I think pre-rinsing is soaking. I rarely use it, when the dishwasher is already partially filled, and it is far from being completely filled and, accordingly, switched on. I have a duration of this program for 7 minutes. The dishes are simply rinsed with cold water, after which the water is drained. In general, the function is necessary.
