Ingredients

Wheat flour 3/4 cup
Sugar 3/4 cup
baking powder 3/4 cup
Butter 55 g

Cocoa powder (not Dutch process) * 1/3 cup

+ instant espresso or coffee
2 tbsp. l.
1 tsp
Vanilla essence or kirsha 1 tsp
Small Chocolate Chips
or chopped chocolate

Dried sour cherries 1/3 cup
Powdered sugar** 3/4 cup

Cooking method

  • * with the Dutch process cocoa (black cocoa) the cookies will be very diffuse.
  • ** most of the powder will remain unused.

  • Preheat oven to 180 ° C / 350 ° F.
  • Line baking trays with baking paper.

  • Whisk dry ingredients (from flour to salt).
  • Melt butter in a small bowl, add cocoa and stir until smooth. Add egg, coffee and vanilla, stirring well after each addition.

  • Add the chocolate mixture to the flour, mix a little with a wooden spoon (the dough will be crumbly), add the chocolate chips and cherries, mix well until the dough is smooth (the dough will first crumble and then form into a lump).

  • Form 24 balls (~ 2.5-3 cm) from the dough.
  • For convenience, I form a bar from the dough and cut it into 24 parts - first into 2 parts, then into 4 parts, etc., or you can simply pinch off the pieces of dough with your hand or a tablespoon.

  • Dip the balls in powdered sugar and then repeat the process (for a thicker sugar coating).

  • Place the balls on a baking sheet at a distance of 5 cm.

  • Bake for 12-15 minutes; the cookie will crack, but the inside will still be soft.

  • Cool on a baking sheet for 3-5 minutes and transfer to a wire rack.

  • Store in a sealed container.
  • The dough can be frozen.

I did everything according to the recipe, I reduced the sugar to 100 grams, put the cherries and chocolate droplets in 50 grams each, instead of the vanilla essence I used cherry, oh, and I'll tell you a fragrant thing !!!
