Dry yeast 7 g

Poppy 60 g
Sugar 3 tbsp. l.
Walnuts (my additions) 40 g
Raisins 25 g
Melted butter 2 tbsp. l.
for lubrication - yolk + 1 tbsp. l. milk

Cooking method

  • 1. I was preparing dough in a bread maker. You can also prepare it traditionally - dilute the yeast with warm milk, sugar and a little flour. After 20 minutes, knead the flour, melted butter, protein. Leave to rise until the volume doubles.
  • 2. Boil the poppy seeds in boiling water for about 7 minutes, drain into a colander and dry. Fry the nuts, chop with a rolling pin. Mix nuts, sugar, poppy seeds. Pour boiling water over the raisins and dry.
  • 3. Divide the dough into 3 equal parts. Roll out 3 circles with a diameter of 25 cm. Put the first circle on a baking sheet, grease with oil, cover with half of the filling, in the center - a little raisins (at the edges when cutting it will interfere). Cover with a second circle, also brush with oil, apply the filling and raisins. Cover with the third circle.

  • 4. Make cuts from the edge of the circles to the center - 8 symmetrical cuts. The length of the cut is approximately one third of the diameter of the circle. Now make 8 more cuts - halfway between every two cuts. The length of these incisions is 1.5 cm shorter than the previous ones. It is convenient to make cuts with a round pizza knife or just a very sharp knife.

  • 5. Now we take the right half of the relatively smaller notch, turn it to the right, and the left half to the left. We spread the dough so that all 3 cuts are clearly visible. Place the left end of the dough under the right and slightly trim the edge of the star so that it becomes rounded. Now slightly widen the slots between the bases of the star ends. Lubricate with yolk and milk. (Proofing occurs during forming)
