Hello
Tell me, who knows what are the secrets of proper storage of buckwheat?
And, actually, the main question was this - I had buckwheat groats in a three-liter jar with a polyethylene lid for a year (or maybe two) - today I looked - and in some places it seemed to turn white a little (mostly at the bottom of the jar) - that is, like some kind of slight whitish bloom.
Can I use this cereal? Well, let's say, after washing it? Has anyone encountered this at all?

dim102, throw it away with the jar without opening the lid, most likely it is mold and, trying to save the jar, you can breathe in its spores, and this is very dangerous.

Thanks for the information on mold.
But if you feed the birds?
Well, my hand will not rise like this to throw out the product ((

Mold. If it's a pity to throw it away, rinse it in a sieve with hot water, cook it like ordinary buckwheat and put the boiled one on the street for the birds.

You might think that crows and pigeons in trash can eat exceptionally healthy food without mold.

well, I don't know about you
but in our country it is customary to rinse the cereals before discarding

I've noticed
that birds won't bite at all, what is not edible
that is, if you throw seeds for them, then they will not peck empty seeds
or if there are pebbles that look like seeds, then they do not peck them either - right away.

If there is no moldy smell, then you can fry it, and then use it. In general, I like to fry buckwheat before cooking, porridge tastes better only from this.

Guys--

Well, it's not worth it to wash / dry / cook - too many body movements
I understand the bag ezhli hit in old age. And a couple of kilos is not a big loss \ we spend on drink more \

We pour a couple of zhmeny out the window and wait for the birds to bite
then we clap our hands loudly - if not all the birds have taken off / deaf does not count / then pour boiling water over the cereal, let it swell, drain and repeat the experiment.
