What is a robot vacuum cleaner?

Robot vacuum cleaners from iRobot - effective help for cleaning any complexity

Roomba and Scooba are compact robotic vacuum cleaners that help you clean at any time. Having bought such a vacuum cleaner, you can go about your business, and he will do all the work without your participation. Compact dimensions (diameter 33-37 cm, height - no more than 9.5 cm), allow you to place it even in small rooms.

The robotic vacuum cleaners are equipped with the AWARE ™ artificial intelligence system. This system makes the robot vacuum cleaner a tool for efficient automatic cleaning. Dozens of sensors used to monitor the space monitor the process.

* Thanks to artificial intelligence, the robot vacuum cleaner analyzes the configuration and relief of the room and selects the optimal cleaning route.
* The robot is even able to avoid height differences.
* The robot vacuum cleaner can independently determine the degree of contamination.
* Automatic cleaning will be carried out especially carefully in the most polluted places.

What is AI? Let's figure it out.

AI is implemented on a self-learning neural network. Let's consider the simplest neural network of three neurons. Two neurons will be input and one will be output. Let's connect the input neurons with the output straight segments (synapses). Let's say the first input neuron receives 1, and the second receives 0. What will happen on the output neuron, 0 or 1?

It depends on the coefficients that we write over the segments. Let's say we wrote 0.5 above the first and 0.5 above the second. This means that in half of the cases 1 will be written in the output neuron, and in half - 0. Is it too simple?

And so it is. Difficulties arise later when there are several billion of these neurons, and they become overgrown with numerous connections and are organized into a multilayer structure, where numerous layers of hidden neurons are located between the input and output neurons. Who writes these weights?

The neural network itself writes. Yeah, depending on the result. If the result is successful, then the weight of the corresponding coefficients is increased. If unsuccessful, then - decreases.

So, it turns out that the neural network has no predetermination, no determinism? Yes, no. A neural network is a dynamic, constantly changing and self-improving system.

Was it easy for us quantum theoretical physicists to think of this? Well, well, I'll be honest:

- Not easy!

What device is used as a neuron? Well ... usually, our neurons are ... protons, yeah. After all, the proton is practically an ideal candidate for the role of a neuron. Why?

Look. We put on the proton surface a grid of cells with a side equal to the Planck length. And then we draw vectors from the center of the proton to the center of these cells. I got about 1040 vectors. This is nothing more than the number of spin states of the proton.

And in a nonlocal state, a proton is in a superposition of these states. In the quantum sense of the word. How can this circumstance be used? In the case of qubits, it is clear that this allows you to create a quantum register of 1040 qubits. And in the case of neurons?

The weight coefficients vary from 0 to 1. So, the step between two adjacent coefficients will be equal to 10-40. Which, in general and in general, is not so bad. Oh, come on, what is there ... It's just great! Anyway, the best one hasn't been invented yet.

Although ... I do not exclude that the lads from the Novosibirsk academic town could have found something new. At the very least, graters on this topic occur regularly on all clogged points and gangways.

What acts as synapses between protons? Quantum entanglement. And also the interference of de Broglie waves.

So can consciousness appear in a neural network? Yes, easily, what are the problems? After all, what is consciousness? Frankly, I've never thought about it before, but I think a couple of minutes will be enough for me to find the answer to this question.

Everything that has been said so far about the impossibility of creating an artificial consciousness is subjectivism and anthropocentrism of the purest water. Yeah, combined with voluntarism and bonapartism.)

Roomba and Scooba are robotic vacuum cleaners that successfully clean around the legs of tables and chairs, robots penetrate the space under furniture, vacuum cleaners recognize steps. In order to start the robot vacuum cleaner, you must press one button. The robot vacuum cleaner will choose a route without your participation, in addition, such a vacuum cleaner will return to the base to recharge on its own. Information taken from the site 🔗

Attention, there are cheaper analogs.

The first charge of 16 hours is required. Even if the indicator lights up green, you can not remove from the charging. Do not turn on the vacuum cleaner until the first 16 hours of charging.

Review of the robot vacuum cleaner with the possibility of wet cleaning the premises-M-788 Ldeath
Andrei
Yes, the robot vacuum cleaner is cool, I read a lot about them

So far, there are many complaints about the quality of cleaning - they are low-powered, that is, the suction power is small, which means they can only cope with small debris ... They do not draw up an apartment plan, they cannot remove it in the corners, some models freeze under certain obstacles, problems with bardyurchik and many, many other problems

BUT, there is one but - it is very convenient, especially if a large apartment and there are animals - he can constantly clean himself! No need to think about dust and wool

I would like such a device
Alen delonghi
I think everything is pure truth. But!
1) They are intended for routine cleaning, not general cleaning.
2) The plan of the apartment is not needed - it goes around the whole room several times in a few hours. There are devices for them - virtual barriers. They prevent the robot from going where it doesn't need to be.
3) The last robots do not fall off the steps and do not hang on the curbs (I read this on the site). But, of course, it is desirable that the floor be free.
4) Sold in Kiev at a price significantly higher than the American one. It's easier to buy in America over the Internet and pay by card. The parcel arrives to me in Kiev within 3 days to 14 days (depending on what's there).

After repairing the apartment, I will definitely buy a couple of robotic vacuum cleaners and one floor washer. Now this set costs about $ 700. I think a little more - and it will cost about 500 or even less.
Mams
Alen delonghi, I totally agree. I understand that they appeared on sale 2-3 years ago, and some write that they are Spanish, and some that it is Germany. Well that's okay. But I also thought the price was too high. This is probably why there are not very many of them on the network. And in real form - I have never seen it. Moreover, the descriptions are all the same, the site-manufacturer in Russian does not work at all, they do not go for that kind of money. A device from the series - who has money for it - keep cooks at home

But if the price is 300-400 dollars ... maybe we really need it. See how multicooker became popular among connoisseurs ...I do not think that a kitchen robot for a normal price will be less popular.

IRR, I have both a washing and a sweeper. In mutual love and bliss. And I have the same feelings for them.

Are there robots without virtual walls? Both of mine have them, so they are devoid of these disadvantages.

Well, here I am !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I welcome everyone !!!

Well, I get it. First I need to save money for Rumba ... Rumba ... 530 (560, 570), and then for 340 Skumba.

But why do I need LightHouse? Does it have something to do with virtual walls?

The apartment is a Khrushchev, crammed with furniture, as befits a Khrushchev. One Persian cat. 50% of the area is carpets.

And the baseboards, she ... it ... do they wash?
prascovia
Hello everybody! I ask for help! it became possible to choose a gift for NG. I want a robot cleaner, but I just can't choose! There is a cat that sheds from time to time, there is a very mobile three-year-old child and a very principled husband "folded" in cleanliness. So I have a general cleaning almost every day.
I need, as I understand it, 2 in one and sweeping and washing.
Please help with choosing a model!
Rita
prascovia,
I haven't heard of such robots yet.
If you don't have carpets, then the Scuba robot cleaner is probably the right choice for your daily cleaning. I don't know how he handles cat hair though. It seems that among the Rumb - sweepers - there is a specialist in cleaning the hair of pets, although in appearance he does not differ from usually.

Both of my robots also come from there and work through a small transformer. But those that are sold with us (we are talking about the IROBOT models - Roomba and Scooba) come with a transformer.

Alas, prascoviaThere are no such robots yet. Well, just imagine - in this case, in such a small pancake, it would be necessary to fit both the reservoir for the sucked up garbage, and the containers for clean and dirty water, not to mention the mechanism itself. However, both of my assistants, standing on top of each other, take up very little space.

No, Rita, will not work. Scooba cleans already swept floors perfectly. He does not collect garbage very well. I (I already wrote) both a fluffy cat and a shedding dog, and so Roomba deals with their fur.
prascovia
Yes, I already ran into the e-bay and found a bracket and a diamond, and the price spread is huge, but the sellers do not write their washing and dusting device, but only write about the power. And I have already decided on the principle - I want a vacuum cleaner.

In our stores that sell consumables for electronics, special devices are sold that transform our voltage into American. A friend of mine ordered a vacuum cleaner from America and bought this device. And now everything works great for her.
I came across a discussion of a robot on ixbt. So, I quote: The manual specifically states that transformers are not used. In addition, they eat and buzz. There they go the other way. Redesign the power supply

And there is also something interesting: It is very important to use the battery regularly and avoid deep discharge and prolonged discharged state. If the battery stands in a disconnected vacuum cleaner for 4 weeks - this is almost a sentence for the battery. She will not live long.
I also noticed that the batteries are dying rapidly. Here the dust worked, worked for a year and a half or two, and literally in two weeks the battery "fades". What is called the end crept up unnoticed.
I think users will find it useful.
volvox
And the battery really dies if not charged. I had a long history with the repair of the scuba, in the end I repaired the warranty at my own expense and it took the whole summer to do this. Nobody charged the battery, now it lasts 15 minutes. We must go for a new one.
Pakat
I have no animals, but before starting Scooba, I go through the floor with a brush, small debris, pieces, hair, then it will be easier for the robot to wash and the filter becomes less clogged.
In general, it is good if Roomba and Scooba are paired, one vacuuming first, then the other washing.
Wait for an answer from dopleta and Hairpin, they both have robots and animals too ...
Sergey Kornilov
That is, are you sure for sure that Scuba alone will not cope?
Can you try running it on an uncleaned floor? Will not small crumbs and hair be sucked in?
dopleta
Of course, they will be sucked in, but not in such quantity and not as high quality as a specially created robot vacuum cleaner. They have different functions. Scuba - for washing. Even after Rumba in Scuba, the filter and the tube get dirty, so, excuse me, I will not run it on an unvacuum floor.
Boo Boo
Obviously they make less noise than usual, but they make noise. You can close the dog in another room while the robot cleans up.

I didn't want Scuba. I have laminate everywhere, in the kitchen and in the hallway too. We take off our shoes outside the apartment. The wool worried me the most, after Rumba the floor looks clean, and once a week I use a mop.

Still infa, Scuba washes tiles perfectly, it is especially good for porous tiles. Washes seams to their original shine.

Well, also, Rumba hair removes. No problem. I have a Rhodesian Ridgeback, Golden (very shaggy) and a ferret.
marinal
Girls, maybe I missed ... but for information, please answer how long does it take for the robot to clean a 20-meter room (all other rooms I just have less) ?? And yet I still did not understand in the places where the carpet lies, does the robot run around it or climb up and clean it too ?? if it cleans it is a sweeping process rather than pulling in dust correctly.
Of course, I'm not planning a purchase for tomorrow, but I still want it and probably a washing one ... or shouldn't I overpay?
Hairpin
Marinal!
1. It's not always about size. If it's empty, then ... probably twenty minutes. But if there is a lot of furniture, then ... forever! Well, until the battery runs out ...
2. He climbs on carpets, slides and does not chew the fringe;
3. There are two robots. One draws in dust, and the second spills the liquid, puffs it in and draws the liquid back.
Svetlana2010
2kashevar, say shook. Do you have a Scuba, and then you Rumba credit? Or do you still need to sweep the floors before using Scuba, and therefore you want more Rumba? I just now have a question, which of them should I buy first? I just hate to sweep (dust, hair from a dog and a cat), and I don’t like to wash the floors in the bathtub and toilet (there tiles and hair from the dog are difficult to remove), and in the kitchen I don’t like to wash the floors from grease. That's all now at a crossroads, advise good people where to go and who to take home first.

so you decide what you don’t like anymore - revenge or wash, and it will become clear what to buy first!

and before washing the scooby you need to sweep sweep. this is an important point and was written about in this thread.
Pakat
Svetlana2010, I only have Scooba, be sure to sweep before washing.
The robot has a low landing, it will carry garbage around the room if you don't sweep it ...
Boo Boo
Be sure to sweep, I specifically asked my friends. I think that we need to start with the rumba, and then the scuba will catch up.

easy.
If you have money, then take this one. But I honestly don't see the need for your case. If you will be at home during the cleaning, then you can easily get by with 505 and one stopper if there are no doors. IMHO

I'll be home, but I'm going to sleep at this time.

And why the limiter? On the contrary, I need to climb everywhere. Or did I not understand something?

Interestingly, he will not lose contact with the base if he rests far into another room?

Do all models have the same dust container capacity? He collects so much dirt for me on such an area that a small dust collector will not be enough. Probably.

Scuba - which one with a sink? And what about two? But it seems to have come. Scuba can't just vacuum, she washes. Would be ideal, but there are still too many rugs all over the first floor. The second dog is a Molossian teenager and in order not to damage the joints on the smooth floor (tiles), everything is chaotically laid. Not only does it interfere with washing (at first, you need to collect everything. You also can't walk on a wet floor (legs and paws are parted, it's checked). I don't even know. But I seem to want anyone to wash, not I.

BooBoo, I'm really stupid in this matter so far, if anything, don't laugh. I just have the experience of cleaning floors with a washing vacuum cleaner. When water is sprayed with a special shampoo, and then collected with a special brush and suction. This is bullshit, not washing floors, to be honest.

Quote: kolynusha

Neo, while there is no Dopplet, I will answer. If the purchase price exceeds 10t. rub., then according to our legislation you must pay 30% of the amount in excess of these 10t. rub. (at the post office). Shipping costs are not included, so you pay 10 + 2 thousand rubles.

The situation changed back in July. Now the import restriction is 1 thousand euros. So, you can safely order any vacuum cleaner.

Scarecrow
My dogs, by the way, saw all this in the coffin and they don't even lead an eyebrow at my Pina and Nyusha (home nicknames have already appeared).

Admin

Little experience, but I already figured something out. This is certainly not my turbo-brush dyson beast. In my opinion, this is a wonderful thing for every day. I have a quirk - I go barefoot around the house and I hate it when the crumbs stick to the soles. Plus two dogs (ate, drooling, swine, crumbled, wool, etc.). That is, garbage is collected daily. Every day (or almost every day) robots will keep the house clean at a fairly high level. And once a week (or even less often, someone else, and I used an ordinary vacuum cleaner to vacuum almost every day, I have such a quirk), you can go through the carpet with a powerful vacuum cleaner (after all, the baby-Pin won't suck the carpet) and upholstered furniture and then climb into all the cracks where the robot has not reached in a week.
Small things, I remove toys from the floor, the rest - as it is, and vacuum. However, I have quite large areas and the furniture is very loose. Therefore, there were no such treacherous places with narrow gaps.

But I liked Nyusha-scrubber (aka scuba) extremely. The kitchen is cleaned very well. Moreover, I have a tile. I like that you can at least not buy consumables (detergent): you can just wash it with water or water with vinegar.
This fool climbed in my hallway on the strip of floor between the cabinet of the refrigerator and the stairs to the basement (drop down). There the width of the strip is exactly the width of the scuba, so she somehow miraculously managed to get in there, but to leave .... She poked and poked, puffed, twisted, fidgeted, then squeaked and the icon lit up: "Y-y-y-s . I'm stuck-ah-ah-ah-ah! " Poured Nyusha. So she got the name.

How to determine that your robot is intended for the European and Russian markets?
This means that it is safe for use on the territory of Russia and it is covered by warranty service at an authorized service center.

This can be identified by the serial number on the box or on the robot itself.

"Correct" modifications intended for the Russian market, safe to operate in Russia and subject to warranty service:

Roomba: 50504 52004 53004 55504 56004 56204 56304 58004 58104

Roomba 62504 for professional cleaning of a large area of the house

Scooba: 38504

Since 2010, Roomba 505, 520, 555, 562, 563, 581 and Scooba 385 models have been sold in Russia

Make sure the serial number on the box matches the serial number on the robot itself.

On the territory of Russia, unadapted robots imported from the United States are often found. These modifications are not intended for the Russian market, are unsafe in operation and are not subject to warranty service obligations.

The modifications listed below are not intended for the Russian market:

43000 53001 56001 56201 57001 61001 5999 6000 6050

I still have a question.
Do they keep all their vacuum cleaners on charge?
This week, it turned out that I did not start the robots for 5 days, as a result, the land was completely discharged, the scuba worked out an incomplete water tank and that withered away ... But somehow I’m not ready to keep them on charge constantly. Can batteries be pulled out when not in use?

I looked, it looks like I need to unscrew it to get it. How do you take it out then?
