Poppy seed cake (Omela)

Ingredients

Sprinkling:
Wheat flour 200 g
Corn flour 2 tbsp. l
Baking powder 1/2 tsp
Butter 125 g
Sugar 70 g
Filling:
Poppy 100 g
Sugar 5st. l.
Semolina 3 tbsp. l.
Sour cream 20% 400 g
Starch 1 tsp
Egg 1 PC.
Cognac 1 tbsp. l.
---------------------------------------------- ---------------
The form Ø = 24 cm

Cooking method

  • Filling:
  • Original stuffing here 🔗
  • Rinse the poppy seeds, add water, bring to a boil, turn off the heat, leave the poppy seeds in hot water for 15 minutes.
  • Strain the poppy seeds from the water, add all the other filling ingredients, beat.
  • Sprinkling:
  • Mix the sprinkling ingredients into crumbs.
  • Line the mold with paper, add 1/2 of the sprinkle, then carefully pour the filling.
  • Put in an oven preheated to 200⁰C. As soon as the sour cream "grabs" (10 minutes), remove the cake from the oven, sprinkle with the remaining sprinkling and send to the oven for another 25-30 minutes.
  • Enjoy your tea!

I took the risk and baked it. I usually don’t trust magazine recipes, because several times I didn’t get an interesting result, although I did everything strictly according to the instructions. This time the cake turned out to be tasty, but a little "damp".
This is my poppy cake I got

Just in case, I will give the ingredients of the recipe (I made from half of all products):
  • 1/2 kg poppy;
    1 liter of milk;
    5 egg yolks;
    1 tbsp. Sahara;
    9 Art. l. semolina;
    70g butter;
    1 tsp baking powder;
    6 large apples;
    2 tbsp. l. chopped nuts

The recipe did not say anything about how to somehow process apples (bake, for example, or boil), you need to grate them and add them to the dough. Maybe from this excessive moisture.
But the apples gave an interesting sourness to the cake.
