Maybe something could be fried in it, but imagine how long it will take for the saucepan to reach the desired temperature. Plus, when trying to fry, a sharp temperature drop is simply possible, and this is fraught - the saucepan can burst elementarily. In general, in a slow cooker, such a high temperature is simply not assumed and the power of the heating element will not be enough.

As for pouring, you may not completely fill in if the product being prepared is juicy enough to add liquid.

You just need to pre-fry the meat so that it is covered with a crust on top - this retains moisture inside the piece during further cooking.
