Ingredients

Cold water for whipping 20 ml.
Powdered sugar (optional) 1 tsp
Instant coffee 2 gr.
Ice
Ice water or milk to the edge of the glass
Milk (optional)
Tall glass

Cooking method

  • Pour some cold water into a tall glass. If desired, add powdered sugar (sugar is poorly soluble in cold water). Then, using a special mixer (shaker, cappuccinator), beat the mixture until high foam appears. When a lush foam is obtained, add ice and water or milk to taste.

What is known about frappe?
Frappe is a purely Greek invention, and in no other country has it taken root very much. And it's a pity, as we have hot days. And the frappe appeared by chance. In 1957, at the International Exhibition in Thessaloniki, the Greek representative of the Nestle company presented a new product - a chocolate drink for children, which was whipped with milk. One of the employees of the Greek office, Dimitris Vakondios, was a fan of instant coffee. One day during a break, he wanted to drink coffee, but he did not have hot water. Then he decided to try making coffee with cold, and whipped all the ingredients in a shaker. This is how the world's first frappe came about!

How to drink frappe

The frappe categories are about the same as those of Greek coffee - sketos, metrios, glycos. That is, black, medium sweet and sweet. With or without milk.
The word frappe is of French origin, meaning whipped, mixed.A French frappe is usually a cold cocktail made with milk, ice cream or fruit. Greek frappe is sometimes also served with ice cream, but this is only an addition. The Greeks changed the French word for themselves, and in Greek frappe is called ο φραπές - a masculine word, by analogy with the word "ο καφές" - coffee.
How to order frappe

Add cold water as you drink.
