I saw the topic, but did not go into details. Today I "packed" stuffed peppers in a milk cooker. And she poured them with fresh tomato juice + water. Now I'm worried - the juice looks like raw, and the peppers are ready. I languish from the moment the water boils, which is between the walls - 30 minutes.

Nat_ka , the liquid does not boil in the milk cooker !!!! here the temperature of the liquid reaches only 96-98 * C - this is not enough for boiling.
Therefore, if the peppers are ready, take them out, and the juice is hot, if it is liquid, you can thicken it with flour or starch.

Actually, I somehow had no idea, to cook such dishes in a milk cooker
If it works out - give here a photo and a description

Success
Nat_ka
Out of fright, I put everything in the cartoon and put it out for half an hour. But the peppers in the milk cooker are ready! If it were not for the juice and the fear that everything will quickly turn sour (heat under 40), then I would have finished them.
Admin

And experience ... son of difficult mistakes ...

But, you do not stray far from this topic, there will still be many interesting things
Nat_ka
I believe it's not for nothing that my milk cooker has been dusty on the shelves and in some rubble of all sorts of unnecessary things for already 20 years!
Elenka
Nat_ka, you? probably a big MV, right? You weren't afraid. that your bath water will boil off?
When I boiled milk for the first time to the bitter end (I was waiting for it to boil), then all the water boiled away. That's why I'm stitching.
For myself, I figured out how to pour water in the process of cooking for a long time - with a syringe!

Or substituting a watering can to the neck - it also turns out
Elenka
There is a watering can in the kit, a small one, inconvenient for topping up, but I didn't think of using a big one! ("Semyon Semyonitch!")
Natusichka
Nat_ka, there was no need to prepare the peppers in MV, because you say that they were already ready. It was only necessary to fry the onions and carrots in a separate bowl (saucepan, frying pan), pour this tomato in which the peppers were prepared and boil it, and then pour the peppers with this gravy. I wrote more than the case itself. Or else it could have been done: make a gravy, as I described, pour it over the (ready-made) peppers and simmer in a milk cooker. This is an even better option.

Natusichka, thanks - a very good idea I'll try to do
Natusichka
Glad to help...

And now the question has arisen? Or maybe in this way you can make stuffed cabbage rolls, for example, in a creamy sauce, or meatballs and other dishes - you need to try
Elenka
Who is ochem, and I'm all about the watering can. It is inconvenient to add water even with a large watering can to a full MV. So in case of a fire, a syringe, and maybe a confectionery.
Admin

But I always have a question - how do I know that the water has already boiled away?
Elenka
Only on a whim ...
You can chat gently with MV and determine if there is water or not by the characteristic splash or its absence. I couldn't think of anything else.
I think that after 30-40 minutes you can pour a little water - there will be no extra.

I will listen and gurgle, in principle, I do so
Irina_hel
girls! Take in your ranks I am now also a proud owner of a milk cooker. I brought it from vacation, tried it this morning, cooked porridge from oatmeal in milk. Delicious!

But I don't have any watering cans in the kit

Stole !!! (joke)
A little watering can in Bergner just fits into my hole. You can choose it arbitrarily.

Huge gratitude Admin for such an inspiring theme.
I also bought and cooked semolina in it today.
How I used to do without her - I can't imagine The necessary thing in the house

If this helps you, then here is a recipe for making condensed milk in a water bath:
1.5 st. Sahara
1.5 st. milk powder
250 ml. whole milk
Cook for 1 hour.
I didn't do it myself. I just added a failed condensed milk from MV. I will wait how you do it!
prascovia
I made condensed milk according to this recipe. The taste, color and density are very good, but the consistency I got as if with small grains. But I had whole milk from the store.
Elenka
Omela, I don't understand, dry milk - 1.5 cups or tablespoons?
Something a lot if in glasses ...
NatalyaN
Glasses.
Elenka
Oh, then I'll cook without him.
Omela
Girls, the recipe is not mine. I copied from the Internet. I didn't do it myself, so I can't say anything!
NatalyaN

Here we have a lot of recipes for making condensed milk, I asked about the peculiarities of cooking in a milk cooker ...
If you try to cook according to this recipe, tell me.
Elenka
Well. Then you can cook and cook all kinds of tasty things in it!
I only have a small one for 1.5 liters.
If I see a big one, I will buy it!

URA-A-A !!!!
So my milk cooker found me, in a completely unexpected place - on the Minskaya metro station, where, in principle, I have never been, but it was blown away by a favorable wind. I go to the subway and see a Bergner dishware store, and I read in this thread that this particular company produces milk cookers - I went in, asked, and ... bought it for 2 liters. I will master and share my impressions.
So, which of the Kiev women is looking for a milk cooker, I throw up another address - the Minskaya metro station, behind Divosvit

rusja, join us!!!! Early September - porridge season begins
rusja
Well, here is my first milk cooked rice porridge with fresh raspberries
Milk cooker - cooking in a water bath

I think that the first pancake turned out to be not lumpy at all, but rather a lush pudding - I took a glass of rice (healthy) for a liter of milk, although I like a thinner one, but for the sake of the purity of the experiment, I decided to see what would come of these proportions.
I poured 250 gr into the spout. water, and once when the fire intensified, he "spat", then on a small one, everything was fine. I would not say that this saucepan from Bergner, some not that, quite decent, I did not notice any special flaws.
Boom to keep experimenting
Admin

Well, the first step has already been taken. We are waiting for more recipes from you!
rusja
Thank you Admin!
By the way, I have two friends in real life with such a beautiful name. One truth is already a grandmother, and the second is a girl, the daughter of a famous journalist.
For these milk brewing purposes I even bought store-bought pasteurized milk 2.5% so I was eager to try it, although we almost never drink it, but only from the market or from a barrel with a tap. It turned out well, but I think it will be even tastier with homemade milk.
Buka
Thank you so much Admin, for having cut a window for me ... I don't even know how to say - comfortable milk brewing, how.
I searched for a long time and bought a milk cooker, though only 1 liter, but I knew that I could not leave without it.
Now boiling milk is almost the most favorite thing. I put it on and went to do my own thing, blooper. I also tried to cook condensed milk, it also turned out to be béchamel sauce for lasagna with one left.
And guests came, so she was generally the highlight of the program. Even my mother-in-law saw such a thing for the first time, I hope after that, I really rose in her eyes.

Buka congratulations
And what different cereals are obtained in it - like a whipped soufflé, airy, and there is no need to interfere, and to stand over the porridge - will not run away and will not burn

Almost every day I start with such porridge, SUPER!

Scarecrow
Admin, it's easier for us. We now have cuckoos where you can set the temperature below 100g.
Buka
The hunt for a 2 liter (or more) milk cooker continues.
Scarecrow, can you tell us more about the cuckoo? I don't know what it is, but I really need it.

This is a mulvarka Kuko 1054. She has one, but a very big drawback - very expensive.

Buka,
a 2-liter milk cooker can be bought in the Bergner crockery stores, they are usually close to the metro, I saw on Minskaya and Petrovka. As well as a 2 liter milk cooker. for UAH 125 I saw it either in Auchan on Petrovka, or in Karavan. In general, they are there and buying them is not a problem!

Natasha, you can But every morning I cook milk porridge in a milk cooker
Especially when porridge is needed for only 300-500 ml. milk
Buka
rusja Can you tell me more about where Bergner's shop is on Petrovka?
I was in Auchan on Petrovka recently - there were no milk cookers. Today I will look at the METRO.
rusja
On Petrovka, in my opinion, when you do not go to the book market, right behind the entrance to the metro
Tanyulya
Rommochka, so what do you think? I bought it today, right on my way to lunch at the hardware store.
Admin

Tanyulya, this is just what you lacked for complete pan happiness
