Manyun, and the pretty ones are chureks! What is it more like? For cookies or gingerbread?

Gan, these are oriental sweets. What is the east like? .... To the sweet songs of Scheherazade or the flattering speeches of the vizier, to the cunning of the Sultan or the omnipotence of the genie?

But seriously, on gingerbread with an oriental touch. As one person wrote, "Higher than Shaker-Churek, there can be only Baku kurabye ...."

Ooh-ooh-ooh! Delicious!

And I would say that it looks more like a shortbread cookie, but it has a very characteristic "crystalline" or "grainy" dough structure. It's hard to explain - you have to try.

SchuMakher, thanks for the recipe!

Previously, these shaker-chureks were constantly sold in the department of oriental sweets and were very tasty. Now something is not visible. They have one drawback, they are very high in calories.
Thanks for the recipe, Mashunya.

Masha, I made them! Tell me, what should have been the dough? I hadn’t come across such a thing yet, it didn’t look like a dough, it didn’t gather in a lump, it was silky and crumbly to the touch, I barely formed balls. When I put them in the oven, I was afraid that after the oven I would have to smoothly move them into the bucket. But no ... But ready-made they are unusual. Outside, they are very hard, even scary for the teeth, but they melt in the mouth. Is that how it should have happened? My men liked it very much. Thank you.

AUV good luck !!!!
Maybe it depends on flour? Usually it molds well, but it feels like it's baked on the outside, and inside ... mmmmm ..... sherbet .... wah

Delicious cookies
They are exactly like oriental sweets (we were recently in Turkey, the taste is still fresh).
I would only make them smaller. Next time I will do so, and I will also try to add nuts to them and pour honey over them, just like in Turkey.
And the recipe is excellent. Thank you, SchuMakher

Mash, take the report

Sheker-Churek cookies

Thanks for the childhood memories, I grew up in a small southern town, where the Armenian diaspora grew very much after the Spitak earthquake and many oriental delicacies appeared on the market, almost homemade at that time I did not meet such shaker-chureks in stores

Of course, I haven’t succeeded yet either.
it seems to me - I overexposed them in the oven: I made them by weight 2 times less (30 g), but did not reduce the baking time, I watched everything - no, they were still very pale

I controlled the density of the dough - as soon as the bun began to roll with cracks, not smooth, I stopped adding flour: there were 100 grams left!

I make ghee with spices - kalindzhi (nigella) and leaves curry is so tasty, I used to eat it with spoons ... So the shakerchiks have a funky taste and aroma, plus real vanilla

Even softer ... well, yes, limits to perfection ...

THANKS dear for the recipe! I didn't even know about ghee
