Cooking method

  • If anyone is not in the know, then in 2012 the end of the world awaits us. This follows from the chronicles of either the Maya or the Incas. Most likely the Maya, because they lived closer to the modern United States. But we will talk about the Incas, because today's dish was born exactly in their ancient empire.
  • It should be noted that Maya is a nationality. And the Incas are not at all a nationality, they are rather an estate, or a special status of those living in the empire. The Incas was the name of the highest caste of the huge (at that time) population of the country stretching from modern Panama to Chile, and more specifically:
  • - the highest nobility (including the Supreme Ruler) and members of his family - princes and princesses;
  • - generals;
  • - persons awarded the title "Inca" by the Supreme Ruler for their merits;
  • - know the peoples conquered by the Incas, including the rulers of the Settlements;
  • - priests and other representatives of the cult of the Sun;
  • - sorcerers and fortunetellers;
  • - judges and investigators
  • - warriors (who had 27 levels by the way)
  • The rest of the population could not be called Incas, but consisted of "Khatun Runa" (conditionally free) and "Yanacons" (prisoners of war, vagabonds and barbarians).
  • The meaning of this division was, of course, material issues. The Incas could do anything, and the Yanacons could do whatever was left.
  • Isn't it curious?
  • Well, this empire had a very long coastline. And due to the mountainous landscape, there was a lack of hunting grounds. Therefore, the main source of animal protein was fish and other seafood. And since citrus fruits grew in abundance around, the Incas naturally developed a way to denature protein with acid, for example, lemon juice, which has almost the same effect as heat treatment.
  • Thus, several thousand years ago a dish appeared, which is known today under its Spanish name "seviche". Moreover, it is spelled in different ways: “cebiche”, “ceviche”, “sebitche” ... It is prepared only from raw products, no fire, eaten immediately, is very popular throughout South America, and now, I hope, they will love it and the regulars of the Bread Maker. RU.
  • Small comments. The fish should be white, fresh and salty. Shrimp can be cooked-frozen and thawed. The pepper should be hot. Lemons and limes are juicy. Garlic - crushed. Onions - red and cut into half rings. Greens - finely chopped. Mix everything in a bowl and put in a cold place for thirty minutes.
  • Well, it will be very tasty. And, importantly, beautiful. Just as the beloved deserves.

It seems to me that for this dish, fish and shrimp must be caught by ourselves.

Isn't it curious?

highly

question. And this is a dish for the Incas or for conventionally early free personalities? And what does it depend on - the degree of freshness of seafood?
Ilona
The dish is curious! The description, or rather the liner to it, is interesting and very informative! And most importantly, mind you, and you don't need to cook or steam! Doppletin husband, why do you need a slow cooker ?! The Incas did not have it and, you see, how great they did it! And you, we are all witnesses, are doing great! Otherwise, be lazy with a cartoon and stop pleasing us with interesting recipes and their prehistory! ...
Joke. I don't pretend to be a cartoon (yet)

And this is a dish for the Incas or for conventionally early free personalities?

IRR, you asked not a very simple question. Let's reason logically: if this dish was allowed to be eaten by anyone without getting in, and not just the noble Incas (and the siblings who joined them), then the ephemeral line between the nobility and the rabble would be slowly erased. Today they (the rabble) would eat quality food, tomorrow they would want to eat from golden plates, and then, God forbid, they would also think about voting. I believe that this would be a dead-end path in the development of the Inca civilization. So, apparently, only the bosses were happy with the fresh seafood. And they told their court clerks to put the recipe on their belts (after all, the Incas had a nodular writing, accessible only to those who had money for clothes). This is how the recipe has survived to this day.

How interesting! And even with garlic ...

Dear Ikra, I have absolutely not forgotten my promise for a recipe with garlic, but without its smell. Unfortunately, I sometimes have to go to work, so I can't devote all the time to my favorite business of cooking delicious things and discussing this process with like-minded people. I undertake to liquidate the debt before the end of my favorite month of March.

why did the ancient civilization die, why? UFOs and mystical forces were already blamed for the drought ... and the casket, it turns out, was just opening

* Every day at nine in the morning I have to go to my magistrate. I won't say that this is a feat, but in general there is something heroic about it. *

As I understand you! They are always distracting from their favorite activities.

Yeah. I'm at a loss - I don't recognize my husband. IRR, don't think about it - I actually live with a very light, funny and witty person, honestly (you know me)! Not with this nerd nerd. I don’t correspond with him at home! He, apparently, at the computer immediately turns into the official style of correspondence.
