Accidentally ran into an interesting article. I could not resist not to quote it here on the forum.

Healthy eating is a disease

February 13, 2010. American community organizations that help patients with anorexia, bulimia and other forms of mental disorders associated with eating, are seeking to include in the official list of mental illnesses a new disorder - orthorexia, that is, a manic adherence to the idea of healthy eating.

Talking about this disease, the American edition of Time cites the case of 27-year-old Christy Rutzel. The girl asked for help in connection with exhaustion, acute anemia and calcium deficiency. The doctor recommended that Christie eat right, but it turned out that the patient has been doing just that for the past ten years.

Even at school, she completely abandoned canned food and semi-finished products, then completely switched to organic products, eliminated all “harmful” fats and carbohydrates from her diet - but she did not calm down. In an effort to avoid any junk food, the girl eventually came up with a diet of mostly raw broccoli. At the time of going to the doctor, she weighed a little over 30 kilograms.

Such cases are encountered by doctors in the West more and more often, but the diagnosis of orthorexia is absent in the approved classifiers of diseases, which means that doctors cannot receive grants to study this pathology, and insurance companies do not pay for its treatment. Patients are eventually diagnosed with anorexia, although their psychological shift is of a completely different nature.

Yes, if the diet consists mainly of raw broccoli, then what kind of health can we talk about.

By and large, here we are talking about the fact that, being carried away by healthy eating, many often greatly exaggerate, excluding from the diet foods that are considered not useful, but which the human body desperately needs.
Therefore, speaking about healthy eating, one should think, is it really that healthy?

You have to eat while you eat - "eat while your mouth is fresh" - a serious illness will fall on you - nothing will get into your mouth!

It's said straight about me ...
So maybe you shouldn't get too carried away with "healthy" eating? You are depriving yourself of such pleasure. As you can see, the so-called. "healthy" food, as it turns out, is not very healthy ...

I don’t know if I’ll find this book yet (it disappeared during the renovation). It was called "Neuropathology for All" (there was also a second one), the author Umansky KG Doctor-neuropathologist talked about cases from his practice. He got home to a lady who was already in a very serious condition. There was a picture of severe vitamin deficiency, which was observed in beggars and alcoholics, but never in people with a normal standard of living. What could have led to such results in a seemingly normal woman? The doctor began to ask about how the woman eats. "Eggs ?! What are you? They have terrible cholesterol!" Approximately the same exclamations were answered when the doctor mentioned other products. Confirming her words, the woman reached for the bookcase near the bed and took out the magazine "Health" from the pile, in which ALL mentions of the harmfulness of this or that product were noted. As soon as a woman found out that somewhere there was some kind of "byaka", then this product was immediately excluded from the diet. The only thing the doctor managed to "play" on then was on the apparent contradictions between different articles of the magazine (somewhere they wrote about "byaks", somewhere about the positive qualities of the same product).

Well, do not forget that in many ways, harmfulness-usefulness is a commercial move. The same "terrible" cholesterol is needed in the body to create many useful things, in particular the same sex hormones, which themselves regulate fat metabolism. Moreover, when there is a shortage of cholesterol from outside, it is formed directly in the body. Manufacturers of drugs and bioactive products are based on this, recommending all kinds of cholesterol-lowering drugs and products like Donacor.
And just the intake of the same cholesterol in the body and its concentration in the blood mean little, the proteins that carry it are important. I remember with affection an advertisement, when my mother-in-law is frying something and my daughter-in-law asks: "Again in butter. There's cholesterol in the same place !!!" and the grandmother almost faints, it looks like cholesterol is a synonym for poison.
And now there is a very powerful attack on the consumer on "correct" nutrition, especially on food grown without nitrates, pesticides, hormones, etc. This eco-food is much more expensive than usual, that's why they "take care" of us. And given the crisis of overproduction of food products in many developed countries, it becomes clear why they are trying to foist on their "healthy" products.
The situation with the girl described above is very typical now for the United States with its "fashions", now the "fashion" is for a healthy lifestyle, plus the modern standard of beauty, where the style of subtlety still dominates. Rushing into the fight with "extra" calories, and at the same time excluding "harmful" foods, girls often fly into anorexia nervosa, when the body gets so used to the lack of food that it cannot even absorb it. Constant vomiting begins, and so on. At the same time, there are no more or less lengthy studies that speak about the usefulness of such a life. Moreover, there is evidence on the contrary, in particular, the pursuit of a wasp waist leads to problems during pregnancy, and if you look at old sources, when the same wealthy peasants ate enough fatty foods, the frequency of heart disease was much lower. It turned out that it is more important not how much fat you eat, but how much of it then "burns" during exercise.

America is a separate issue. There are too many overweight people. Therefore, all kinds of "fashions" for food and diets arise there.

By the way, there were practically no people with obesity among the wealthy peasants.

In-in! I, too, lost my weight to 46 !!! Then I thought, nope, it won't do! This is not great! I felt great though. But the hair still began to fall out .... She spat, began to eat everything, recovered to 52 kg. But because of "eating everything" cholesterol has increased. Everything - it means - mountains of baked goods, McDonald's, pork, etc., etc.
Now I'm trying "sybarite". This is really healthy food! I liked the fact that there is almost no need to calculate anything and everything is balanced. And fats and carbohydrates and proteins. After all, fats can not be excluded in any case! This causes great harm to the body! I was convinced myself! And in "sybarite" the fat rate has already been calculated. I don't want to lose weight, I just want to eat well, nicely and healthy!
And overdoing it with losing weight is no longer a healthy diet - it's a disease!
