Ingredients

Poppy 60 g
Flour, premium 250 g
Baking powder 1 tsp
Ground cloves 0.5 tsp
Ground cinnamon 0.5 tsp
Sugar 150 g in dough +1 tbsp. l. with a slide to sprinkle
Kefir 120 ml
Soda 0.5 tsp
Egg (C1) 2 pcs.
Butter 120 g

Cooking method

  • Poppy spiced cupcakePour flour mixed with baking powder, poppy seeds, sugar, ground cloves and cinnamon into a bowl.
  • Poppy spiced cupcakePour soda into kefir.
  • Poppy spiced cupcakeStir until foam appears.
  • Poppy spiced cupcakePour into a bowl. Add softened butter. Shake the eggs with a fork, add to all the other ingredients, leaving literally 1 tbsp. l. for greasing the cake.
  • Poppy spiced cupcakeStir the dough quickly until smooth. It turns out to be very thick.
  • Poppy spiced cupcakePut in a dish greased with vegetable oil. My size is 11x21 cm, height is 6 cm.
  • Poppy spiced cupcakeBrush the surface with the remaining beaten egg and sprinkle with sugar. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees for 35 minutes. Take out the finished cake and immediately run it with a spatula around the edges, otherwise the sugar will solidify and set.

Note

The cake turns out to be airy, tender, with an interesting spicy taste. The original sugar crust on top complements its flavor and does not require icing or chocolate coating. Although for beauty, I still sprinkled it with powdered sugar.
