Miranda! Apparently, this function works differently for different units. I have a Unold Pro Plus 2.5L model and have a freeze mode. When cooking, the ice cream is of medium hardness, when the "freeze" mode is turned on, it turns out to be very hard (do not pull out the blade if you yawn). The mode turns on automatically for 2 hours at the end of the program. This ice cream maker has only three modes - freezing, freezing + stirring, stirring only. Convenient function "pause", to add all sorts of goodies, or to take a sample. Allows you to work at frequent loads with a short break of 15 minutes. I very often now make ice cream without storage when guests come. It is convenient when it freezes in the unit itself without shifting back and forth.
