Fruit (vegetable) puree or jam in the microwave

Ingredients

Peeled apples 0.8 - 1.5 kg
(pumpkin, carrot, plum, pear ...)
Sugar (for jam) 1 - 2 cups (to taste)

Cooking method

  • I am sure that many bakers make mashed potatoes and jam in the microwave. But the search for such a method on the "Mcooker" practically gave no result. Last year, when an unprecedented apple harvest was born in my garden, I was puzzled by the problem of where to attach it. The apples were dried, jam and compotes were cooked, but I also wanted to make marmalade and marshmallow out of them. Moreover, without any agar-agars and zhelfix. I didn't like the idea of standing by the pan, constantly stirring the mashed potatoes and jam. But the mention of our bakers that they make jam in the microwave inspired me to this experience. It turned out to be so easy! And most importantly - without the use of any additional technique such as an oven, blender and wiping the mass through a sieve. Without spitting hot mashed potatoes and sticking them to the pan. And the density of such jam or mashed potatoes can only be surprised. It is very easy to prepare marmalade and marshmallow from such mashed potatoes.
  • So this recipe is for those who are still looking for the perfect way to make mashed potatoes and jam. It can be cooked from almost everything - from apples, pumpkin, carrots, plums, pears ... For those who are afraid of microwaves, this method, of course, will not work. For myself, I have long been determined on this score. Therefore, this method is ideal for me (at least at this stage of life).
  • So, I am showing the preparation of mashed potatoes and jam on the example of apples.
  • 1. I collected a carrion
  • Fruit (vegetable) puree or jam in the microwave
  • 2. Peeled the apples and cut them into random pieces into microwave-safe dishes (I have a large salad bowl). The salad bowl fit 800 grams of chopped apples. I do not recommend doing more than 1.5 kg.
  • Fruit (vegetable) puree or jam in the microwave
  • 3. I put it in the microwave and turned it on for 10 minutes at maximum power (I have 850 W).
  • 4. After turning off the oven, I stir the mass with a spoon, simultaneously kneading the pieces of apples with it. Apples are kneaded with stirring very easily.
  • I turn on the microwave another 3 - 4 times (each time for 7 - 8 minutes). After each shutdown, I mix the mass. The photo shows how the mass gradually decreases in volume and becomes more homogeneous.

  • 5. After 30 minutes, I reduced the power by half (I have 400 W), added sugar. She turned on the microwave twice more for 8 minutes. After turning off the oven, she stirred the mass with a spoon. She became completely uniform.
  • Fruit (vegetable) puree or jam in the microwave

  • 6. I laid out the finished jam in a jar sterilized in the same microwave (5 minutes at maximum power with half filled with water), rolled up the lid, turned the jar over and left it in this position for 30 minutes. not left because of its density under the lid. Everything, the jam is ready. If you do not add sugar, then we get mashed potatoes. Look at the light color of the jam! And how thick it is! It does not spread in baked goods. And such jam or mashed potatoes are stored perfectly!

The dish is designed for

0.5 - 1 l

Time for preparing:

40 - 50 minutes

Cooking program:

Microwave

Note

1. From 800 gr. peeled apples and ¾ glass of sugar made 0.5 liters of jam. From 1.5 kg of apples, respectively, 1 liter is obtained. Of course not much. But cooking puree / jam in the microwave does not take much time. It is being prepared as if in passing - the microwave turned off, took it out, mixed it and went on about my business. If I miss the moment of turning off the stove, nothing terrible will happen - nothing will burn, nothing will splash out. Thus, last year, as if by the way, I prepared about 30 liters of jam and mashed potatoes - a jar every day and did not noticeably receive such an amount for myself. Most of it went into making marmalade and pastille. And the mashed potatoes went well in cereals and pastries.
2. The cooking time for mashed potatoes and jam differs depending on the variety and type of fruits and vegetables. Hard varieties cook faster than more juicy ones. Therefore, it is preferable to choose hard varieties. It takes longer to cook from plums and pears than from apples, carrots and pumpkin. As the amount of fruits (vegetables) increases, the cooking time also increases.
3. After cooling, the puree / jam becomes much thicker than hot. I harvest them in varying degrees of density. And on the jars I glue the inscription about what this puree or jam is intended for - in marmalade, marshmallow, gingerbread, ordinary pastries, in porridge ...
4. Precautions.
You need to carefully remove the dishes from the microwave. First, it's hot. You need to do this with potholders. Secondly, the microwave plate can stick to the container in which our jam is being prepared. It happened once to me. When I took out the saucepan from the microwave, the plate fell and broke. I had to buy a new one. Therefore, taking out the dishes from the microwave, you need to make sure that we do not take out the plate with it.

Ludmila. Thanks, recipe for me. I will do it in the near future. I only recently discovered cooking in a micra. And so I liked this business. Super recipe

LudmilaThank you very much for the recipe!
I baked the apple mass in this way, but I didn't think of making mashed potatoes or jam for the winter. Now I will use this simple method.
lappl1
Natalishka, thanks for the tip! Try it! A very convenient way!

Lyudmila !!!! Thanks a lot for the recipe. You can't even imagine how you saved me. I have a bag of apples. One has already overdried, and one more to recycle. And we love the jam tenderly and anxiously by the whole family.
Tashenka
Ludmila, and how are you doing marmalade? I have stocked up jam, and mashed potatoes, and marshmallows for the boys I constantly make, but the apples are not decreasing ...

Tatyana, to your health! Recycle your bag playfully ... We love jam too. If the best jam and marmalade will be on the table, then the latter is preferred.

and how are you doing marmalade?
Tashenka, but from this very jam and make. I try to make it as thick as possible. And then I immediately put it hot in muffin tins. When it cools down, I cut it into 4 sectors, put it on a baking sheet on a silicone mat and dry it at a temperature of 60 * - 80 *. It does not dry as quickly as we would like. I turn it over from time to time. Then I put it in plastic containers. You can layer the layers with baking paper. But I don't always do it. Does not stick together. Store at room temperature. Here, even last year's marmalade remained as soft as I put it in a box.

Lyudmila, thanks for such a simple recipe! I will definitely try. Apples, boiled after a juicer and turned into mashed potatoes with a blender, were closed in jars for the winter, heated in the microwave, mashed potatoes are stored perfectly in the room. But I didn't guess right away to cook in the microwave without additional devices and for the winter. Great idea!
I am now interested in the color of marmalade, why is it purple, is it apples?
lappl1
MarinaThank you for appreciating this method of making puree and jam. It's really that easy to do it!

I am now interested in the color of marmalade, why is it purple, is it apples?
This is most likely due to the flash of the camera. In real life, the color of marmalade after final drying in the oven turns out to be reddish-pinkish-brown, very beautiful. And after a year of storage, it completely darkened. But the taste did not deteriorate in the least. The photo shows just last year's completely darkened marmalade. This box with the leftovers stood in the light for a year. The marmalade, which stands in a dark place, retains its color.

Lyudmila, I think I'll try to make marmalade, it seems interesting.
Looking at the photo, I thought that the blue hue of the berries was somehow given.

Tatyanathanks for the praise! Try it! I'm sure you will enjoy the process!

Marina, you get a delicious, natural product! It doesn't look like a store one at all, since agar-agar is added to it, for example. I tried adding this agar, but I don't like the taste. If desired, it can be combined with various fruits and vegetables. But I did not add the berry on purpose, since it is very juicy, it will take a long time to turn the microwave.
TATbRHA
lappl1, and for how many minutes do you turn on the microwave at full power to start? Here they put raw apples, turn on - how much? (I read it - I didn't find it).
lappl1

Periodically (every 8 - 10 minutes) turned off the oven
Tatyana, yes, somehow it is not very specific I wrote it. Now I will formulate it better. And in general, I do not turn off the oven, but it turns itself off.
In general, the first time I turn it on for 10 minutes. You can do more, but the lower layers of apples turn into mashed potatoes faster than the upper ones, so I don't turn it on for more than 10 minutes.
TATbRHA
Excellent, everything is clear, further is simple - in appearance. Thanks again!
lappl1
Tatyana, thanks for paying attention to the inaccuracies! I slightly corrected the recipe. Hope it gets better this way.

The jam turns out to be amazing, light amber in color. Did not have time to close already began to destroy

Ludmila, and the jam is stored where? Is it normal in the closet? And then the husband does not eat with sugar, with only fructose, and you need to put little. I am waiting for a gift from the neighbors, they all the time treat them with apples, they don’t bring less than a bag at a time ... And the microwave is idle. Let her work too!
Florichka
It is very important, apples are "tortured". I have already redone everything with them, what is possible. Now I will make your mashed potatoes in microvolts. I have long wanted a recipe without the hassle of mashed potatoes for marmalade and marshmallow.

and where is the jam stored?
Veronica, if the jar is sterilized, then it is stored perfectly at room temperature! And mashed potatoes and jam. I have one jar of not very thick mashed potatoes that stood on the terrace for a year. I wrote that my microwave plate was broken. The puree is not fully cooked. So I put this puree in a non-sterilized jar, and after cooling down, I took it out on the terrace in an idle refrigerator. She survived both winter and spring. Now the summer is running out, and she stands like new. But I still advise you to sterilize the jar.

Irina, this is just such a recipe. How many marmalade and marshmallows I changed last year, you can not count. And all of this puree.

Oh, they didn't poke my nose, I missed such a topical recipe! : rose: thanks Monday, I'll start picking apples at work just don't hang out; there are many like me in the bookmark.
lappl1
Oksana, you haven't missed anything - I just put out the recipe yesterday. You, this ... Bookmark - good. But we must do it right away. And you don't need to collect anything. A kilogram has appeared, just let him on the jam!
Zabava
wonderful recipe! : girl_romashka: cooked today from pears, but since the goal was not harvesting, but the disposal of inedible fruits, it turned out a little. While the jam itself was cooking in the microwave, I fried pancakes and it turned out to be a great breakfast. Now I will take care of preparations for the winter, I like to bake a "friendly family" for the filling, that's the thing!
lappl1
Marina, thanks for using this method of making jam. I am very glad that your breakfast was a success! Indeed, such a jam goes well into the filling - it does not spread if it is made thicker. And the microwave allows it - nothing burns or runs away.

For many years I have been making apples in the microwave, I put very little sugar, you can put it all for me.

IrinaI guess I caught your idea somewhere in space ... Last year I really missed such a method. I had to reinvent the wheel.
Yes, you can cook both mashed potatoes, completely without sugar, and jam, even with the smallest amount of sugar ...
You have beautiful jars. I like that the jam and puree are very light.
kil
lappl1, and most importantly, it doesn't taste like jam, and certainly not jam, it rather resembles a filling for pies, by the way, it is very good to make pies with these apples in winter.
Yes advice, cut larger and add sugar immediately on top.
poni
Please tell me, do you need to cover apples in the microwave with a cap (lid)?
kil
I do not cover, and I need to mix several times, I generally cook them after a break, in the morning before work for 10-15 minutes and then in the evening and put hot (boiling) apples in sterile jars, close the lids and turn them over until they cool. They are stored for several years if they did not have time to eat, although I have a basement.

poni, no, you don't need to cover, as we need the excess moisture to evaporate. It will remain there under the lid.
paramed1
Ludmila, thanks. What to sterilize is understandable, I always sterilize it for jam or jam. But last year I cooked grated apples with cinnamon, put 200 g of fructose per kilo, so one infection swelled at room temperature ... I hope that this year everything will be fine with your help.

Irina, and is perfectly stored at room temperature. I also have a basement, but a few jars, left as attendants, so as to go down into the basement less often, remain as just rolled up.

Veronica, I have one friend with whom I shared this method of preparing mashed potatoes and jammed last year, also noticed this feature of microwave blanks. Ordinary jam, rolled up with lids, can get moldy, but from the microwave - no, it is as cute. She lives in an apartment and keeps it in a regular closet.

A very interesting way to dispose of apples Already the recipe in the tabs
Hope it comes in handy! Only my apples and pears, I have already processed everything! Wow ... a little earlier!
Lyudmila, thanks for the interesting recipe!
lappl1
Nelya, to your health! I am glad that this method seemed interesting to you! And about the fact that everything has already been reworked, it's okay. First, you can harvest pumpkin, carrots like that. And secondly, the season is not over yet. In such cases, I save my neighbors from the harvest ...
Natalishka
LudmilaThanks for the recipe. I liked the taste and ease of preparation Fruit (vegetable) puree or jam in the microwaveHere's another question, I cooked it strictly according to the recipe, it turned out not liquid, but not as thick as yours. And to make it even thicker, you can cook for more than 30 minutes? Or boil?

I also have my thanks, the plums turned out excellent
Lyudochka, have you ever tried tomatoes?

Natasha, I am very glad that you liked it! It looks very beautiful - light and rather thick. The density of the jam depends on the variety of apples and on their quantity. From 1.5 kg of apples, the time increases by 1.5 times. And from more juicy fruits and vegetables, you will also have to cook longer. Nothing will burn, don't worry. I boil very much for marmalade and nothing has ever burnt.
Thanks for using this method! Cook for more health!

I also have my thanks, the plums turned out excellently Lyudochka, but have you tried them from tomatoes?
Marina, Hurrah ! It's great that everything worked out! I also like plum jam. I also cook a lot from pumpkin. You won't keep them for a long time, so I also make mashed potatoes from them. And then in winter I use cereals and pastries - it turns out great.
I haven't tried tomatoes. I came up with another method for myself - it turns out faster than the standard method. Anticipating the question, I will immediately answer. I twist the tomatoes in a meat grinder (I have an electric one, so it turns out quickly). In a saucepan I bring to a boil, turn off the heat and let stand for an hour. Then I pour in a full sieve of this mass, leave the mass for 7 - 8 minutes directly in the sieve (I have a wire sieve, two-layer, not a single seed passes through it). All excess fluid drains off during this time. I usually pour it out, as it is very light, almost like water. Then with a potato pusher (metal - at the end of the handle there is a platform with holes) I rub the mass through a sieve - in the same movements as pounding potatoes. It turns out quickly and easily. So 3 - 4 passes and we get a thick mass without skins and seeds. Then I use it in this form or boil it to the desired density (it boils down quickly). It is also possible in the microwave, so as not to guard the tomato from burning and splashing.
Vaneska
how to get hold of suitable tomatoes, I will definitely make them in the micra, the result is very interesting

lappl1what a wonderful recipe! I take it into service!
