Need help ... Need instructions ...
Yesterday I bought a Soviet (the newest, I have never been in use) pressure cooker for 50 UAH (3 dollars), I dreamed for a long time ... It has two valves, a cool fastening on the lid of some kind of coasters, but there were no instructions ... How to use it? And the thing is really cool and hard
It looks like this, but with two valves

Thank you in advance!!!
Boo Boo
I can't see where the second valve is. It is very simple to use, put the food, put on the lid (see that there is no distortion), screw it on and put it on fire. When the valve starts to sizzle, turn the heat down to minimum and time. When the cooking process is over, remove the pan from the heat (carefully, if you shake it strongly, steam will start pouring out of the valve and boiling water will spray out), carry it very gently into the sink and put cold water on the lid. After about three minutes, gently lift the valve with a fork, if there is no hiss, then you can open it.
Ukka
BooBoo, thanks for the advice !!!
The second valve is symmetrically located ...
Can you share the recipes?
Boo Boo
I didn't understand about the second valve, there should be only one valve, maybe you mean a spare one?
I forgot to write, an insert with holes is used for steaming, for example, beets for a salad or chicken (if you don't need broth), what does the second insert look like?
I will not share the recipes, I think that you can use recipes for electric pressure cookers, there are such on the site.
From what I remember, potatoes for a couple of minutes 5-7, beets 40 minutes, chicken 25. I will also tell you, if the valve comes off the pan during intense steam release, then you need to bend the wires there. You cannot wash the pan in the dishwasher and you cannot rub it with abrasive products either. If anything is still not clear, ask, I am always happy to help.
Ukka
Hurrah!!!
You can see the second valve

Boo Boo If using recipes for electric pressure cookers, what's the roughly minimum amount of liquid?
Boo Boo
Yes, I see, thanks. I've had a lot of these pressure cookers, but this is the first time I've seen it with two valves.
If you cook on a grid with holes, then pour the water no higher than the grid level.

Girls, I don't know where to ask my questions. I want a pressure cooker just like that. I understand that stainless steel is preferable. Two handles are more compact than one long handle. I tuned in to 4 liters. And then I read it. that the pressure cooker is only half full. That is, to look for a 6-liter at least? For me, 2 liters of jellied meat is nonsense. And soup too. Girls who use pressure cookers, please respond.
natamylove
I use it, I got it from my mother and it is for jellied meat.
But since the instruction was lost, I always filled it in 3/4 full.
Half is not enough.
Nothing, I'm still alive.
Freken Bock
natamylove, what is your pressure cooker? Is it stainless steel?

What are you all "infectious" people

It turns out that now you need to climb behind ordinary pressure cookers, which have long been hidden out of sight

We ate non-standard pots, and we return to the origins - native rarities, which are not at all worse than fancy ones

This is how things will go, let's start making soups and cereals in pots in a regular oven

And the new is the well-forgotten old.

I have a stainless steel, but it does not say how many liters and so too lazy to measure. But not 4 liters, more.
Well, the standard of the USSR, they were all the same.

And yet, I recently conducted an experiment, you know, there is such a way of smoking fish in a Soviet pressure cooker. Chips are poured to the bottom, fish and gas are higher on the grate.
I made a goose leg like that.

But there was no effect, she cooked, but did not smell smoked.
I also have photos, but I was too lazy to exhibit.

Whom this method will be interested in, I did, we can expose.

The girl (I don't remember the nickname), who makes fish like that, said that my mistake was that I did not use shavings, but twigs, and therefore did not smell smoked.

In this pressure cooker I stew meat - in a large piece, it turns out very soft, my husband loves this, I cook jellied meat, pilaf. Only I have one with one valve.

lana7386, are you satisfied with it? Do you use it often? What are you cooking? I just returned from a search. Alas, I haven't found a single pressure cooker! Apparently, online shopping is all that remains for me. The choice will be made based on the reviews.
BlackHairedGirl
And I use it, though rarely - I cook jellied meat in it, make meat stew with potatoes, the broths are very rich. I have preserved it since Soviet times, six-liter. It's a good thing, but I don't like washing it, it's hard.

So after all, the multicooker is not easier to wash, the lid cannot be removed and you still need to get in under the gum

I have a modern pressure cooker, I don’t remember exactly how many liters, it seems 7, from Tefal. The instructions say that you need to fill it with liquid by 2/3, I sometimes pour more. If the rubber bands are good, nothing will happen. Mine was spoiled by constant use for 3 years, so I bought a new one. Now, when boiling, not a drop is poured out. It also came with a small booklet with recipes, there you can even cook a biscuit. I didn't risk it. I didn't really like the pilaf in it. Basically I cook broths, soups, roasts, carcasses, steamed vegetables. Cooking is exactly 3 times faster, at least in mine. For mom they bought like u lana7386 , exactly the same principle, only it closes - it is not very convenient to open

Why half? There are dimensional risks on it from the inside (on mine, in any case, they are), and the upper one, above which it is not recommended to fill, is ~ 3-4 cm below the lid. I have a very old Soviet pressure cooker, I use it in my dacha (I love pressure cookers very much, and I have an electric Unit at home), but there is one "BUT" - over time, they (the old ones) wear out the rubber O-ring, and they start to poison. In modern ones, the ring is silicone, practically not wearing out.
BlackHairedGirl
Yes, I also remembered - my mother had exactly the same, and she used it both in the tail and in the mane - broths, especially bone broth, boiled and stewed meat, porridge - I remember pearl barley, I cooked peas for filling for pies, beets for salad, compote from dried fruits it turned out amazing, so rich ... I always filled it by two-thirds. But she never made baked goods. In general, a very good thing, only at first it makes a scary hiss
kisa7575b
Another huge plus in the protection of the pressure cooker. Even if the broth boils strongly, nothing will happen to it, it will remain transparent, and the foam will lie in an even "canvas" in a circle, and it will not be difficult to remove it, even filtering the broth is not necessary. But as for the rubber bands, I would not refuse the silicone one, I have both the old and the new - both rubber, but everything is also Tefal

Girls, I also have Tefal in the country. So, in stores selling Tefal pots and dishes, you can buy separately a sealing gum, it is sold in a package.

Girls, and maybe someone, quite by chance checked whether this ring fits the old Soviet one? And then I was going to buy the third pressure cooker ... One in which the silicone is "welded" along the perimeter of the lid.
kisa7575b
I can't say for sure, but it seems the diameter of the lid of different pressure cookers (the ones that I saw) are the same. There were even different volumes of the pan, but they were the same in diameter. And if you take the lid to the store and try it on there. Although they are sealed in plastic. I'm going to run mine now.

Oh, well, you put me on my shoulder blades with stories about broth! I was gone. Probably I can find Cook & Co, it seems, the BergHOFF branch is inexpensive. Nobody dealt with these dishes? Will it explode from me?

Great thing is your pressure cooker! I had such a thing, my mother gave someone for a while, that's all. They never gave it up. I think this is the worst kitchen loss! Fill only 2/3, and milk no more than 1/3. I loved pickle in it - put everything raw, fill it with water, add frying with sautéing, and for 40 minutes! Barley was boiling! With such a screw, it will explode. This was blown up with a long handle, the lids were torn off, making the housewives disabled.

Freken Bock, I wanted to buy a Berhoff pressure cooker a few years ago. So, the seller (he has been selling this particular dish for many years) dissuaded me! He said that it would be better to look for domestic production, ours are safer.
His words: "I don't want you to come to me in a couple of months with a claim."

I have a modern pressure cooker, I bought it a couple of years ago. The warranty period is 12 years. The set includes 2 rubber bands, the diameter is really 25 cm at the outer edge. So they are standard, which is great, you can always buy. Rubber of excellent quality, for 2 years has not changed even its appearance, elastic, dense, gray. I thought it was silicone, but my husband said it was rubber.
I'm happy with the dishes. I cook beets, broth, if the meat is from the freezer (it does not need to be thawed in this case), I cook, as I remember about the pressure cooker, goulash,
pea soup, any meat carcass ... I have a Zepter set of pots, so I cook jellied meat in a Zepter, I like it more than in a pressure cooker.
It seems to me that you must have a pressure cooker, but which one is up to you.
I love to cook corn in a pressure cooker, because in 15 minutes. the cobs are ready!

Thank you very much for your feedback. It's hard to choose when there is nothing to choose from. But I'll try.

Trampled where you sent me

Well, what can I say? I used a Soviet pressure cooker for a very long time, exactly the same as in the first photo of the topic, with my mother-in-law she is still alive, because a person knows how to handle things neatly, but something happened to me with the lid, or with the valve, I don't remember exactly. But I still use the saucepan itself, heavy, thick-walled

A couple of years ago, I accidentally bought a set of two pressure cookers in Metro Elo - small, large and two lids. I use it, of course, but in comparison with "ours" they are too lightweight, and the valve has to be helped to close ...

We have a place on Privoz where grannies sell various metal utensils of Soviet production. Almost unused forms, cast-iron cauldrons, hazelnuts, dumplings, etc. are flickering there. So I'm thinking of buying Soviet again, while I still have left. It still seems that nothing better and more reliable has not yet been invented

Vika just told me about this. We do not have any delivery, of course. But I'll rummage through my acquaintances, maybe I'll get lucky.

So I sent the slow cooker to rest, maybe I will add another one of my own.
I went to get my pressure cooker, I have it big, I’ll twist the rolls in it, cook jellied meat and cook soup with duck, stew, and ... a lot of things.

It is more practical ...

The bells and whistles are over.
Yesterday I made such a porridge from grains.I made large in milk in a multicooker, I didn’t dream of a slow cooker all night long - but in just an hour

It was there that I bought my second pressure cooker. Granny's. For 20 UAH But not the same as on the first page. I have had this since the 80s. But I lost the valve (it's removable). In this case, the lid is inserted inside, rotated and closed as if from the inside. A year later, my husband found a valve from my favorite pressure cooker in a box with his "glands". Now I have two of them.
No matter how much I looked at the new pressure cookers, everything is beautiful in them, but there is no better than those Soviet ones. Here I cannot be persuaded.

My old, from Soviet times, pressure cooker was so inconvenient to close: I put the lid inside and turned it, closed it, only when it boiled, it was clear whether it closed, and everything is new. I suffered and used and loved her ...
And this, new, closes so conveniently, two degrees of protection (in each handle), good metal, the bottom is made of laminated metal. I am very pleased with the new one, the principle of operation is the same as for the old ones, without various buttons, so I refer it to the "Soviet" one.

Oh, girls, from today I am the owner of such a monster. My husband brought it from work, a colleague donated it as unnecessary. The primary task is to wash it. In this connection, the first question for knowledgeable people: can you pull out the rubber ring? Will it not be so that I will not insert it back later? And I also think to check the patency of the valves as a second step. What if they have been completely hammered in so many years? And yet, above one valve, such black plastic dangles like a rocker, it says 105 * and 120 * and there are arrows pointing in different directions. A vague understanding of why I have it, but maybe, who knows for sure? That’s how happy and concerned I am today.

Wash the pressure cooker, it will shine. But be careful when using it for the first time: do not put a large fire under it, let it slowly pick up the pressure ... The regulator, in my opinion, the pressure is more and less, that is, it will have a temperature of 105 * or 120 *. I have the letters L and H, respectively. Set to 105 * before to check the work.
These are general recommendations, but I don't know this model, so I won't say anything specifically.
The ring is usually taken out, washed and slightly oiled with vegetable oil for preservation, so that it does not lose its elasticity. Good luck and successful work!
Freken Bock
lana7386, Thank you! The pressure cooker has been washed. She is not destined to shine very much in this life, probably. Now I'll boil clean water in it and put dried fruit compote for my colleague in the hospital to cook.

105 and 120 are pressure. At 105 vegetables are boiled, at 120 - meat. At least tefal has a similar regulator

Dried fruits smell throughout the room (by the way, I hate neither dried fruit compote, nor this smell, I am fulfilling an order) And the pressure cooker continuously emits a kind of snake hiss. This is normal? That is, as she hissed, I set the fire to a minimum, but hiss is still the same.

Let it hiss ... Does steam come out from somewhere? (Shouldn't ...) Does water drip somewhere? (shouldn't ...) The smell of compote will be, because it is strong.

lana7386, steam with such a light haze periodically leaves the valve. I cooked dried fruits for 10 minutes, now the whole thing is cooling down. I will definitely tell you about the result. With all my dislike for this compote, I can tell good luck from failure.

I think it's reliable. The price is stamped on it 14 rubles. This speaks volumes. Near the handles there are two brackets, into which the cover is inserted and fixed with a screw. Most of all I am confused that it is aluminum. And not even so much, but the fact that I was cleaning this aluminum with what I could all evening. After that, I rinsed it out well, boiled water in it three times. And now I am worried about the harmfulness of this pan.
