It's strange, I usually boil a three-liter jar of milk in two passes, half the jar each, 1-2 cm remain to the side.

I have a royalty line milkman. measured in liter jars. 1.5 cans fit in, but a bottle of milk full to the lid does not fit all, 200 ml of milk remains, that is, the milkman is 1.4 liters in fact.
went, poured a full bottle of water and poured it into two liter cans

It is clear, I just thought that you also have Peterhof. Mine is 2 liters to the top exactly.

I bought today just such a milk cooker without a whistle, only it is marked not by Stahlberg, but by Gipfel

I made cocoa in it on agar, but in general I plan for cereals. omelets and creams. And melt the chocolate.

Alexandra, a milk cooker without a lid?
I wonder how to know that the water has boiled away if there is no scroll.
Sometimes I didn't use the whistle - I got tired of it, then I began to put it on, because then the water does not boil so quickly.
If the water boiled away, then the porridge poured over the top and burned.
The milk cooker is beautiful!
Lyalya Toy
No whistle? Strange, but where to pour the water?
Elenka
Well. there is a hole.
Alexandra
A hole in the handle, on top, a hatch opens there, then you can click it.

When the water boils, you can hear it.
Or you can flip off the hatch and see the steam as from the spout of a kettle.

There is also a transparent bubble on the side of the handle, the saleswoman said that the water level is visible in it - but there is no water there, even when I pour it to the eyeballs, only the steam condenses. It seems to me that is why it does not "spit" when it boils, because I filled in a maximum of water.

The bottom container contains 400 ml. No instructions ...

Lids too, not provided - but no problem, I have plenty of glass-top lids.
I liked that it has a thick bottom and keeps warm for a long time. The chocolate can be heated to pour over the candies by removing it from the heat.

Alexandra
Water, as it turned out, includes 700 ml, but with such a filling, the water runs. 600 ml just right

First porridge, rolled oats with fresh fruit

Alexandrahow appetizing !!! And what about cereal or cereal?

And I'm still mowing in the direction of the Teskomovskaya milk cooker, eh ... well, I just can't decide whether I need it or not ...
Alexandra
Little baby, this is oatmeal for 15 minutes

In the morning I ran to the pool, cooked at about 10 in the morning and left it covered with a lid for her own.
Came at 16.30 - porridge is still very warm (the rest). So you can simmer in a saucepan due to the thick bottom.
Alexandra
Made baked milk 0.5% fat in my milk cooker in 3.5 hours. The water has not boiled away.
Interestingly, if you let it cool to 37C and ferment with yogurt, will it work out like a varenets or should you pour it into a yogurt maker or a slow cooker ???

It will work if you wrap it up in a blanket or something warm (directly from the milk pan) and leave it overnight. I do this toko fermented baked milk when there is no yogurt maker. In the morning you get a beautiful dense and beautiful bunch
Alexandra
rusja, thanks for the answer

I turned it off almost at night, so the ferment was too hot.
I put it on a wooden board, as Mikhalov once advised about steaming cereals, so that the heat would be preserved longer, covered with a towel
In the morning at 5.30 I changed the temperature of milk - 41C
Fermented with natural yogurt, 250 g per 2 liters of milk, the temperature became 38C
At 8 am I checked - already yogurt.
I warmed it up a little on the stove, again the temperature of the yogurt became 38C, left it wrapped on a wooden board to make it come out denser

The temperature was measured with a non-contact thermometer-pyrometer, I bought it for tempering chocolate

so boldly not only baked milk, but also yogurt / fermented baked milk / varenets, or as it is called correctly, you can write down the asset of the milk cooker
rusja
Alexandra
interesting experiments
well, and as a result, the fermented baked milk is already ready?
Zhdems
Alexandra
Yes, by 10 in the morning there was already a real dense fermented baked milk
I poured it into a sieve covered with 2 layers of paper napkins and put it in the refrigerator on a saucepan.
This will be melted syuzma - weighed melted yogurt / varenets, I don't know how to say it correctly. Differently - soft melted cottage cheese
rusja
Wow, congratulations
three in one at once - and baked milk and fermented baked milk and soft baked cottage cheese. And you will also do something with it or already eat it
Alexandra
rusja, yes, I specially made it from skim milk - now I have a rather limited choice of food, so I am especially creative in composing recipes

This is an intermediate product, now the final product is in the process - I will unsubscribe as soon as it is ready and I will throw a link to the photo and the recipe

I report:

Milk cooker - cooking in a water bath
Marusya
Girls, after reading the whole topic, I correctly understood that all milk cookers work according to the same principle - a water bath. But still which company is better to buy? Teskogo, Gipfel, Vitesse or ....? Help with the choice.
14anna08
I don’t know how expensive today in deviceaholics Alexandra showed a gorgeous milk cooker with a photo. I'll try to find it now.

I saw it, but I can't find it on the Internet. At least find out the price. She attracted me too. I use dishes from Gipfel and Teskom, so I stare at these companies.
Alexandra
My fifteen hundred was worth, in the Gipfel brand store in the European shopping center

but more expensive than another company

🔗
Marusya
Alexandra, thanks for the link and the answer. Have you used Teskom's milk cooker?
Alexandra
Marusya , I once had an aluminum shovel with a whistle with small children, my husband admitted that just recently he threw it out, since milk was not boiled and semolina has not been cooked since then

And others - no, I did not use
I bought more for melting chocolate, I'm a candy breeder and a truffle expert))) only now is not the season
Well, for delicate creme brulee and English cream where you need to cook in a water bath ...
Marusya
Alexandra, I liked your milk cooker and the link to a similar one. I will search .... I looked at the link, you can order it on the Internet. I don't want to whistle ...
Alexandra
Marusya, I remember that the whistle was very annoying
14anna08
and I liked Alexandra very much, and in the second I did not have enough caps. and the bottom there is also thick, I'll go and look again ...
Alexandra
Anya, mine is also without a lid, a lid from a dipper with a thick bottom of the same company Gipfel came up to her, no problem
Marusya
Indeed, buying a cover separately is not a problem ...
Alexandra
yes, for sure there is a suitable cover on the farm
Marusya
Alexandra, it remains to buy a saucepan !!!
Grypana
Everything, and I was covered - I will buy a milk cooker. Tell me, are there milk cookers in Ikea?
Alexandra

Grypana, there are no milk cookers in Ikea.

Thank you, I already walked around the local site and found out that the Swedish minimalism - they have no harmony, they don't know milk cookers, they don't cook porridge. Let's look.
Another question for tea kettles - I found a milk cooker for an induction cooker, but is it suitable for a gas cooker?

Will do. Drop the reference to the saucepan.
Thank you, I found a detailed description, yes, it really does. The milk cooker is no different like Berhoff, only the company is different and the induction coating is indicated, and then I read it. which is suitable for both electric and gas. Link here - 🔗

Grypana, looked. I don't want to whistle ....

Grypana, looked. I don't want to whistle ....
I met somewhere, Marusya ... But the girls wrote that the whistle can be removed.
There are also no whistles, here you can also see what it looks like, no different, only the absence of a whistle - 🔗
Marusya
Yeah, I looked. It's just a saucepan (ladle) for boiling milk. No double walls. I also like Teskoma
rusja

But the girls wrote that the whistle can be removed.
if you remove the whistle, then the water from the walls will boil much faster, which is not buzzing, and especially if you leave the kitchen, then the casserole can burn because of the boiled liquid.
I got used to putting on the divider, then the whistle is quieter

Hello!
I was tortured to cook porridge and then peel off an aluminum pan. I read this topic and in the store immediately after my question they showed as many as three milkmen for different volumes. I took the largest one with a lid, the other two were half less and without lids.
The price is fabulous 87 UAH. (11 bucks). Really stainless steel (not magnet). The whistle does not twist and fits comfortably into the tightness. The volume to the brim is 2 liters, the top of the scale divisions is 1.6 liters, the divisions exactly correspond to the real volume. The shirt contains 500 ml of water, I pour about 400 ml so that it doesn't run. I decided to pour water from the tap, since the volume is decent between the walls, I will boil scale with lemon.
For comparison, in another store I looked at Teskomovsky milkman, the volume is the same, the lid is more massive, the price is 576 UAH.
So far, I cooked only 3 times, I removed the whistle in the process, it gets on my husband's nerves.
