Clear, Leska.
And I can see the wrong quotes of the word vaunted understood.

When choosing a double boiler, it will not be superfluous to pay attention to whether there is an auto-off function when the water boils off. There is tefal, but there is a fragile mesh in trays (it served for a year without problems), and transparent plastic really becomes cloudy. But if there were no auto shutdown, I think I didn't even know about it

If at the time of buying a steamer I knew about the multicooker, I would have saved significantly

A Nyutka, Or maybe not .
For example, I had a multicooker for more than one year, and not recently bought a double boiler, and we are very happy about that.

In general, I agree. Especially if the children are very young, it is better to cook porridge in a steamer bowl than in a cartoon saucepan with a non-stick coating. Calm down - for sure

My Brown double boiler is only two months old, I like it very much, I use it almost every day, I wonder how I could do without it before.
But I hardly use a slow cooker, although it will soon be a year old.
Elenka
I bought MV, as it were, with the expectation of saving on a double boiler. But I used the basket only 1-2 and understood not that! The "roof" is low in the MV, there is not enough space and scum from boiling forms in the saucepan, but the saucepan is a pity!
So I bought PV Brown! Super! Thorough, thoughtful, style of course "retro", but we are not painted with technology, and we are it, or rather our preparations in it.
By the way, and for my baby's porridge (and not only for her) I have a Milk Cooker, this porridge pot is just perfect!

Good evening, dear members of the forum! Today I bought a Brown fs 20 MultiGourmet steamer. The necessity forced me to take such a step. I was recently diagnosed with diabetes mellitus and had an urgent need to lose weight. I've read that the surest way to do this is by steaming. So I bought a double boiler. I ask the members of the forum for urgent advice. Since with diabetes, most of the products are banned, do not you tell me the recipes for dishes in a double boiler for diabetics. Maybe someone has a similar problem and they have already developed proven and delicious dishes? A big request to share your experience. I look forward to hearing from you.

Good day.
Brown ordered. They will bring it tomorrow. My husband somehow looked at me skeptically and said - I don't care what you cook in - in a saucepan or in a double boiler ... what caused a lot of doubts in my soul ... but will it be tasty? (Horror. Now sleep with this ...
Qween
Martin, I assure you with all responsibility, it will be very tasty. Don't even hesitate.
Martin
Ufff ... it's a little easier, thanks) but I'll worry a little until tomorrow) now I'm sitting thinking - what would I pair for the first time, so as not to be disappointed) Broccoli? potatoes? Fish?
Qween
Wow ... You named everything that you can't imagine tastier.
Make broccoli, potatoes, and fish. Serve with a sauce such as creamy or cheese. Your husband will praise you for your choice.

Qween
Girls, I don't have recipes. All "by eye".

For example:
1. I dissolve the cream in a frying pan, there grated cheese + seasonings and heat until the cheese dissolves.
2. if cold sauce, then sour cream / yogurt + mayonnaise + spices.
3. If you know how to cook processed homemade cheese, then cook according to this principle, just do not drain the whey, but cook with it. Depending on its amount, you can get the structure of a cheese like "Amber", to even more liquid - then it is already a cheese sauce. Seasonings to taste too.
4. Melt the liquid Bechamel sauce + cheese in it + seasonings.

Well, that's it, in a nutshell.
Martin
Thank you) I'll try to pile ... when tomorrow comes (with fear)

Amber type:

0.5 kg - homemade fat cottage cheese
1 pc - egg
100 gr - butter
1 tsp - salt
0.5 tsp - soda

Grind all ingredients with a blender until smooth.
Put the resulting mixture in a water bath.
Cook while stirring, the mass should melt and become stringy (this is about 15-20 minutes)
Transfer the resulting hot mass to molds and close immediately.
Martin
Taaaaaaaak ... got it, filled it, started. Questions immediately arose. She put fish down, vegetables on top. Timer for 35 minutes. The bottom container warmed up pretty quickly. 15 minutes passed, and the transparent lid just fogged up at the top ... is that how it should be? Oh, hello everyone) I'm so nervous ...
Not ... of course, the potatoes are raw ... and the cauliflower is not very good ... I took off the fish, put the vegetables down ...
Ernimel
Martin look if the tiers are tight - does it float somewhere between them? Half an hour even for frozen vegetables and even on the second tier - for the eyes. Another point - so that the products on the bottom do not lie very close, that is, so that the steam has a place to get out, the freer the loading of the lower tiers - the more active the cooking on the upper ones.

And here I am sharing further impressions of using the vaunted-advertised on (especially on HBT) Phillips. After almost 20 minutes, I had wet egg white in my eggs, I had to unzip the tefalk egg cooker from the cabinet and did it in 9 minutes. The cooking time for baby cereal from flakes is 15 minutes minimum against 10 minutes of tefalka. I put all the meat on at least 20 after the children's cutlets with a nut size have been cooked for almost half an hour .... I don't understand how it can have a declared power higher than my ancient primitiveness. It feels like the steam build-up is sooooooo slow. Already for her, I remember with warm joy the cracked-battered tefalka, at least to the last in terms of cooking she had no complaints (even though the plastic cracked and the timer failed). I thought it had something to do with the filthiness of the ten - but even immediately after cleaning it does not feel much easier. In addition (again) it is completely unclear when the heating element is closed - how it cleared up and how overgrown.

In general, I do not like it. The further the more. If it goes on like this, I'll buy myself another unpretentious tefala or some kind of vitek ... maybe I'll even try the one that doesn't have a timer at all (but like an egg cooker - by the volume of water).
Martin
Yeah ... now I realized that I had put it tight. Thanks for the tip.
But all the same, the result was very tasty) I was not disappointed). A potato cut in half is ideal for a side dish. And most importantly, she did not rinse in water) Every day, of course, I will not cook - but I will only cook vegetables in it. Thanks to Qween for the sauce tip. Made cream + parmesan + lemon juice + coarsely ground pepper mixture from the mill + dill. Tomorrow I'll try chicken)
Thank you all and good luck in your culinary creativity)
And for now, the last question. Is plastic from the smell of fish generally washed off? while it still smells ... cupcake does not smell like fish if I do it in the evening?
Leska
Martin, put a slice of lemon or orange in the mold and turn on for a few minutes.
Martin
Thank you)

Hello! Please tell me, how long should beets of medium size (uncut) be boiled in a double boiler?
Natina
Juliferа,

Thanks for the recipe, I'll try!
Tatyana81
Girls, hello everyone! I have a tefal steamer. Often I cook in it, but most of all it helps me out during the harvesting season for the winter. Since I have it 3-tiered --- all sizes of cans are sterilized, empty and with salads, kampots, etc., etc. You put on the timer - and that's it. And most importantly, there is no work with a lot of boiling water.
Milda
Hello everyone! In "Pyaterochka" there is a special offer - a double boiler Supra FSS-301 at a price of 600 rubles.

Maybe someone has this or similar? What do you think? To buy or not to be caught on cheapness? The number is so good: 600.

The easiest way is to type in the model of your steamer in the search bar and look for reviews. Actually, price shouldn't be the main factor. Mom bought a not very expensive Scarlet steamer, and it didn’t work for half a year. The relay has broken. The service center of the store refused to repair it. First, because the case is not under warranty, and then, because there are no spare parts. In the end, my mother bought Braun. We hope for the best. And the service center was just overwhelmed with Scarlet's equipment. That's it.

Thank you, Sekhmet, and did so. Found two reviews - positive. I think that if this company also makes multicooker, then the steamer must be good.

This is not a company, it is a brand. They don't do anything, they order devices from the Chinese and ask "draw our logo on it."
Ordinary oem china. And the usual lottery for this case. Either there were good kind Chinese people who soldered everything in the mind and from normal plastic, or not. Scarlet, by the way, is exactly the same bird.

And the price tag for a mechanical steamer is completely logical - if you look at some Chinese auction, then you can find such good and 300 each, only with delivery our mail can surprise you. Whether to participate in the lottery or not is a matter of taste. Maybe a very, very good job, by the way.
Keti
Hello everyone! Does anyone have such a steamer? Is it called Scarlett-SC-343?
In appearance, a copy of "Brown". What about work?
In my opinion:
Pros - the price is 2 times cheaper than "Brown" and the bowls are not breakable.
Cons - these bowls are made of some kind of soft plastic.

Thanks for the answer.

There is a container for rice and a partition for the bowl.

What about the unusually soft plastic (like bowls)? I read that they can deform from temperature. The girl did not speak?
Elenka
No, it's okay!
Sekhmet
I, of course, do not know how it is with you in the city with spare parts. Mom bought a scarlet steamer, after half a year the mechanical relay just flew out of its nest. At the service center, my mother was told that the breakdown was not guaranteed. They have no spare relays, they don’t have spare parts for the steamer scarlet, wait ... The whole service center is packed with scarlet equipment. There are juicers, bread machines, and steamers. Mom has been trying to get repairs through the consumer protection community for 3 months now. Not that she needed this Drekovskaya steamer, the point, as Mrs. John said, is in more subtle matters.

It's up to you, of course.
Elenka
Once upon a time it is not necessary. Some are lucky, some are not. Scarlet's technique is not entirely reliable, there are many proclamations.
I also wanted to buy Scarlet, because Brown is 2 times more expensive, and I didn't want another model made of transparent plastic. My husband dissuaded me not to pay twice for a double boiler later.
Of course, you need to decide for money.
I have Brown, I am 100% happy with it, I use it often, even "bake" it sometimes.
I bought it in the Metro at a good price, lower than in internet stores.

I used to use a steamer often. Now I make in it only a steam omelet for children and vegetables for vinaigrette, salad. And the bandura takes a decent place ... I thought about such a device as a double boiler for a microwave. Who has one - is it suitable for boiling vegetables or just for puddings and omelets?
sweetka
to be honest, I have no idea how to make puddings and omelets in it, that is the question. many years ago I bought such a plastic steamer for micry, as an experiment. now I can't imagine how vegetables can be cooked differently for vinaigrette. very handy thing!

danuca
Yes? Thank you! means. must be purchased. She's probably not expensive. Why don't you know how to make an omelette in it? I need an omelet, the kids only eat steam.
sweetka
to be honest, somehow I did not think how to make steam omelets in such a device. it is a plastic container with a pasta-type grate at the bottom, under which water is poured. the omelet will leak. Or does it need to be poured into another vessel, which is already in the multicooker and put?
Ernimel

Well, in an ordinary steamer, I personally do in silicone molds. Honestly, I don’t know if they will fit into the microwave, and whether it is generally possible to use household silicone in the microwave.
sweetka
as far as I know, the silicone tolerates microwaves.

I would suggest looking at the steamer recipes on this forum. There are very, very tasty recipes ...

Well, to get a pleasant culinary shock - try steamed hodgepodge, or rather, hodgepodge cabbage. 10-15 minutes - and you have a wonderful steamed and not falling apart cabbage in a frying pan, you can't stew it in life. But now I put the meat for her in the cartoon - so the sauce comes out more and tastier. And before the advent of multi, I did everything in a double boiler - on the lower tier chicken (fillet or thigh fillet) in slices, on the upper tier - cabbage. First, the meat for about 10 minutes, then all together for about 15 minutes, then mix everything in a frying pan, fill it with whatever you like (I usually fill it with sour cream with dill and French herbs) and heat it a little on the stove or just let it stand, "make friends." You can immediately throw part of the dill into the steamer to the cabbage, and a couple of peppercorns. If you are too lazy to mess with chicken or meat - you can use sausages, then put it at the same time - 10-15 minutes will be enough for sausages with a margin.

In general, of all the steam, the most amazing thing for me so far (and I have been with a double boiler for three years now) is cabbage and corn, although most of the vegetables turn out to be much brighter and tastier than when boiling or stewing. Well, I often make steam omelettes.
ttvttv
thanks for the idea
I will definitely try it tomorrow.
And what about the meat in the cartoon? Just slices and stew?
