I want to share more experience storage tomato red

In December, on the 20th, I bought gorgeous red tomatoes on the market, well, so similar to autumn ones, firm, inside red and even in color. From happiness I stole into my goiter so that I bought as much as 2 kg! And expensive! And do not gobble up at once, it will hurt greasy! Yes, and I wanted to save them for the holiday!

And the seller suggested how to preserve them: wrap each tomato in a paper napkin, put it in a cardboard box and store it in a cool place. Thus, tomatoes for sale come to him, he showed me how it is done.

And at home, I did the same: at the bottom of the box I put crumpled sheets of culinary magazines, then tomatoes, each wrapped in its own paper napkin, it turned out two rows of tomatoes (it is no longer necessary that the tomatoes do not crumple under the weight), and on top again the crumpled sheets newspaper and magazine. And then I took the boxes to the balcony, where in winter I have a temperature of about 7-10 * C.
Thus, you can store tomatoes in the refrigerator, preferably in the 00 compartment.

And I kept red tomatoes right up to January 15 !!!! Almost a month !!! I took the last two tomatoes on January 15th. No traces of tomato spoilage were found! Only a few of them began to show spots by the end of storage.

Now I will store ripe and red tomatoes this way! Good way!

Tomatoes for every day, at any time of the season, I store it in the refrigerator in the vegetable box below, and even better in the zero chamber of the refrigerator.
I put them in a box with holes (in a lattice), on the petioles, and cover them on top with pages from a colored magazine (often culinary) and so the tomatoes lie for several days, and even 10 days, it is quite normal

A cucumbers fresh in small quantities, for every day, they like to lie in an open plastic bag, only to be covered from the sides.
Or with tomatoes under the sheets from culinary magazines

But, these are vegetables for every day, in small quantities, and with a short shelf life.

you see - storing industrial and domestic vegetables is not the same

there are no preservatives at home

and tomatoes, like apples, have been reading for a long time, they do not store in the refrigerator, the taste is lost, they are sour enough to keep themselves for some time

I also used to store tomatoes in the refrigerator and could not understand why I bought sweet tomatoes, but I have to eat sour ones. Then I read that tomatoes are not recommended to be stored in the refrigerator, they lose their "tomato" taste. Now I store it at room temperature. Well, I, of course, not on an industrial scale, 1.5 kg. They live quietly for 5 days. And greenhouses, in my opinion, do not deteriorate for weeks at all. Once in winter I had a tomato lying around, it lay for 3 weeks like a new one, so I threw this monster away, since it was dumb to eat it

It also depends on the variety of tomatoes how much will be stored. Our winter varieties lie quietly until April, but their taste is not the same, of course, although the tomatoes from the store at this time are also plastic. But until the New Year, they are quite edible, and then I only use them for cooking.
And we store it in the basement, in the department where the gas boiler is, on the floor - we have a tile, I lay thick cardboard and lay loose tomatoes of different ripeness on it, red ones too, I try to shoot with brushes when it works or with a stalk.
But this year the weather is such that there will be nothing to lay down - they managed to freeze well at low temperatures, and what remains will have to be processed immediately. Yes, and I froze a bucket and a half)
We never wrap it in paper, too much - usually we put 20 buckets.
