Anya, I do not know this "beast". You can try fermenting. I made St. John's wort with fermentation. And his bitterness softened. Each plant is individual, so you have to try.

Bird cherry through the freezer + meat grinder, the result is dry. I tried to twist it with my hands, easily, but started with a meat grinder, began to continue.
Galina, I had the same story with the bird cherry. I withered it a little, so it began to crumble. Then I froze it, rolled the rolls. It was a bit dry anyway. The smell was crazy all the time. After drying, it became weak. But I think it will. Lena-Kubanochka dried her for a long time and she went well through the meat grinder.
Have you withered alder?

Alder has been lying in a bag on the balcony since Sunday and has withered quite a bit.

It's so damp here that it won't wither in a month. And in the package it can rot.

The poet's soul could not bear it ...
I made some apricot tea. The one that through a meat grinder and shamelessly stink of fish, the smell has changed dramatically, I am now a fan of him, it has become so enveloping and fruity, it is the apricot drying that is guessed. But in the brewed form, I have not yet impressed, the color is light greenish, I tried to catch the maximum, it turned out something remotely. Well, this does not bother me, I drank green tea, so I'm used to light. But it is somehow cloudy, there is absolutely no transparency. I still get such a cloudy one with raspberries. The second batch from the freezer, well, today it just dries up in the breeze, when drying in the oven there was also an unpleasant smell, but a little softer than the one through a meat grinder. Now dry, it practically does not smell. In the brewed color and appearance practically did not differ from the previous one, and the taste is almost identical, a pleasant sourness is clearly felt, the taste is very remotely reminiscent of the smell of the first tea. I think that in a month as it is infused, the smell and taste will improve significantly. So, although I wanted to throw it away right away, now I don't regret what I did. For a change, whoever has apricots within reach is definitely worth doing. The main thing is to be prepared for an unpleasant smell when drying.

Strange! Well, why is it muddy with you. Okay, only apricot (not known), but why raspberries? My raspberry tea, even if it crumbled to dust, was not like that. And in general, not a single tea for 3 seasons was cloudy.
I am trying to understand why this happened. Maybe he re-fermented and started to sour? It's hot there. And it takes less time to ferment. What about the rest of the tea? Is there still muddy?
Vladimirovna
Lyudmila, how long does it take to dry the tea in a pillowcase? I have a second day hanging. The houses are hot and dry.
It's not possible to check by touch (I'm at the dacha), only if you give a command to my husband.

I'll take my camera with me and take pictures of all the crazy smells ... And then I'll post it here. Well, you will advise later.
Well, I went to my meadow today to look for these crazy scents. Previously googled about this same TAVOLGA, she's a LABAZNIK. I didn't have to go far - 50 m from the house I met a scent, similar to this meadowsweet. Not very many, a few scattered bushes. The flowers are similar to those in the internet, but the leaf is different. If this is her, then I will go further, to the forest and the river. Only she has such small leaves. I tried to spin, however, not dried - they do not want to spin, they spin. The smell of the leaves was not impressive. Flowers smell better. But I didn't feel a strong aroma, because this morning we had dry hands (before the thunderstorm), maybe that's why?
I read about old meadowsweet - not a plant, but a panacea! The current monks make tea from it and offer to buy it through the Internet.
In general, here is a photo of what I am growing. Galina, Tanya, is she?

No, not re-fermented for sure. Well, of course, raspberries still need to be re-tested, I tried it right away, but now it's worth it, it stands. The rest are all transparent, especially the quince was so straight crystal-amber. Raspberries are certainly not as cloudy as apricots. I was not particularly nervous, I thought we could pass over time. And at work she talked, girl, all the time she just adds herbs to the tea leaves, she said from raspberries it always turns out unclear. So I calmed down. Well, we'll wait and see with the apricot. Of course, it will be better to go not in pure form, but in a mixture to more cloying, rich teas, I think it should be combined with cherries, and you will have to stay there. From all my teas, it gives the greatest sourness, more refreshing.

Eva3Of the three types of raspberry tea that I brewed - simply dried, granulated-crumbly and frozen-rolled, all transparent - you can see this in the photo in the recipe.
Quote: Galina Iv.

Galina, I pour tea with freshly boiled water. And it seems to me that there is simply no water harder than in our well - at least every day boil a kettle with vinegar and citric acid. I ruined all my teapots, samovars, pots for water here in the village.
There is another reason here.

Therefore, 3 years ago we made a conscious decision to leave the metropolis for the countryside.

There is another reason here.
Water through the filter so it is not hard. This is green, I always waited a little for the kettle to cool down or tried to turn it off until it boils, and I poured these teas only with boiled water. I still have an assumption, maybe this is a climatic feature, after all, our climate is drier. 3-4 hours are enough for me to wither the leaves. Well, over time we'll see what and how. For the raspberries I remembered that it was immediately transparent, well, or almost, but it turns cloudy after 15 minutes, if you don't drink it right away.

Oh, this is the most excuse for me! I am a southern girl, warm-loving! So I miss the sun here! 2 weeks ago I went for fireweed in felt boots! And nothing, not fried. And the neighbor came out to meet him in shorts and a T-shirt. She giggled at me, let go of a couple of jokes.
So I'll go a little later, as the sky flies. And the husband will be free. I'm afraid to go far without him - moose, wild boars, foxes are found here. Face the beast, die of fear.

Eva3, it may well be. I picked fireweed this morning, and there was no dew in the morning (dry grass before a thunderstorm), so it dried up in 4 hours. The bag was large and the weight of the leaves was small - less than 1 kg. I just twisted it in a meat grinder, it turned out 2 containers of granules instead of the usual one. So even the weather depends on what kind of tea you get, but here are different regions with their own climatic features.

I dried it for almost 2 hours, the smell was ..., this despite the fact that the viburnum berry can not stand the spirit. for ten minutes, the smell did not go anywhere, but the taste turned out to be bitter, I had to pour a new mug of boiling water and add a little tea leaves (as we usually do with black tea), the bitterness slightly decreased, but did not disappear at all. long aftertaste, I like it. Hello everyone!. I will share what I got. 25.06. laid and raspberries in the freezer for the night. In the morning, one part was ground through a meat grinder. Another rolls. Fermented for 5 hours. The smell was dried fruit. After drying, small tea like in bags, cut into rolls I liked it more. A friend came and tried it, good taste. The color is light, I will have a photo for all the teas later.
Blackberry. Dried for 5 hours. Through a meat grinder. The smell of bird cherry stood. The granules are good.
Blooming Sally . We drank it dried all the time. Harvested in Ridder. And it turned out that we have it. Dried the first time 5 hours. Through a meat grinder and rolls. Minced through a meat grinder. rolls are better. After drying, the smell of tea. Today did he dry all night. Juicy granules Fermented for 5 hours. The smell like the first time I did not hear compote. Drying in progress, tea smell.
Strawberries. Dried. Twisted it with a meat grinder. Not a trifle. I did not understand the smell, something fruity. Pleasant herb taste.
Bird cherry. Dried for 7 hours. I twisted it through a meat grinder, it went dry and wet my hands better. Fermented for 5 hours, the smell was strong floral-fruity. A trifle.

Today I was engaged in irga. Freeze all night. Twisted it. Fermentation 5 hours. The smell of dry cherry berries. Now drying.
I decided to make a leafy strawberry. I plucked some leaves in the forest in the forest. Freeze all night. In the morning I pulled out the dry ones. Walking with a rolling pin did not help. Back in the freezer. After 4 hours I got sick again. I sprinkled a little and wrinkled it with my hands. like cabbage. Now fermented. The smell does not mean anything yet.
Ivan tea today that I made dried, the granules are good, the smell of tea. I haven't tasted it yet, tomorrow.
I'll post the photo as I can, something didn't work out.

Lena, glad that the tea was a success! The main thing is that you like tea. And I do not know how to remove bitterness. She left St. John's wort herself. And I have never done viburnum. Need to try. Bitterness will not frighten me. This tea can be mixed with other tea or brewed lighter.
I looked when Tanya-Burunduchok was last on the site - early in the morning. I wrote to her in a personal. It was reported that there is no connection in Lugansk. Maybe he can't go online? Let us hope for the best.

Larissa, what a pity! But don't throw it away. Close tightly and put away in a dark place. It must be infused. I wrote in the Ivan-tea recipe that if you brew tea immediately after preparation, it may not impress. So it is with this tea, from the leaves of other plants. Must stand on dry fermentation for at least a month. I answered earlier that I didn't like raspberries last year, I wanted to throw them away, but left them. In winter I did not come to her.And this year she surprised me - where did that come from?

Yes, the bird cherry behaved the same way. Very dry and crumbled in a meat grinder. So I froze it and then twisted the rolls. Until I realized whether I like this tea or not. It will become clearer in a month.
Thank you, Lyudmila, for the excellent report, observation and creative approach to the process. Thanks for trusting the recipe. I am sure that by autumn-winter after dry fermentation, tea will delight you! Good luck and new lots of tea!

Another thought came to my mind. Badan (chigir) he himself undergoes fermentation in nature. And the tea from it is cool ... It's a pity we don't have it.
Ludmila, I don't know badan, but I read about this tea - about its natural fermentation.
When I began to ferment the leaves of different plants, I remembered such an incident. Once my husband brought me oregano from the mountains in winter (in January-February). Collected it just like that, said that she was beautiful. I dried them at home in bunches, put them in jars. And I forgot about her. Then I remembered and made some tea. And I could not understand anything - where did this taste, color, smell come from !? It was so delicious and flavorful! Attached to her husband - what kind of oregano is so special? He replied that ordinary oregano - he took it where we usually collect it in the summer. Summer has come. I picked this oregano in the mountains with all my heart. I dried it, put it in jars and a cabinet. And in the winter I was disappointed. Ordinary dried oregano, with that winter and not near ...
And only now I realized that that oregano had undergone natural fermentation in the mountains. There is a lot of sun in the mountains. And in the winter during the day it is very warm - people even sunbathe. During the night, the oregano froze, and during the day it thawed, warmed in the sun. And it became much tastier and more aromatic!
And my village neighbors cut raspberry branches in winter and drink tea from it. When I asked why they didn’t harvest it in the summer, they didn’t dry it, they replied that it wasn’t tasty. But the winter is a completely different matter.
So, when fermenting plant leaves, we practically repeat natural fermentation, only in a short time and using different techniques ...

Good evening everyone! I dried bird cherry and alder today. The bird cherry smell passed, but it crumbled (after a meat grinder), felt a slight smell of burnt sugar. Brewed, disgusting)). I will not throw it away, I will wait. The alder crumbled less, brewed, the color is rich, the taste is slightly sour and tart, you can drink, but I'm not happy.
lappl1
Galina, well, now our darlings have calmed down! I am not delighted with bird cherry tea, but I would not call it disgusting - it was not bright! And now, after your experience, I will not cook from alder. Moreover, tonight I found a tree with a neighbor, a kind of cherry, the fruits are small, the taste is pleasant. Tomorrow I'll get the go-ahead to collect the leaves and try to make tea. The scent of the leaves is very similar to cherry, but slightly softer.

In principle, you can send them directly to fermentation through freezing! But I won't do it yet. I read about this "Samobranka" and wanted to myself. It will be necessary to purchase.

"Samobranka" is intended for drying all types of crops - fruits, vegetables, berries, herbs, roots and root crops. And also fish, mushrooms, homemade noodles, marshmallows, croutons, and in general everything that needs to be dried in the most economical way.
Retains useful substances, aroma, taste and color of products that are lost during heat treatment. "Samobranka" dries qualitatively, products quickly acquire a "marketable" appearance. Without additives, preservatives and dyes, while retaining the beneficial properties, dried fruits are ready for long-term storage! Will overdry the mountains of harvest!
The Samobranka fruit dryer has a number of advantages:
1. Dries quickly and efficiently. Easily provide you and your children with dried fruits for the whole winter. But vitamins are health!
2. Economical - 0.1 kW / h.
3. Very compact - rolls up into a roll with a diameter of 10 cm (easy to store, easy to transport).
4. Light weight - only 0.5 kg.
5. Low price.
6. Presentable appearance.
7. Multifunctionality. It can be used as a mini heater. And also for heating the car's crankcase for easy starting in cold weather.
8. Works absolutely silently.
9. Products are certified. Also has a sanitary and epidemiological conclusion on compliance with all requirements of hygiene standards.
The principle of operation of "Samobranka" is borrowed from the sun and is based on the emission of a long spectrum of infrared waves, which, in contact with the surface of any object, heat it to a depth of 4 cm. Due to this, the efficiency of energy consumption at "Samobranka" is much higher than that of conventional dryers. which uses a powerful heating element and fan, blowing most of the heat (and kilowatts on the meter) into the air. In our dryer, all heat energy is consumed for its intended purpose - for heating the product to be dried. With infrared heating, heat energy is transferred from the heating elements directly to objects in the area of the heater, without heating the air. Thus, drying of products by "Samobrankoy" is the most economical in comparison with other types of dryers. Infrared waves are completely safe for humans.
The Samobranka vegetable dryer looks like a flexible rug 50 * 50 cm in size with a colorful pattern. The heating element of the dryer is made of high quality carbon material and is sealed in a cover, the upper side of which is made of ordinary table oilcloth, and the lower side is made of vinyl leather. "Samobranka" is easy to transport - it is rolled up into a compact roll. And its low weight allows you to easily take the dryer with you to the country. Takes up little storage space.
Have you tried making marshmallow? With the help of the Samobranka electric dryer, making pastilles with various combinations of fruits, nuts and honey becomes an easy and exciting experience. You just need to smear the prepared ingredients on the dryer (after having greased it with oil) and plug into the outlet! After a few hours, turn off and remove the finished marshmallow! There is a recipe in the attached instructions. Surprise and delight your loved ones, because such a delicacy is hard to find in a store!
