Kindest time of the day! I read the whole topic, but I could not find my problem.
I have a Mayer & borch milk cooker, 1.5 l (something like that), and I really like to cook rolled oats in milk.In fact, the problem is that following all the instructions written by Roma on the second page, the porridge will stick, but very specifically: the bottom and in general everything below the top level of porridge is absolutely clean, not a trace of burning. However, the place on the saucepan 1 cm above the porridge on the sides, as if along the rim, becomes covered with a brownish coating, I think it burns like this. At least when you eat such porridge, there is a clear taste of "burnt" in your mouth.
Perhaps this is somehow connected with the fact that I cook porridge for one portion, that is, about 1-odd glass (only 300 ml) of milk and half a glass of rolled oats (monostyr, cooked for 20 - 25 minutes).
There is not much of this burning, such a strip is small, but the taste is very spoiled. Please respond if someone had such a problem, or if someone knows ways to solve it, or at least the reasons
Thank you!
Admin

There may be two problems:
- little water inside the pot, bath. First measure the required amount of water without porridge and then fill in just that much.
- strong fire and liquid in porridge quickly boils away - make a very small fire. And cover the porridge with a lid so that the liquid does not boil away actively.

I often cook porridge for exactly 1 cup, everything is fine.

Thank you for such a prompt reply!
I am extremely attentive to the quantity of water. I count everything down to milliliters. In total, MV holds 400 ml, I pour in 400 - 150 = 250 ml. Moreover, when I poured 400 for the first time, burning still happened.
As for strong fire, I also do not allow this. I have a strong fire (and even then, rather medium) until the moment I add the cereal and the whistle blows. Then I turn it down to such an extent that the whistle whistles slightly. The fire is actually barely visible. Cover with a lid for the entire period.

Now I will try to grease the place of burning in advance with oil, maybe it will at least give something ...
In general, I'm starting to think that MV was caught unusable (
Although it is possible, of course, such an option that all this is my gustatory hallucination. I just washed it now, and it's all practically invisible. It is, as it were, covered with white milky scale, but if you rub it off (and it is more difficult to rub off), there is such a kind of rust in a thin strip, it is also washed off. Maybe it's not any fumes, but just the porridge in MV tastes like this, and I was in vain boiling here ... Although, of course, I would not like to think, I pinned such hopes on MV ...

Refined butter in a milk cooker (in a water bath)
Tanya, this is what Ayurveda calls GHI, probably. Did you cook it, or did you just melt butter? I recently became interested in Ayurveda and just yesterday read about such an oil, which is very beneficial to health, as it turned out. Just yesterday there was a thought about a milk cooker for this. Here is about GHI and below there is a recipe for how to prepare it at the bottom of the page. Only there is a saucepan instead of a milk cooker, but, I think, in a milk cooker, of course, it is better, it will not burn.
Did you happen to do it according to the recipe?
🔗
Admin

No, Tan - that's not why It's confusing and difficult, and a lot of things are needed, and a thermometer and spoons, saucepans ...
It's easier for me: butter in a milk cooker, 50 minutes without tracking, and ... further according to my recipe. My task was to separate good oil from impurities, which are many and different in the purchased oil.
And at the same time I checked the manufacturer of the oil that I buy and eat, this normal oil turned out to be an honest manufacturer, even in the sediment residue, the oil was caught.
Now I will always do this when buying butter from different manufacturers, if they pass the test, then you can spread it raw on the butters

And the most interesting - how next? I went to look for your recipes, but things are progressing slowly, I have looked through three pages so far and each time I have to slow down on something else, there are so many goodies. All bookmarks. And everything is just so appetizing, well, that's what it is, but I wanted to go on a cleansing and unloading diet from today.
Admin

Tanyush, I have a lot of fresh vegetables, and recipes too - we urgently need to do vegetables, so catch recipes for unloading
Mona1
Exactly, I'll go look for suitable ones for unloading, and then maybe I'll get to the oil.
fronya40
Well girls !!!! I passed this topic by the side, as if it did not touch me at all, and just today, looking through new topics, I was lying with a terrible migraine, it just dawned on me !!! this is exactly what I just need now! ... and this thing is for sale right in front of my entrance in the store :-) but everything is already closed, I will tolerate and read, where are there, buy, what is on sale or look for more expensive? thanks, Admin for the topic and everyone for the feedback :-)
Mona1
Tanya, the thing is really very good and not so expensive, in principle, in comparison with many devices. I mainly make custard creams in it, but you can brew the herb, if you need to hold it in a water bath, simmer the cereals in milk, semolina, they say, is very tasty in a milk cooker. I haven't done it yet. In general, everything that is done in a water bath. If you are looking for, read the entire branch, here on the last pages the marriage was in some kind of model, the water was pouring out of the wrong place. Well, the principle is the same, BUT: not all are suitable for induction cookers, if you have one. Differences in capacity. Just keep in mind that if the capacity is written 1.5 liters, then you need to pour milk or something else - one third less, that is, porridge from a liter of milk (or less) for this option. And another very important point - see how much is written in the instructions, you can pour water between the walls. I have a very cheap 1.5 liter milk cooker. It copes with its tasks, but no more than 120 ml of water can be poured into it. So all the time I'm afraid that it will boil off there earlier than necessary, but you can't see how much is left there, and then the device may burn out. And there is 1.5 liters, but there you can pour twice as much water. Now I would buy one. And if it is more than 2 liters, then it will fit in half a liter. So carefully take into account all the nuances, read the Internet, and then ask. When you decide, then ask the seller if you can return it, if you pour water and when you tilt it, it will pour out from under the rim, like the girl had here. Otherwise, it may be difficult to resolve these issues later.
fronya40
Devrchki, seeing the topic, suffered a week with Wishlist .... went to the store 189 UAH, the beauty is worth it, went into another, worse .. but 79 .... in general I bought it cheaper, economy leaped :-) milk boiled, everything is fine! Now the next step is Porridge, I'm already in a tasting session, for breakfast, oatmeal with fruit !!!!!!! with strawberries, mmmmmmm :-) :-) :-)
Taia
fronya40 With the renewal, let it please you.
I don't use my milk cooker often - but I don't regret buying it.
I like milk porridge only from her. Neither on the stove in an ordinary saucepan, nor in a multicooker does this work.
Mirabel
fronya40,
With new clothes! Let it please!
I will also order this thing for myself.
AlenaT
In my completely inexpensive milk, I boil on average a couple of times a week ...
For a couple of years now. Everything is fine!
fronya40
Girls! I am so happy with the new toy !!! boiled milk, as if I had not boiled it before
But I want to cook porridge tomorrow morning. I just think it will be good for me, every morning I eat 200 grams of porridge, cook 5 liters in a multi, and now I'll try to cook it in a small one!
Mona1
Tanya, congratulations! Delicious porridge for you, write later how it turned out and what and how you cooked it.

Sure you may.

I cooked oat milk porridge with strawberries! I liked the process! Maybe someone will not be attracted by this, but kitchen hobbies are so addictive! Yesterday I was telling a friend who has only a gas stove and pots from kitchen appliances, she just twisted her palt, she says, but you can't cook on the stove? I say you can, but not so interesting and without a whistle accompaniment! And then the whistle was like an alarm clock, I could not wake my daughter up, and then raaaaaz and came to the smithy, she said, what a terrible sound ?? and I - rise !!!!!! go glue the wallpaper, otherwise you keep sleeping and sleeping
And porridge paaaahnet so sincerely !!!!
But already one BUT, here they warned, but I forgot, seeing the price, here I have to pour 100 ml of water, but for the porridge it was enough .. nothing, if I like it, I'll buy another. I saw such a heavy, powerful dish in our House of Dishes :-)
Taia
Well, yes, 100ml is not enough.
Mine holds 400ml.

And I do not tell, I know the reaction in advance. I am only here, on the forum, I find like-minded people.

fronya40
And in my 400, I just measured it :-) on the advice of Admin, only now I reread the topic and ran to measure. On the box it was written that to pour 100 ml. so I thought ...
The porridge is eaten !!!!! delicious!!! Strawberries froze so much, now there is where to shove them. I liked the porridge and the process. SChs put the child with a cold to cook, whistles into the kitchen.

I recently made a recipe for this
🔗
just put 1 spoon more sugar. And after boiling, I kept it on minimum heat in a milk cooker for 5-7 minutes. True, my cocoa is not the same brand as in the recipe, I have Belarusian one, it is the best among the ones sold here.
Well, it turned out very tasty.
Lenny
I have written 350ml. But, when the water boils, it spits on the stove. Therefore, I pour less. In general, it would be nice to do, as in electric kettles, the scale is so transparent, and everything is visible. Girls, how do you add water in the process?
Piano
here someone advised to top up in portions using 100 g of an enema, at first I tried, then I realized that my milk cooker does not need - it has about a liter (800 ml for sure) - and does not have time to boil.
Lenny
Elena, great how. And which company is the saucepan?
Mona1
By the way, it is better not to pour water from the tap, but ideally distilled water. So that scale does not form inside. I pour water after the osmosis filter. It turns out to be practically distilled. In the teapot, for example, there is no scale from it.

It seems that the Kharkov Aviation Plant is a Soviet three-liter aluminum pan, a large volume for a small amount

I made condensed milk in saucepans on the stove, having arranged a water bath. For two hours a glass of milk boiled down! It was a death match: I am against the milk "Kubanskaya Burenka", and there should have been someone alone.
In general, the result is a very tasty BOILED condensed milk with a smoky flavor. But I realized that the process needs to be optimized somehow.

I wonder if it is possible to cook cottage cheese in it?

Taichka, from this place in more detail please ...

Porridge, you say, tastes better than they come out in a multicooker?

I don't even know straight ...

Buy it yourself already or what?

For a long time I have a grudge against this little thing, I still can't make up my mind ...

Krosh, how do you define deliciousness? I do not know...
After all, I bought a milk cooker primarily for brewing herbs, I drink long courses 2 times a year.
But when I cooked porridge - WOW! Now I eat porridge, but not before.
And if you like it in the cartoon, then she won't be.
Mirabel
Today I also received my milk cooker.
Only there is no whistle in it, how do you know if the water is boiling ...
Tomorrow I'll cook porridge in it for breakfast.
Mirabel
There is no one here;) everyone is buying more seriously, only I am ... talking to myself.
The castrulka was smallish. I myself can only taste porridge from it. But this is so lovely! The porridge turns out to be luxurious!
Doubters (if there are any) cast off all doubts! I don't know how much tastier it turns out than in the cartoon ... but I don't regret it at all. what did you buy! I will cook in it too!

The farm will come in handy! Sometimes cook porridge in a cartoon, sometimes in a milk cooker ..
I came across a tiny milk cooker, but I'm still happy as an elephant.
Vasilica
Oh, today I praised myself so much that I did not give the milk cooker. With the advent of little Redik, I cook porridge only in it with a delay for the morning.
In the morning I got up and decided to just look into the cartoon, suddenly add some milk. And there the porridge curdled. It turns out that the milk was sour. I dug up a milk cooker at a run and quickly put in another porridge. When my husband came from a run, a hot breakfast was ready, and I was not standing at the stove.

And I got my Tescomochka. She is really so pretty, neat (albeit 2 liters), very well made. The test was carried out with rice porridge. She poured 500 ml of water into the whistle (as in the instructions), cooked porridge from 1 liter of milk. The water boiled after 7 minutes, and the whistle is really filled with a nightingale, I liked it, it does not look like a kettle at all. I fell asleep with cereals, reduced the heat, and he so quietly unobtrusively "snored", I even stopped noticing him. Turned off after 30 minutes. When I drained the water, I specially measured how much of it still remained. It turned out that 200 ml had boiled away, and 300 ml were discharged into the residue. As for porridge, it is definitely tastier than in a slow cooker. The porridge turned out steamed, but not a mess, all the grains kept their shape!

Milk cooker - cooking in a water bath
Mona1
Congratulations, cool little thing! Water after use can not be drained, but left and then topped up the next time you use it.And in order to know when refilling how much water there is already, it is enough to measure the weight of an empty milk cooker on kitchen scales and then, weighing it with water, you can understand how much water there is inside. Maybe there is a lot of it left, that's how you have 300 ml and for the next cooking it will be enough and you won't need to top it up. Water - preferably distilled or purified with an osmosis filter.

Uraaaaa, now I took my milk cooker Rondell !!!!!!
Am I faced with a choice to buy a universal MV for boiling milk or is it a low-function milk jug?

Tell me:
1. Milk really shouldn't be guarded? It won't run away under any circumstances?
2. Does the whistle spray water? I read in one of the reviews that in other milk cookers, in which the whistle is located below, water splashes strongly. Then on the ceramic surfaces of the slabs, an irremovable white deposit remains
3. For what else is it really possible to use this miracle?

Thank you.
