Raspberries are also a medicinal plant. However, the leaf is fermented. I think that bird cherry can be used in a blend to add taste and aroma))
niamka
It may very well be, only it is not known what it will be after fermentation. You have to try.

Fermented bird cherry. She is still alive. Smells like almonds, for an amateur, mix very well with other plants. Not poisonous, there is very little amygdalin in the leaves, and it decomposes completely at temperatures above 50 degrees.

Regarding the medicinal properties of various plants - in a parallel topic. There is information on almost every scent.

I fermented bird cherry, but in country tea, I did not do mono.

And How?))
Elena Kadiewa
Turner, I made it in country tea, there is a bit of almond smell, but very weak, there are also many other leaves.
paramed1
I repeat - mono bird cherry for everybody. I like it, the rest of those who have tried it prefer to mix it with something. This year I will do a little, like irgu.

Girls, hello! I want to thank Lyudmila for the most interesting topic !!! While a beginner in tea, last year, however, I managed to make a little cherry-currant ... dried in an electric dryer. Probably, the temperature there is still insufficient, and the tea turned out to be in color, like green ... now I will dry it in a convection oven. But the smell was! ..
I live in the south of Ukraine, and fireweed does not grow here. So I ordered several roots on an Internet, and planted them back in March. Half of the sprouts came out right away, and some only now ... so don't worry, Ivan Chayushka will not go anywhere, it will sprout ... it's a very cold spring this year ...
But I wonder, can grape leaves be dried? Here they are mainly used for pickling and dolma ...

Has anyone fermented bird cherry?
turner, Sergey, I really liked the bird cherry. Only it is difficult to process - it crumbles in a meat grinder. The taste and aroma of tea is manifested by autumn - almond. I don't recommend trying tea before - I'm not ready yet. I will do a lot this year. And I'll dry the flowers.

Yes, tea in a dryer is not so intense in all its characteristics - taste, color and aroma. So, it's better to dry in the oven.

Sveta, do you mean tea or dried leaves? This is a tea topic, so we hardly talk about dried leaves here. And if you mean tea from grape leaves, then yes, they did. Everyone really likes it. So try it.

Great! So, maybe Natasha will sprout.

Yes, exactly tea. I would never have thought of making "grape tea" in my life ... but it sounds like that! Lyudmila, thanks, I will definitely try!

Greetings to all. Share. Has anyone fermented bird cherry?

I fermented bird cherry. For tea lovers with almond aroma. I miss the strength and color of Ivanushka. This year I will definitely do it. Dad is delighted with this tea, drank all winter, is alive and well. I chopped the leaves in a Bosch combine. Then she rubbed her hands to the juice. Fried in the oven, dried in the dryer. When mixed with other scents, a delicate almond aroma is felt. After winter, the taste of tea became more aromatic, but it did not gain strength.
lappl1
Lesichka, Lena, thanks for the tip on bird cherry! And I, like you, have no strength, but the aroma is felt well. I have done little bird cherry. I didn't really like it at first. And then, in the fall, when I tasted it, it was already too late to do it. This year I will do more, because I didn't have enough. It ended quickly.

LudmilaThank you very much for the detailed instructions.

Here's my question. If it is not clear where the fresh fireweed grows, but it is not too expensive to buy a dried unfermented one, can this dried one be soaked and fermented?
lappl1
Vasiliy, yes ... The question is, of course, interesting .... You know, at all stages of tea production, complex biochemical processes take place, changing the taste and aroma of leaves from herbal to tea. At each stage, temperature, leaf moisture, drying and fermentation time are important. These processes involve microorganisms on the surface of a living, fresh leaf. When drying, the quality of the leaves changes completely. I am not a biochemist, but it seems to me that we can hardly achieve an authentic result by simply soaking dried leaves in water.
You can, of course, try. If possible, I will try to do it.
turner
Quote: Bread
can this dried be soaked and fermented?
Hello everybody. My opinion is that it is impossible. Fermentation as a biochemical process can only take place with a living leaf, even if it is dried. In nature, of course, anything is possible and dry seeds germinate. But in my opinion this is not the case.)))

Lyuda, my first bird cherry went. The scent is on the whole hut and its surroundings)))))))
lappl1
Sergei, class! I'm so glad you started making tea! What kind of tea do you make - loose or granulated? And my advice - when it dries properly, put the hermetically sealed tea in a dark place. And forget about it at least until the fall. And now you can be disappointed, because he has not yet manifested in full force.
turner
Quote: lappl1
! What kind of tea do you make
While granulated))) But the sheet will be required. Raw materials are still not enough. The heat is only just reaching us.))
lappl1
And he did not crumble in a meat grinder? And then last year we did not get granulated bird cherry tea, we all made leaf tea.
turner
Quote: lappl1
And he did not crumble in a meat grinder
I put a very large grate on the meat grinder, but it still spilled over. Although not the same as on the usual grate.)) Tell Lyudmila, did you also do tea in Kazakhstan, or did it come with the move to Russia?))

Sergei, understandably! That means they are crumbling after all. you need to twist them together with something, for example, maple or linden. They are completely neutral. But sticky. It should turn out well.
Quote: Turner
Did you also do tea in Kazakhstan or did it come with the move to Russia?))
Sergei, no, I didn’t do it in Kazakhstan. Firstly, I didn’t know, and secondly, there would be no time - I worked a lot, but here I accidentally started doing it. I saw beautiful flowers in my meadow, asked my neighbor what they were called. When I heard that Ivan was tea, it became very interesting. I got into the Internet for information. I learned that you can ferment tea. I began to study this issue and make tea in parallel. The result was so stunning that I began to tell everyone about it. And here, on the Bread Maker, she laid out the recipe. To be honest, I did not even expect that there would be such a reaction and that such a number of our bakeries would join me.

Sergei, I am very glad that you are with us. and that you are introducing other people to this exciting activity. And I have no doubt that this is now with you for a long time. Having made tea once, it is not possible to stop. So now we will be together.

Luda, fireweed appeared, we have near the pond. In full view of half of the village, I stomped through the thickets of last year's grass to a mound to see what it was turning green near the ground ... So very soon we will run with joyful cries with bags of leaves! And then they drank all the fireweed, and not only we, but also those whom we treated.

Girls! Or maybe you can agree with someone about the exchange of Ivan-tea in the summer (which we don't grow) for those that I can cook, there are cherry, apricot, quince, plum, pear, sweet cherry, irgi, grapes trees.
lappl1
YunnaLast year the girls just started making tea. and, as I know, it was not enough for the whole year. I made a lot of tea, but I also distributed a lot to my family, friends, acquaintances and just good people. I also have very little Ivan-tea left. This year we'll see. Maybe it will.
Yunna
Lyudmila! Thank you! Hopefully everything works out.
Pavlova
Yunna, and if you plant it? Rhizome? I can dig and ship. Or does your area not suit him?
Yunna
Tatyana! I would gladly plant it, I agree to seeds, but now only in the fall. Since our early spring immediately turns into a hot summer. I had a bad experience ordering various seedlings. Only autumn plantings are accepted. If you do not mind, we will continue the topic in the fall. I hope everything works out!

Hello everyone from Krasnoyarsk !! Today I found Ivanushka 60 km from the city, and then only in one place on a hill. Plant height does not exceed 8-10cm.)))
Tricia
Sergei, these sprouts (up to 20 cm), stewed in hot water, taste like asparagus. Delicious and healthy. Only will the hand turn to put such a kid under the knife? Question.

No, what are you)))) In general, in those places that I chose last year's fireweed, large glades. The places are wonderful in general there. Taiga, stream, silence, clean air))) Currants and lingonberries grow along the stream. Found a rosemary. There are a lot of anthills.)))

Yesterday on the site I made a request about the growth of Ivan-tea in the Rostov region, I did not find anything. but there was a website about the sale of Ivan-tea by Yandar LLC in Mari El. I wrote out different 2kg, read the reviews there, but forgot to ask on our website. Maybe there is someone who bought tea, what an impression of despair.
lappl1
Alla, found this site. I read it. Something they make additives in all tea from other herbs. So you won't feel Ivan-tea itself. And in general, not very expensive. I would say very cheap. This is good, otherwise it costs fabulous in almost all Internet stores.
In general, I don't remember being told about this site. And in general, few people wrote about purchased teas. It will be very interesting to know about the impressions.

Girls boys! Today I got Ivan-tea 22-hour fermentation. there is a mark on the box - "Marriage - burned out"
I remembered that after baking bread in the oven, I forgot to switch the heating elements and the temperature. And my tea was roasted properly. I threw out the frankly burnt one, but did not raise her hand on the rest. I put the box away so as not to get upset. And today I opened it. Aroma and taste - the bomb !!!! Drank and herself did not believe that she had created such a tea. But I wanted to throw it all away. Conclusion: we don't throw anything away! Everything will normalize and become very tasty.

Virgins and youth, this is some kind of kick! My Pretzel is now going home from Petrozavodsk to Crimea by car. Somewhere in the area of St. Petersburg, I remembered that I urgently need to dig up ivan tea rhizomes for planting in my garden. I call my own, order, and he cannot remember how the plant looks passes, nowhere people do not know such a flower and like that, let alone fireweed, all the more so.
