Carrot 150 g
Celery root 75 g
Parsley root 75 g
Onion 1/2 medium
Chicken eggs 4 things.
Pickled cucumbers 160 g
Homemade mayonnaise 6 tbsp. l.
Mustard 2 tsp
Salt pepper taste
Apple 1 piece, medium size

Cooking method

  • Immediately, I will make a reservation that there are many recipes for Czech potato salad, some of them are on the forum, but I am sharing a classic recipe that has survived at least since the 18th century and is present at the holiday tables of Czechs to this day.
  • And so, carefully wash the potatoes and boil them in their uniforms. It is important to take potatoes that do not boil too much. Clean while still warm. Wash carrots and roots, clean, boil and cool. Instead of parsley root, you can take the same celery (150 g in total) or parsnip root. Vegetables mode in small cubes, transfer to a spacious bowl or saucepan. Add pickled cucumbers cut into small cubes, mayonnaise, mustard, salt, pepper and stir. Pour 2 tbsp of finely chopped onion. l. cucumber pickle, let stand for a while and add everything together to the salad. Stir in the diced hard-boiled eggs and the thinly diced peeled apple. You can salt the salad to taste, pepper it and let it stand in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours (or better overnight).
  • Despite its simplicity, the salad is very tasty! I advise you to immediately boldly cook a double portion. They always make mayonnaise for it themselves, but if in a hurry, use the ready-made one.
