The worst case was - a frying pan that we inherited, and already with a couple of mm of noble carbon deposits on the sides (I was waiting for it to get warmer to try a new grinder on it). So I took it out of the dishwasher in exactly the same form in which I put it in. But on closer inspection, this carbon deposit can be scraped off with a knife.
