Withered tops are better in the freezer, the granules will turn out better, today my son twisted without a freezer, the granules are weak and dry, I put them on fermentation overnight, I will dry them in the morning.

Olesya, as much as an apple tree - 6 - 7 hours, no more. Less is possible.
And the apple tree, yes, gives a very dark color in the infusion. And dry tea is red. I am very glad that you finally saw a rich color.
The plum is also dark. But the apricot is lighter.
Omela
Girls, do not rush the current with slippers, it is healthier to eat the tops. This is just a storehouse of vitamins.
lappl1
No, we will not rush ... Don't be afraid ... I agree about vitamins! And also the beet tops are useful. And delicious in salads and soups! But I had so many carrots planted that you can't eat the tops in a month. I can't cope with the carrot harvest either ... A lot ...
Omela
I change the tops of acorns.)
Shl. I've started drinking green cocktails, so all my thoughts are just where to find greens.)
Gaby
Lyudochka, I read your discussion with Linochka about the garden and mulching, then today I was brought up on the topic of nettle cutlets (sounds cool), so you talked there about feeding some kind of grass that wanders and I had a question, can you advise what literature or poke where, where you can read how to grow vegetables efficiently in the garden. I don't know much about mulching, when I read it with a dark film, they seem to cover strawberries and cut holes for them, But you were talking about plants and newspapers ...
Enlighten me .... my mother lived in the village and I helped her around the garden, and now my mother is gone, and I want to plant it myself, and now I wondered how I can effectively do this when I come only for the weekend.
I want to share my joy, this weekend I cut off cabbage, which I planted myself and removed the beets, brought it home and got a kick that this is what I planted myself, and now I cook from it. They won't understand who you tell in the city - after all, you can buy, but here, when you grew it yourself, it’s such happiness.
lappl1
Where have you been before? I have that tops already buried in the beds.
I do not doubt the benefits. What about the taste? And do you have cocktail recipes? Well, for the future ...

Vika, in my current village life there are now two of my favorite topics - about mulch and tea. I can talk about them for hours. Honor the shifted mulch (in a good sense of the word) comrade. Dyakov on his website 🔗 It was from him that I learned about this method of gardening 3 years ago, applied and now I am trying to involve in my faith everyone who has at least a piece of land. And then I found the site "Forum of summer residents of Ukraine" 🔗 There are also threads dedicated to this topic.
In general, now is the best time to mulch your vegetable garden. Cover all the beds with leaves of wild trees - birch, aspen, linden with a layer of 15 - 20 cm (just not from the forest, as you can bring the seeds of forest weeds that cannot be removed. Better from suburban areas or the city), sprinkle the top with hay or straw so that the wind does not blow away the foliage. And in the spring, without digging, sow directly into the mulch (by cutting it to the ground), plant all the scent. During the season add hay, straw, algae (if any). The result is amazing! First, the soil itself improves. Secondly, weeding and watering work is minimized. And you don't need to loosen it at all after every rain and watering. Well, and thirdly, the smelts do not get sick, they grow huge, juicy, and are not damaged by pests. And what delicious !!!!
And the film is so, it helps more against weeds. but does not give food to plants. And mulch, decomposing right in the beds, nourishes the plants.

I planted and cleaned the beets myself, brought them home and caught the buzz that this is what I planted myself, and now I cook from it. They won't understand who you tell in the city - after all, you can buy, but here, when you grew it yourself, it’s such happiness.
I know what you mean ! I've been catching this buzz for the third year. Although I had lived before in a fruit-berry-vegetable paradise in Kazakhstan, I did not eat such delicious vegetables there.
Vika, start with Dyakov. Ask in the search on his website the topic "mulch" and read his articles. When you open the site, a window will appear with an offer to subscribe to a course on growing carrots. Subscribe to it and read it. It was with this course that I started my life with mulching.
My last work on mulching: the day before yesterday I planted winter garlic, covered it with birch leaves 20 cm thick, with hay on top. Today I covered a place for annual flowers with maple leaves, covered with mowed horseradish leaves. Last week I covered 3 beds with leaves and also covered it with hay. I won't touch garlic in spring. He himself will break through the layer of caked leaves. I'll only touch it next year to dig it out. if it is a dry summer, I will water it a couple of times a month. All! Garlic grows almost the size of a fist!
In the flower garden I will cut a strip for sowing seeds. That's all - the flowers will sprout and grow by themselves, almost without watering and completely without weeds and loosening. The rest of the beds are almost the same.
In general, I can say a lot more. For now, read Dyakov, then the "Forum of summer residents of Ukraine". If anything, ask me, I will answer .. And Dyakov always answers with pleasure.

Ksyusha, eh ... I can then insert emoticons and cry How much good has passed by my gut. One thing is good that it has not disappeared ... Everything is good for the earth. Well, next year I will know that you can drink tops too, and not just tea ...
In the meantime, I will study the materiel - you and Butenko. Thank you, Ksyusha!
Omela
Yeah, study it. I still can't get to hydroponics to study so that I can grow on the windowsill in winter.)

Lord, I also sang songs about the garden there ... In general, Vika, this is such a cool top dressing! Everything grows from her by leaps and bounds! We only do it at the end of May, when the nettle grows. Pour nettle, dandelion (leaves) into the barrel, drip ... More than half. We throw in a few slices of white bread (dried out), a couple of tablespoons of dry yeast, old kefir, sour cream (I wanted to write "to taste") randomly, a glass of old jam, if any, then banana peels ... We put this barrel in a sunny place, but away from where you usually are. I have this barrel behind the fence, near the greenhouse. Just the smell will be .... Unpleasant, to put it mildly. Then pour water, close the lid and leave this chatterbox to ferment for at least a week. After a week, the elixir for the rastuff is ready. We take 1 part of this elixir, dilute it in 10 parts of water and once a week after the main watering we water all the spices. Rod they then, by leaps and bounds! But the smell after watering in the whole village is not weak ... I usually do this after 9 pm, so that people do not interfere with breathing. But I'm not the only one. We all make such a chatterbox.

Try it girls! Immediately another life begins! It turns out that you can rest in the country, and not stand upside down endlessly. The main thing is to find mulch. Autumn leaves save me. Well, hay from the trimmer. I also dry it on the beds.
And I read about hydroponics. Only me, too, is not up to her yet. And it's a good thing ...
Natalishka
Ludmila, and what kind of mulch in summer? And cover the paths between the beds too?
lappl1
Natalishka, I have mulch both in summer and in winter (or rather, before winter). I constantly add it so that the layer is at least 5 cm. After all, it decomposes and the layer decreases. In the spring, I do not remove the mulch, but add more as I mow hay and harvest algae from the pond. I do not put mulch between the beds, as it will be compressed due to constant walking. So the grass grows. If it interferes, then mow with a trimmer. I have half of the beds fenced with boards and flat slate. So it is very good here - this grass does not climb into the garden. We plan to fence all the beds.
Natalishka
Clear. And at our dacha there are new beds every year, there are no partitions.
lappl1
And even where there are no partitions, I have permanent beds. I will put them in order a little in the fall, after harvesting, I will cover them with leaves and hay, and in the spring I don’t dig or form beds ... The ground under leaves and hay is loose and soft.
Natalishka
Ludmila, well, some kind of fiction. The digging and the grass are already bored. There are a lot of fruit trees and we simply burn foliage.
lappl1
I hardly dig. Only if where necessary, I stick the pitchfork and with movements "towards myself - from myself" I loosen the earth. Digging only for potatoes. And fruit leaves are not allowed for mulch. They have only sores with garden plants. I only take birch, aspen, maple and linden. Oak is not allowed, it has some kind of substance that does not work well. But grass is gold for the gardener. I put all of it on the beds. And I'm not afraid if the weeds come out somewhere. if the ground is bare, then the pests have no choice but to eat our vegetables. And with mulch and rare weeds, the problem is solved. A rare pest has a desire to climb under the mulch - it is damp and cold there. So they run to their neighbors, whose beds are bare. On Sunday I talked with a neighbor from whom I take birch and linden leaves. She collected a whole bucket of carrots from the garden, and very small and sick. I have collected 12 buckets of carrots from the same garden bed - large and not damaged. I ask her: "Why are you giving me the leaves? I would fill my beds with them" She replied that she had no time to do this. Yeah ... And I myself was digging a garden with a shovel for 2 days. And at that time I was engaged in tea, baked gingerbread and treated her ... And I also brought her a large bag of garlic, because she did not have a birthmark ... The land is one ... The approach is different ... The harvest is also ...
Something overwhelmed me on the mulch ... And I warned that I could talk about tea and mulch for hours. so sorry if something goes wrong ...
Natalishka
Ludmila, Thank you. You tell it very interestingly. You also need to follow your links and read.
lappl1
Natalia, go, there are many interesting things. For the first year of my gardening, I did not crawl out of these sites ...

Girls, how not to dig if the roots of the wheatgrass are intertwined so that if you do not select the roots during digging, then it is not possible to stick a shovel. You also have to choose the crunchy ones. Now I'm thinking about how to be and sell the garden, it's a pity and there is no strength to dig. Also, bacteria and larvae do not enter with tree leaves? I usually burn them. I also don’t spray trees and shrubs, and sometimes they eat up a lot of crops. Carrots and radishes are spoiled by wireworms.
Elena Kadiewa
I, too, when they took the dacha, shoveled a bunch of literature, then only this began, smart farming, since then I have no compost heaps, only in the fall I fold cards.tops well, and during the summer waste, all the grass goes into mulch, I collect grass even from neighbors and everywhere, everywhere, they laughed at me, but now little pieces of land, compared to what they took, down. I sow siderata, wherever I can stick it in, and leave everything on the ground. In the spring I go through the beds with a flat cutter, and we also don't dig under the potatoes, we make ridges and plant potatoes in them. The neighbors who chuckled and twisted at their temples now come up, ask. And about this cocktail for smelly, they also do not get carried away too much, there is a lot of nitrogen, everything is good in moderation

Girls! No need to brew our tea once! Read the recipe! With the 2nd, 3rd, 4th infusions in our tea, the most useful substances are obtained! This is especially true for Ivan tea. I have so much tea that you can not only brew once, but put 5 - 6 tablespoons of dry tea on a glass! And then, I brew at least 3 times. Because I know the secret - on the 3rd and 4th tea leaves, very useful substances are obtained, which with the first tea leaves could not get into the tea. The first or second year will have to pick up the roots. I no longer have wheatgrass on the potato field - I chose everything. Wheatgrass does not like darkening. Therefore, when mulching, it gradually depletes and is easy to remove.
I wrote that pests do not live under mulch - they are cold and damp there. So the beetles themselves will leave.
And in order not to bring sores, you need not garden leaves, but wild ones - birch, aspen, alder, linden, maple. Nobody starts there ...
The wireworm will only start where there is wheatgrass. No wheatgrass - no wireworm. My first and second years, until I wiped out wheatgrass on potatoes by picking out roots, mulching and siderates, there was also a lot of wireworm. Not a single potato has been damaged by it this year. There are a lot of wheatgrass near the field and I saw wireworms there. And he does not crawl on potatoes. By the way, I was also taught this at the forum of summer residents of Ukraine.

Luda, I do almost the same, but I bring in less culinary delights - chicken manure (autumn-winter, rotted) 1 shovel per 1/2 barrel. I close it with foil and tie it around the barrel. Oxygen penetrates there through the folds of the film, and the stink is not strong. And I also lay out the mulch, just add the tops of tomatoes, cucumbers, beans, pumpkins, cut and doused with boiling water. And on top of the ash from the stove, then grass-leaves-hay. Well, in the spring, right under the mulch and together with the mulch with a flat cutter figachu. Half an hour - and the 10-meter bed is ready.

Linochka, how we "lit up" the topic of mulch! I almost forgot about tea for a while. Moreover, now this topic is relevant for me - I walk around the village and rake autumn leaves. I bring it into the greenhouse and use it as needed. And I also use chicken droppings, only separately it kvash. And then I add to that "elixir". And I also pour ash always and everywhere. In my house there is enough of it - we heat the stove with birch wood all winter. And mulch can be different that is at hand.

Lyudochka, thank you very much about the info about mulch, I have already subscribed to Carrot at Dyakov's at your link, I will study slowly on winter evenings, I also have my own house, I used only 2 year lawn grass in flower beds, I liked it, there are less weeds, but according to your system. .. generally class! It's a pity I didn't have time, winter is on the nose, the leaves can still be collected, but there is nowhere to take hay. It won't work without it, will it? I have already put all the tops in the compost. Lyudochka, another question about fertilizing, can she also fertilize flowers? otherwise I am their lover, I breed a lot. And while the theme of the garden, the parents in their garden in the old-fashioned way buy manure, now there is just a question about buying or not, mainly for potatoes. This year, it is true, they got by with a concentrate of chicken manure (purchased in the store), but dad in the old fashioned way reaches for the novoz, and this is both dear to them, and hard already, the elderly are already. Ksyusha, I'm glad that Dyakov got to ... He speaks business. Thanks to him! I learned everything from him. Itself 3 years ago did not know not only such words, but also how to take a shovel in hand.
And leaves without hay are possible. Sprinkle them with earth a little and they will not go anywhere. At the same time they will rot during the winter. No worse than that manure will be. Even better, because with manure weed seeds and sores are brought into the area. Not to mention the fact that you need to give money for it and then spread it around the garden. I don't use manure at all. Only mulch and infusion of herbs and chicken droppings. I have a free litter from my chickens. Cheap and simple. With the help of mulch during my first gardening season, the soil improved so much that the neighbor was surprised. She knew this land and said that the former mistress always had bad land. even with the manure they had from their own cow. After all, what is manure? This is the same herb, but processed in the stomach of cows. And we have all this right on the garden bed and feeds the plants ...
And I only fertilize the potatoes with ash - when planting in each hole. And then, during the season, I throw in as much hay as I have. I'm not complaining about the harvest. And only I am surprised at its size - I would like to be smaller. Here, yesterday we just washed the food box:

As they say - according to the wishes of the working people, Designer cardboard is quite expensive to buy for our boxes, especially since we need more than one box ... so I propose to make it ourselves.

For work, we need white cardboard, cling film, a paper napkin (with a pattern you like), a piece of gauze (slightly larger than cardboard), an iron and scissors.
