cracked both along the edges and along the bottom. The steamer has been in use for a little over six months. Penny tefalka (which I now remember almost fondly) did this after a year or more of harsh exploitation (including flights and travel in a suitcase on vacations), at the very end. I thought to glue it, but so far I haven’t come up with something - so that it is safe (after all, food is nearby) and withstand constant humidity and high T. Or I’ll find my husband's small self-tapping screw with a nut and screw it on. In the meantime, I remove the lid with a fork or spoon. Well, it's just that I have one frustration from her ...
Elenka
Melanyushka, I didn't get it, somehow the water did not boil away completely. I don’t skimp on water - I pour it up to the top mark. How will I cook, I promise to conduct a test. Most interesting.
I remembered ... It seems that I had such a thing once that it turned off a little earlier, and there was very little water left in it.
I am very pleased with her! In MV, a double boiler is not enough for me, and the gas also boiled away.
There is no better PV for me. I even bought separators for her separately.
I will definitely try to evaporate the water.
Melanyushka
Elenka69, thanks for your feedback. There is no need to check, I already found the answer on the internet, there really is no thermostat, and if you pour it to the maximum every time, water is enough for 1 hour of operation (the timer won't work anymore, after an hour everything will turn off automatically), and even in this case, a little water remains in the pan. Someone forgot and turned it on without water accidentally - 5-10 minutes of work did not negatively affect the double boiler, but still it is better not to forget, you can ruin the device. The more I look for information on steamers, the more I tend to choose Brown, I looked in the store - I liked that there are two pallets for each level. I will probably take this particular model, and the insert into the pan may come in handy someday - what if the celebration is so crowded, it is very convenient to use all kinds of vegetables for salads, peppers, chicken, etc. in a double boiler ... She is always in demand with me along with cartoons.

And you will do the right thing. No need to chase the brand, beauty, sophistication such as preserving vitamins. In this one (albeit mechanically controlled), everything turns out fine. The main thing is that you can cook several different dishes and the smells do not mix. I share my secret - when I do something fishy in it, I pour a spoonful of lemon juice into a container with water. As a result, I kill two birds with one stone - there is no fishy smell and at the same time the heater is cleared of calcium

Dear forum users and members of the forum!
Tell me, is a steamer much different from a multicooker (rice cooker)? I don't know what to take ... It seems that there is a container for rice in a double boiler, etc. and the principle seems to be the same - steaming ... Or am I mistaken?
What can you cook, for example, in multi that you can't cook in a double boiler and vice versa?
julifera
na2sik

The multicooker is much more versatile!
The only advantage of the steamer is that I can simultaneously cook 2 different independent dishes on different tiers - in just 15-20 minutes.
In a multicooker, there is still one shelf, that is, only one thing.

I would have bought a multicooker first - that's for sure!
If there are not enough steamed dishes from multi - then already think about a double boiler.
All the same, everyone has different needs, suddenly you need steam, diet or something else most of your food.
verylj
Hello. I'm ripe for a double boiler. And I even decided that I would take Braun. Only now modifications without separators are being sold, but I would like to have them. Dear Elenka, where did you buy the spacers?
Elenka
Dear Elenka, where did you buy the spacers?
verylj, I bought the dividers at the AUKRO auction in the sales of steam cookers. New dividers, bought for little money. I have already used it - I liked it. Conveniently!
Unfortunately, you cannot see your country of residence on your profile. This auction is Ukrainian, and there is a similar one in Russia.
verylj
Elenka, thank you very much! : rose: Ukrainian is exactly what I need.
Elenka
verylj, you are welcome! I looked at the seis - there are no separators, but we need to visit, maybe there will be more. By the way, PV can also be bought there cheaper than in the store.
verylj
Yes, I also saw that it is not now. We will visit. And the steamer itself in Technotochka is cheaper. Thanks again.

Hurrah! : bravo: It's done. My beauty Braun F20 is already in place and for only 535 UAH. It fits so well, because it is so compact, and its functionality is all right (why do I need a computer instead of a double boiler). Thank you all for your feedback. You helped me a lot to make the right choice.
Elenka
verylj, congratulations on your successful purchase! tasty and healthy dishes for you!

Congratulations!!!
And there is a function for delaying cooking on it, so that, for example, rice, water can be loaded in the evening, she would turn on herself in the morning and cook rice for breakfast (well, how is a rice cooker, slow cooker)?

But does such a function exist in steamers at all? If so, which ones are there, please share!

I finally made my dream come true - Brown FS20! I took a blender in an online store (mine broke down and I urgently needed a replacement) and at the same time I already bought a double boiler - I dreamed about it so much. I cook a lot for steam, and I have 2 metal ones, with a saucepan. And then such a charm, light, she passed out. I did a test portion - vegetables with chicken breast, everything was cooked just great !!! Well, I'm very happy with my brand new devices!

Well, it must be how it coincides in life
I also went to buy a replacement for a broken blender and at the same time bought the same double boiler (only it was 7-8 years ago, I don't remember exactly)
And I also dreamed about it for a long time, there were no multi-cookers with steamers at that time in nature, but here such a positive
Elenka
Melanyushka, Congratulations! Great choice!
I bought PV after CF, but I'm very happy with it! MV is not quite a decent steamer, in my opinion ...
Melanyushka
Girls, thanks! Positive for sure - 100%, and my purchases found a place in the kitchen right away, so they came to me on time, now the main thing is to let them work for a long time and reliably.

Tell me which steamer from the proposed list is best to give for March 8:
- Philips HD 9140/91
- Tefal VC 300830
- Kenwood FS 460
Brown does not fit in appearance
Melanyushka
Please note that all these steamers do not have trays for each level and the juice from the food being cooked and the fat, respectively, also gets into the compartment with water, which serves to release steam during cooking. When I was choosing a steamer for myself, I shoveled a lot of information on the Internet, read all the reviews that I could find, and only Brown solved this problem better than anyone else - there are pallets for each level, the slots are very convenient, they are very easy to wash from curdled food residues. And the water in the tank is always clean, because it is easy to drain the juice from vegetables and broth from meat products from the tray and it is easy to wash. It is a pity that it does not suit you in appearance - in my opinion, it is the most convenient to use.
Here I found reviews of the Philips HD 9140 steamer: 🔗, well, look on the Internet for reviews of the selected models yourself.
In any case, happy shopping! A steamer is an excellent and necessary gift for any housewife.

Elenka
I also think that Brown is the most comfortable and functional PV. This technique is not for beauty, but for business.
One of Scarlet's models is also arranged, it is an exact copy of Brown. Her bowls are only translucent, and the pallets are light (gray or beige, I don't remember). Inexpensive, but very good. not bad if it lasts a long time, of course.

Girls, please tell me, do you pour purified water into a double boiler or from a tap? I pour the peeled, but scale is formed anyway. Can't steam and pour from the tap?
Melanyushka
I always pour not only peeled, but already boiled from the teapot - this is how I try to save teng from scale, but it still forms, from light gray teng has become somewhat yellowish. So you still need to clean.
Ukka
Lemon will not work ???
Melanyushka
I think quite! Descaling agent, lemon peels are boiling - also helps to clean the heating elements.

This is ideal for stainless steel!
The Brown steamer has a different heating element - a lemon will not help there!

Quinn, I always poured the most seemingly purified water (5-stage filter with reverse osmosis)
Scale was still used on this strange Brown heating element, it is not clear where it came from, since it has not formed in my kettle or thermopot for years !!!

Girls - do not risk it with lemon, I tried it, scale does not come off this type of element!
I tried to wipe off the scale with my finger after boiling with lemon - I got a peeling coating in places of friction, black spots. I spat and don't clean it at all.
Checked 2 times - this was enough for me to stop further experiments

Somewhere I came across the fact that it was some kind of coal coating, a year ago I bought a small Kenwood teapot for work, it has exactly the same bottom with the same coating - rough gray. Naturally, not always the most purified water was poured into it, such stalactites (or stalagmites) formed at the bottom, well, not quite then I drew an analogy with a double boiler and, in great hope, boiled it with citric acid.
I got 25 again - the scum was in place, but I could see it softened, when I tried to wipe it off - the bottom in these places began to climb and turn black.
Spat ... and I don't clean it
Elenka
Strange, but my scale in a double boiler Brown leaves. Sometimes I chase her away with water and vinegar - as the instructions say, he becomes tenacious as new. There are no diffs on the shadow yet.

Can I express my opinion on steamers

My first steamer was BRAUN FS20... I really liked her. We bought it when my son was 6 months old (now he is 4.5 years old). But, unfortunately, it worked for about six months ... it was constantly on my email. cooker under the hood, because I cooked in it every day. One fine day I smelled burning and saw my steamer melting on the stove (my son twisted the knobs on the stove)

Bought a second one PHILIPS HD9120, the one that Flavor Booster. Compared to Brown, she cooked 1.5-2 times longer. As for the flavors, I've tried using dried dill and boiling potatoes. The whole house smelled like dill, but not potatoes.More precisely, it seemed to me that it smelled like potatoes, but for some reason only me (self-hypnosis is a strong thing: once you put dill, it must be) It turned out to be very difficult and tedious to clean it, another heating system (like a coffee maker), as a result, they began to use a double boiler much less often ...

After about 1-2 months, I saw another steamer in the local supermarket, with the same heater as Brown, but electronic, with delayed start and heating, a timer for 90 minutes. I don't remember the company, maybe SILVER CREST, (in this store small household appliances are mainly of this company). Bought Phillips, put it in the closet. She worked for six months and stopped heating, gave it to the store and took the money. I took out my Phillips again. Regarding the heating: it is good if you need to make some more preparations for the table or one of the eaters is very busy and you have to wait. But, you have to be near, because if there is no water in the tank, then it will not heat up accordingly. Timer for 90 minutes, but water boils away in 60 minutes. and it is necessary to top up, as well as drain from the pallet, otherwise it will overflow.

Next, we got Philips, but I didn't really want to use it. decided to buy another, and give Phillips (such a case presented itself), ordered on the Internet KENWOOD FS470... When I opened the box and looked at it, I didn't like it. Very low cups, the heating system is the same as in Philips (i.e. there is a lot of cleaning), and the rice bowl is very small. We decided not to use and give Kenwood to friends, but to use Phillips ourselves (a bowl for rice in Phillips is decent). The friends were happy.

As a result, from now on, we have been using Philips for about 1.5 years. A couple of months ago, the handle on the lid fell off (the same thing happened to someone, but with another Phillips, as far as I remember reading this Temko). Now the timer is closed, it starts up, the steamer heats up, but does not count the time back. You have to keep track of the cooking time. After reading the whole temka, I began to examine the bowls. Indeed, in the first bowl (this one is constantly used) there are cracks near the handles (ears) and in the center. So she doesn't have much time left to live, I suppose.

I began to look for another steamer for myself (remembering my brown and knowing the pluses and minuses of the others) and, lo and behold, I came across a BRAUN FS20 again, though used, but it was used a couple of times (like a new one) and I bought it. Let's see how long it will last ...

About the function of adding water. I always pour water to the maximum. If you need to add water, you will also have to drain it from the pallet, otherwise the pallet will overflow. You will have to disassemble the entire structure and add water directly to the tank will no longer be difficult. IMHO this function is optional.

Comparing Brown and Phillips. Brown's tank is always clean and easy to clean. In Philips, everything flows into the water and it is much more difficult to wash it. For me it was hard labor to wash the tank after cooking meat or vegetables in my uniform. Brown's bowls are also much easier to wash by hand after any meal. Phillips bowls have a lot of small holes, which are almost impossible to wash by hand. The dishwasher also does not always cope, you need to first brush it and then wash it in the dishwasher, especially after the meat. Probably the point is also in the plastic ... Brownovsky is somehow easier to clean.

Forgot to mention another steamer. It is located in Latvia and we use it there when we go on vacation. Purchased in English. ibei well, very cheap. But there are bowls made of soft plastic in it, and when they heat up, they become even softer and very mobile, the lid naturally does not fit well, respectively, the cost of e-mail. energy is higher.

Drinking water is just a saucepan with an insert. You can take whatever you like. Just as you choose your own saucepans.

oh, about three weeks ago in Gipfel I saw ceramic inserts in a steamer with a big discount. I have both a double boiler and a multicooker, so I don't need it, but I liked it, you can put several of them on top of each other on the pan ...
