Hello. : hi: Can you please tell me, are pressure cookers used only on gas stoves? Is it possible on electro (glass ceramics) too? Before, when I lived in an apartment with a gas stove, I constantly used a pressure cooker, but now I am afraid. : pardon: You never know what she can do on email. stove.
Christina, we now have electric pressure cookers. They are easier to operate, less dangerous on the floor, have a snooze timer, etc.
And in order to find you the answer on the use of a pressure cooker on glass-ceramic, then look on the forum for a topic on glass-ceramic plates.
I have been using gas stoves all my life.
Lika
*Kristina*, if it is still Soviet and aluminum, then it is better not to use it on glass ceramics, traces will remain. And on an ordinary electric stove as much as you like.

Girls, dear! Help me deal with such a Sovdep's pressure cooker:

🔗

Mom once gave it away, because she did not use it herself. I have it for 5 years in the garage lay along with the same fast cooking. She took it out, washed it, sort of figured it out. And the instruction is all oily (I don't know what happened to it: pardon), it's very hard to figure it out. But I realized that when the pressure builds up, first the safety valve (white on the right) works, but it worked for me. And then it is said that the "working" valve (the one in the center) should work, and I have it as it stood, and still stands without any movement, and steam is coming down from the safety valve. What is wrong, I don’t understand. : pardon: Maybe someone has this or similar, explain to the tanker how it should be, pliz.

and I would like to know how to use such a device! :-))

Oh, I've already figured it out. While the flight is normal! TTT. Until I bought myself an electric pressure cooker, I will use this one. In fact, everything turned out to be very simple, it was necessary to tighten all the valves and it works like a clock.

And I have such a pressure cooker, bought in the last century. Hands do not rise to throw it out, but is already close to the exit.
I take it out 1-2 times a year for steaming vegetables for vinaigrette.

And I have not played enough yet. Stewed cabbage - 20 minutes, cooked spaghetti yesterday - 5 minutes. For lack of electric, so far I'm happy with this one.
Taia
I do not like . After the experience of communicating with her, I don't even want a modern pressure cooker.

And I have such a set, but only after buying an electric pressure cooker, this set is completely idle

There, both lids fit both saucepans plus a double boiler.

It's like heaven and earth, the biggest drawback (as for me) in cooktop pressure cookers is that steam is released in them through the valve, and the liquid is evaporated accordingly.

TA-dah! I'm waiting for some thread of reason, to spin my husband's Schaub on lyctric. It's already in a dream!
Sandy
I did this fish, so I did not guess with the liquid and the fish almost burned from the side.
And if there is a lot of pea soup, it can be poured through the valve (I did not have this, but my mother so often had this)

Mechanical pressure cooker (Soviet)

In the electric, as much as I poured liquid, so much remains at least three hours of mascara

What do you dislike? Such a gorgeous broth for borscht turns out in it !!! And only 40 minutes. instead of 2 hours in a regular saucepan! Maybe you just cooked the wrong dishes in it?

I also don't understand how you can not like her! In addition to several electric ones, I still use with great pleasure in the country, on a gas stove, the very first mechanical pressure cooker. I love her very much and will be upset when the time comes to replace her.
Taia
I don't like it for many reasons. There is no way to control the cooking process itself, to determine readiness. The pressure in the pan is injected - it is necessary to control so that the valve does not break off from oversight (this happened). And then, after the end of cooking, you have to wait for the pressure to come down. And it happened that after waiting for the end of cooking, you find that the product is still raw and you need to put it on to cook and again monitor the pan and control the pressure. I very rarely cook meat, it's easier for me to cook it in a saucepan. And it’s uncomfortable for me to wash this pan after cooking. It is inconvenient because the handle is long and the edges of the pan are concave inward. If you have a dishwasher, you don't want to wash this bandura with your hands.
Homik
Homik! You goof
I also have a well-deserved Soviet pressure cooker in the basement, I completely forgot about it. We were spoiled girls with electricity
albina1966
And I have already had success in mastering this unit. Yesterday I cooked rice in 7 minutes. (taking into account boiling -9-10 min.), buckwheat - in 12 minutes, large beet - in 45 minutes. Satisfied, like an elephant. So I dabble in it and am happy as a child. So far, even electro is not strong and I want. I like that it can be cooled down very quickly under cold water.
Homik
And I called my eldest son and asked him to go into the basement and URGENTLY bring me her pressure cooker

Oh! And we have one. I remember one of my relatives cooked a wonderful pea soup in it. But how to use a smokehouse was not necessary. How I love all these things from childhood, although many are either lying on the mezzanine, or are irretrievably lost from sight ... In this way I found a miracle oven (if anyone remembers), which was put on gas and you could even make baked goods. I found recipes on the Internet (there are enthusiasts!), I made a wonderful poppy braid!

of course we remember, I also have such a thing, it cooks on gas, the wind pies are excellent in it.

Albina, so you have it modern! VESCH - definitely! I don't have one ...
You know, progress and electric pressure cookers are very good. But I started my career as a pressure cooker in the eighties of the last century. So this is what I wanted to say: you have a GREAT pressure cooker!

albina1966
Vika!
Imagine, I bought myself an electric SLE, and I still cook rice in the Soviet SLE. It turns out so cool there, grain to grain.
oxychka
Where can you buy a cover O-ring? otherwise I also have such a Soviet pressure cooker, but the ring is cracked and it lies idle in the basement ...
Creamy
Advertise in local newspapers and you will be inundated with offers to buy new pressure cookers at ridiculous prices. I have repeatedly tested it on pressure cookers.
oxychka
maybe someone sells exactly O-rings
oxychka
everything works with the old ring

dopleta Well, I didn't look at the instructions, I say as I remember from childhood, I was 13-14 years old then ...
but could you throw off the instruction?
greenkaktus
I read the topic and remembered that there is a pressure cooker and I do not use it. I decided to cook something, but there are no instructions, and I can't remember in what position the second valve should be, completely closed (probably a safety one to relieve pressure in an emergency) or slightly open. Maybe someone will tell you. Thank you in advance.
Markusy
I have an Italian pressure cooker. She has been with me for over 19 years.
It was given to me when we moved to this country.
Before that, it was Soviet, very difficult.
My pressure cooker cooks my tongue, jellied meat. Everything in 1.5 hours.
I am very happy with it and use it frequently.
I saw on sale, they are very expensive, more than $ 100.

Friends, help!

I dug up an old Soviet pressure cooker in the garage, left over from the previous owner. I disassembled everything, laundered as much as possible. It turned out like this:

Mechanical pressure cooker (Soviet)

On the handle, which is used to screw the lid, there is an inscription "Minute". Such a valve (most likely a safety valve, there is a spring inside it):

Mechanical pressure cooker (Soviet)

And the fitting seems to be under the hose:

Mechanical pressure cooker (Soviet)

There is nothing else. There is also no instruction. So I don't know what is missing in this pressure cooker. After all, a fitting with a through hole will not allow to gain pressure inside, which means that it must be closed with something. Who knows what?
Thank you.
Arnica
There the valve should be put on this fitting from above.
Papazol
Yes, I got it already. Most likely, the old owners broke or lost this valve. Where can I get it now? I will look. Thank you.
Arnica
Successful search!

Look at Avito for example. can someone sell the old one. I remember my aunt had a similar one, and the valve was also lost, she fitted a thimble .. No matter what, everything was whistling. But it’s better not to do that. My aunt was still that extreme ...
Probably such a valve is needed .. in the photo ..

Markusy
Yes, I had one in Minsk. The valve is removable.
Maybe he lies somewhere nearby?
The Italian one is also removable and after cooking it is very
rinse thoroughly.
Katenysh
Oh, I had such a thing exploded three years ago))))). I used pressure cookers for 20 years before. Cooked jellied meat for my sister for 50 years. Looks like she put a lot of meat. She jumped up from the explosion, broke the hood over the stove, fell back onto the stove, crumpled it all. And bones were in small crumbs everywhere: on the ceiling, in cabinets, and on the walls. The gas service came as if in an accident. The truth quickly left, because it was not a gas explosion. Itself was burned a little, a week on sick leave. We bought a new hood and stove. The walls and ceilings were washed with a Karcher steam cleaner. How new they are! I had another pressure cooker in use, but my husband took it to the trash heap. Moreover, all our neighbors who had pressure cookers also took the pots to the trash, so that there was no temptation to use them again)))) And before that, I used the pressure cooker all the time.
dopleta
Apparently the valve is clogged. This happens when the valve is closed and the pressure is not released.
Markusy
I keep the valve in hot soapy water every time
then I clean each hole with a toothpick and, when I put it under the stream,
I check to see if water is pouring out of all the holes.
I also clean the pin on which it sits.
I have had a pressure cooker for 19 years. I love her so much.
Katenysh
Well, yes, I put in more meat, it boiled, the foam rose up and clogged the valve. We think it was.

If you don’t find the valve, don’t despair - the fitting will allow you to attach a cooler to the former pressure cooker and get a small moonshine still, all the benefits will be ...
Katenysh
Wow! But we didn't think of it! All pressure cookers have already been thrown out)))))
