A.lenka, Thank you!

I decided to show once again how the Element grinds to 0 (with a finger with capillaries).
Not everyone is ready, following the example of Yuri, to search for and buy Armenian milk. And the Element makes it possible to come close to the ideal. Unfortunately, the scattering on the finger could not be removed, the coffee stubbornly sticks together into a cake and generally does not want to shoot the phone macro, nevertheless the capillaries are visible)

Charlotte, not bad! Not bad! I'll have to try it again with a different kind of grain. Yesterday it turned out that by me ... The coffee with which I was tormented on Element - did not want to grind into any on this manual coffee grinder !!!! I explain what is happening: it was preliminarily ground with an Element, and then I put it manually. As a result, he (coffee) completely hammered the manual millstones! I had to disassemble, clean, since a pinch of added grains of a different kind of millstone was simply not passed on to milk. Some sort of oily or something ... I don't know how to describe it, the grinding is of course loose but crumples like plasticine.
What is it and how to deal with it I still don't understand at all ...

Yuri K, so, what about the taste after grinding?

The taste is simply amazing! Soft coffee, bright chocolate, with sweetmeat and nutty aftertaste!

Yuri K, I also now drink "Brazil Ipanema Dulce". Chalk on Element without problems. How so? I haven't tried the second grade "Verona" yet.

Well I do not know. He grinds, who would mind, but not on the milling values. Did you grind to 0?

Yes to 0. At the slowest speed.

I have nothing to answer, I spread my hands. Maybe it depends on the batch, there are many factors, including the roasting date, maybe something else ...

Yeah. Ambush. This is the first time I come across the fact that coffee does not grind. As far back as I can remember, my parents have always ground coffee. Mostly, however, on an electric coffee grinder. And when it broke, they got hold of a hand somewhere. Never had a problem. True, I can't say what kind of coffee grinder was, millstone or not (or were all manual ones - millstones?), But I know for sure that it was not Armenian.
Charlotte
Yuri K, I'm glad that the element has been rehabilitated. This means that the variety is so oily that it turns into dough when finely ground. Perhaps in the element, the heating of the millstones aggravated the problem.

No, it is grinding, great! But not for the small fraction.

I wrote to the roasters, I want to understand what and how it is ... Why is that? Waiting for answers

So the variety is already so oily,
Possibly just a very strong roast. I sent my friend a pack of whole grain coffee, coffee of strong roast. She told me that the coffee beans are so oily, shiny .. If I overcook the coffee (I have a coffee roaster), then the oils also show through.
Yuri K
And yet, despite some misunderstanding ... How wonderful fine coffee is, it turns out how many nuances were skipped before! Now I drink a cappuccino, it rolls in my mouth already, so thick, yummy!

But no, with roasting everything is OK with them, such light grains, one to one by the way! Here they have varieties of French and Italian roast - yes, they already shine, almost to the state of coal in color. By the way, an interesting thought, perhaps the oils just completely remain in the grain, and from this the binding properties are such!
The variety itself is VERY tasty, according to my feelings of course.
Maybe the type of processing still affects the oil characteristics of the grain?

Yuri K, is the filter in the description a filter grade? The filter is made coarsely.

As such, there is no grade for cezve. All varieties are also suitable for her. By the way, a Turk is also mentioned in "Methods of Cooking".

In this store, coffee is divided into two types "For espresso" and "For filter", even the color designations are different, for the first type a blue circle, for the second type light green, it probably means something.
Even the most expensive one for 30 thousand rubles is marked as "For filter"
Yuri K
I consulted with the store representatives. For the Turks, they recommend the "Balanced Espresso" varieties (blue sticker), but again all other variations are not forbidden from their words, the difference will be felt by gourmets who feel the difference in notes and sourness.
Rusalca
Here is a quote from the site:
Coffee with blue stickers designed for espresso is also great for geyser coffee makers, and coffee with green stickers is perfect for all alternative brewing methods - drip coffee maker, French press, Turk, purover, aeropress and so on.
Yuri K
Rusalca, I do not like to be unfounded or to invent something. Here is a screen, you can make out what the store answers about this.

Yuri K, we are talking about the taste of coffee, but I wonder how it behaves in grinding one or the other coffee.
Rusalca
Yuri K, yes, I in no way question your words! I just gave a quote from the store itself. They have a little conflicting information. But the coffee is good!

but I wonder how this or that coffee behaves in grinding.
Well, in this I am not an assistant, I myself have just begun to delve into tastes
Charlotte
Testikofe is widely known for roasting trendy light roasts. That is, what they call a balanced blah blah blah for espresso is light (and sour), and what they call a dark roast is actually a classic. And the fact that they mark for the filter is completely light roast.
Light roast is popular with those who love active acidity and fruity notes. For espresso, this is not ice, the usual density, chocolate and cream are more difficult to achieve. The good thing about this is that they never overcook and even dark Verona, these are not coals.

In general, this is how - each grain must be tried to cook this and that, since everyone has a different taste. Better yet, change the testicofe with torrefacto once. The difference is noticeable ... alas, this also affects the price.
The Turk traditionally forgives the mistakes of roasting, everything is delicious in it and everything is almost the same.

Today I was too lazy to turn on Gadzhia and turn the coffee with my hands - I shouted an element and made a turkey. It is also almost without enough, even though you can eat your hat with a spoon. The cup is not bitter.

I now have store coffee and it is unexpectedly tasty and balanced (for its price) - a new project from Coffee House and Dixie. Brazil, specialty, grade 83. Very good, but be sure to look at the date on the pack and take a fresh one.

I think the happiness will be short-lived - or it will lie on the shelves, or they will start to shove bad grain.
Metro's coloboration with Gourmet also came out cool at first, and then old packs on the shelves. People habitually take lavatz and Mainz.
Yuri K
In the meantime, I decided to make my coffee grinder a little more convenient. After suffering for several days with a micro-pipette handle on the handle, and almost rubbing calluses on the thumb and forefinger (and nothing else you can grab on to) - I invented just such a manual, with a decent shoulder for effort and grip under the whole arm! Now grinding is quite comfortable, only the hand holding the glass of the coffee grinder gets tired

I strongly disagree. Even I, who have not tried many varieties yet, and then perfectly felt the difference between two different packages of the same direction of coffee.
Everything will be the same in a Turk for those who traditionally use not the finest grinding. I had it until I tried fine grinding.
Irinap
Yuri K, made fun of the change of pens, but they look too impressive together. With a large one, of course, it is much more convenient
Yuri K
Irinap, in general, heaven and earth have become! No straining! Well the handle of a cheap meat grinder was lying around!

Yuri K, and in more detail the process is possible? Did you drill a hole in the meat grinder handle? Or how? By the way, maybe you can figure out how to improve the lid so that you don't have to hold it. I don't know what prevented the manufacturer from making the lid fastening like a cylindrical one or screwed

Yes, a couple of holes with a drill, then bored out with files. It's easy there, duralumin handle. I'll think about the lid, but not critical, due to its own gravity it does not fly off, only rattles))
Niarma
Quote: Yuri K

that's what I don't like. And you have some interesting handle from the meat grinder - flat and rather thin (or it seems so in the photo), I have a thick and massive one, just the height of the coffee grinder rod is not enough to adapt it. We need to look at cheap modern ones, maybe they have thinner pens
Yuri K
Quote: Niarma

Yes, it is flat)) And the part where the hole for the coffee grinder was also grinded down on the plane so that the rod was enough)) I first sawed off the ring for the pulley of the grinder which.
Yuri K
I decided to measure the grinding time on my manual coffee grinder from something ... Not impressive at all, the hand holding the glass gets tired noticeably, without a break for a couple of seconds it is not fruity at all. In short, you have to grind two and a half teaspoons of grains for almost 5 minutes! With respite - exactly 5
I wonder how long it took her to grind before, when she was young!
By the time of cooking: I have a Turk for 300ml, from the beginning of setting the smallest comfort of the gas stove on fire, to the beginning of the formation of a tablet with bending of the edges - 5.5 minutes. Complete formation of the tablet with lifting, i.e. readiness of cooking - 7min 15sec.
Rusalca
Quote: Yuri K

Yuri K, that's nothing! We used to grind noticeably longer, dad for 10 minutes, and if my mother or I ...

selenа, Nagy, I read that there "provides uniform grinding of coffee beans and precise control of grinding up to grinding for espresso, mocha, cappuccino;", that is, it will not work for cezve!
I told you about Bosch, and so he is the only electric one of all mine close to the dust grinds due to the inclined bottom.

Yuri K, everything that is highly extractive for the stomach is not useful, of course, and for other things ... Therefore, I also do not refuse one Turkish tea a day, but not more ... If I still want coffee, which rarely happens, then through the airpress or from the car.
Irinap
Yuri K, I met the statement of one coffee lover that I had to somehow grind with a manual coffee maker, by the end of the grinding and coffee got sick.
