Ingredients

Butter 75 g
Egg 1 PC.
Salt 0.7 tsp
Sugar 2 tbsp. l.
Dry yeast 5 g (or 2 tsp)
Milk 250 ml
Wheat flour 550 g
Rast. oil 1 tbsp. l.

Cooking method

  • Dissolve dry yeast in warm milk, add sugar and leave in a warm place for 10 minutes.
  • At this time, sift the flour, beat the egg with salt, grate the butter on a coarse grater (just from the refrigerator, do not freeze the butter).

  • Next, we send to the bread maker 500 gr flour, milk (+ yeast and sugar), egg (+ salt), butter. We turn on the "Pelmeni" mode and wait for the dough to be kneaded.

  • Pour very cold water into a large saucepan and carefully lower our kolobok there (in some sources, before lowering the kolobok in water, they recommend placing it in a large plastic bag, with the expectation that the kolobok will fit, but I have not experienced this maneuver myself).
  • In 15-20 minutes our "drowned man" should emerge.
  • We take it out of the water, blot it and send it back to the bread maker, adding the remaining 50 gr flour and vegetable oil. Turn on the "Dumplings" mode again.
  • After the dough is ready, divide it into 5 parts, form the balls and leave them for proofing for 10 minutes. Then we make sausages from each ball and weave a "pigtail".
  • Let it stand for another 15-20 minutes, then grease it with a beaten egg (as an option - an egg with sugar, for a more golden brown crust), sprinkle with sesame seeds and send it to an oven preheated to 200 degrees for 35-40 minutes (until golden brown).

My grandmother taught me how to make a similar bread a few years ago, even before buying a bread machine. The recipe is slightly different without butter, without eggs, and the vegetable is increased to 3 tbsp. l. And I wrap the dough in a clean "bread" rag (this is an ordinary cotton cloth that I use for bread) and put it in a saucepan with cold water, but I didn't know that it was called that.
