Rhubarb-banana jam

Ingredients

Rhubarb 700 gr.
Sugar 700 gr.
Bananas (weight without peel) 300 gr.

Cooking method

  • The rhubarb season is approaching (and for some it has already begun), I propose a recipe for a sooooo delicious jam. Since we don't have fresh rhubarb yet, I cooked it from frozen.
  • My rhubarb, clean, cut into pieces. We put it in a bowl, in which we will cook, fill it with sugar, stir and leave for a couple of hours. (T. for rhubarb I have ice cream, I thawed it, drained the liquid, covered it with sugar and immediately on the stove)
  • Rhubarb-banana jam
  • Rhubarb-banana jam
  • We put our saucepan (basin) on the stove, bring to a boil, reduce heat and cook rhubarb until soft. (It took me about 10 minutes)
  • Rhubarb-banana jam
  • Add the sliced banana
  • Rhubarb-banana jam
  • And boil for another 10-15 minutes. Cool and place in clean jars.
  • Rhubarb-banana jam

The dish is designed for

1 liter jar + 300 gr. jar

Time for preparing:

1 hour

Note

How long it is stored, I cannot say, because it is eaten instantly. Usually we cook in June, it "does not live up to autumn"

I love everything about rhubarb
We have been living in Vladimir for 27 years, but I have never seen rhubarb on sale, neither in the market nor in a store. It remains to look and envy
Elven
Tatyana, what a pity. We have a huge "bump" of rhubarb growing in our garden.
celfh
Lena, but I still put it in my bookmarks, and suddenly, in Vladimir, someone will grow a "bump" of rhubarb
Elven
Tatyana, surely someone grows
Crochet
I cook "five minutes" according to a very similar recipe, only I have 500 gr. peeled rhubarb goes 250 gr. bananas and 250 gr. sugar (in the recipe 500 gr.).

Lenochka, you are so smart that you brought the recipe to the masses !!!

The combination of rhubarb and bananas is really very, very !!!
Elven
Yeah, we cooked the same. But I like thick and more bananas shob
irysikf
And here is my beloved rhubarb, where can I get so much rhubarb to get ice cream, pies, jam, and compote - after all, I want everything at once
Elven
Ira, and nowhere to plant? Your climate is warm, during the summer you can harvest rhubarb 2 times
irysikf
If I had my own house, rhubarb would grow for sure, but only on the market I have to buy, oh-ho-ho-ho, but they rarely bring it to the nearest market, and grannies always wonder why I need so much rhubarb (there are 2-3 small I look for the beam and take it), for some reason they perceive it as weeds
Elven
Hmm ... sorry. They really mistake him for a weed. I would love to share with you.

My friend lives in Kiev, she always envied her that apricots grow in the middle of the road. Under her window there are apple trees and apricots and cherries

irysikf
We also have apricots, cherries and an apple tree growing under our house - I suspect that this is a standard set for Kiev courtyards, you could try planting rhubarb - maybe someone won't cut it while I'm at work

That's it, I envy this. Theoretically, of course it is possible, but where is the guarantee that, for example, the dog will not be allowed to go for a walk, if only to fence off with something
irysikf

for example, they won't let the dog go for a walk
oh, but somehow I didn’t think about it, although just all the tenants of the dogs walk under the house with all the ensuing charms. I always remember an anecdote on this topic "a couple with a dog chooses an apartment in a real estate agency:
-which floor?
-third
-super!
- what is the condition of the apartment?
-only after renovation, modern new mabel, all equipment is new.
-super!
- how are things with the neighbors?
- quiet, polite neighbors from all sides.
-perfectly!
For all other inquiries, questions, all the answers are simply superb, such an apartment comes across once every hundred years ...
And here's the last question:
- Is there a playground near the house?
- Unfortunately, there is no.
- oh, then excuse me, this option does not suit us - where are we going to walk the dog ...
Elven

Well, but seriously, you can try to negotiate with some grandmother on the market to bring more for sale. Tell her that you will take wholesale rhubarb from her
irysikf
I can't do that until one of the children gets sick, then I, then the children will get up late and while all the grandmothers are going to leave, then the weather is not flying with the children to go to the market, and there is no one to sit with them on weekends, my husband always works on weekends , there are no relatives in Kiev to help. And I don't want to let people down. Therefore, while I have only one option - I go when I can, buy what remains
Elven
Then I wish you and your children no longer get sick and good luck in your search for rhubarb.
irysikf
Thank you very much! And all the best to you

All markers are different in taste and color ...

I'm all for the variety !!!

Yesterday I fell three kilos of rhubarb, treated me ...

Diversify - I don't want to ...

Yesterday I was "five minutes" according to the recipe above I made it, today I was drinking tea with her, but honestly, I can't even imagine the same thing, but with sugar 1: 1 ...

Everywhere, in all jams / confitures, sugar is half at once ...

But then again ... markers ...

This is for sure. I actually eat jams and jams a lot (because the next day they'll get out on my face), but I love the shob, they were thick, they didn't drain off a piece of loaf

I bought rhubarb as much as 2 bundles, it turned out peeled 600 gr. When I cooked without bananas, I really liked it, it was also delicious with bananas, but it seemed a bit sweet to me, maybe the bananas were sweet, though I haven't tasted it cold and, so to speak, insisted, I will taste it in the evening and unsubscribe. In general, I liked the jam, and now there will be an opportunity to bake your delicious roll in the original
Elven
Ira,
You can put less sugar. When it is infused it will be tastier

olgavas
Girls, tell me, what part of rhubarb should be used in jam, pies, etc. I have a rhubarb mound, but what is edible there? Forgive the ignorant.
Elven
olgavas, petioles. Leaves cannot be eaten

That is, it is necessary to tear off the leaves and discard, and use the stems. Thank you. We need to make jam.

Made according to your recipe, it turned out super, sour, what you need. I would definitely be sweet according to the author's recipe!

Thanks author , if it were not for your topic, I would not have known that such a jam can be made ... the whole vegetable garden in rabarbar, I did not even think that such a delicious thing could be made!

Elven, from the leaves chic cabbage rolls are obtained.

As far as I know, the leaves are poisonous. They are high in oxalic acid
hasia
Since early spring I have been making stuffed cabbage rolls only from rhubarb leaves and so on for many years. While everyone is alive. True, I put them out in sour cream.
Elven
Elena, I do not argue. And even more so I do not say that it is deadly to eat leaves

It is red because I break out the petioles completely, with red ends (the growth point itself is not damaged). I like it that way.
