SweetSveta
Dear hostesses. Help me please. I have been on this site for 2 hours, but I have not found an answer to my question. My husband and I collected a bucket of meadow strawberries yesterday. I put it to dry by analogy with strawberries, only whole. We have stood in the drying room for more than 10 hours, but I have doubts about whether I did the right thing. The sepals are already beginning to dry up and fall off, but the strawberries still can't ... Maybe this topic has already been discussed, you then throw me a link. Thank you in advance.

and I have an interesting temka, they should bring strawberries.
Admin
It is better to put strawberries on a high temperature of 55-60 * C, so that moisture from the berries is quickly removed. It will take a long time to dry, since the berries are whole.

And it is better to freeze such an expensive berry in the form of raw jam with sugar. From drying from the berries, little will remain in quantity, they will dry out greatly.

Evaluate the result, and we are interested to know what happens with the berries

Thank you, Tanya, that's what I planned to freeze. And the thought of drying strawberries came when I thought about herbal tea - I directly presented strawberry yakodki in it
SweetSveta
I wanted to dry it just for tea. And I also plan frozen with sugar. While I was waiting for an answer, it seemed like the result began to hatch. I will definitely unsubscribe later.

Well, dear hostesses, I am reporting on my first experience. Meadow strawberries. Start drying - 6 l bucket. Fits on 8 pallets.
Dried strawberries
I dried it to the last so that it was without signs of softness. I am very afraid that it does not start to deteriorate before winter comes. It looked not very appetizing (compared to strawberry chips), but the children appreciated the "little vitamins".
Exit - 2 half-liter jars.
Dried strawberries

In the morning we will add it to oatmeal porridge and herbal tea. Children just stretch their hands to chew. I was satisfied !!!

What a beauty, it’s a sight for sore eyes And I just dried it up, they promised me to bring strawberries, but they didn’t bring me, so I’m in flight
SweetSveta
Our strawberries are already leaving. Today we will go to collect the last one. The family wants to eat a little fresh (although the children ate it while my husband and I crawled in the meadow). And I still want to freeze fresh with sugar.
It’s warmer here, but you’re farther south, so they probably didn’t bring you that she’s already gone. It's okay, the berry season has just begun. You will dry other berries, fruits and vegetables.

yes, I will dry it, but I really wanted to stock up on strawberries, and freeze and dry. Well, I'll do nothing next year as soon as it starts to prepare
MomMaxa
Svetochka, how long did it take in total? And what kind of dryer do you have? Our season has not yet come, the strawberries are still in bloom, but upon arrival I want to be fully armed!

Anna, to be honest, we didn't count the time, and I turned it off when I left home for several hours. I can say not exactly, but approximately - it took about a day for 8 pallets. But we must take into account that there are only 5 pallets in our dryer. The dryer is called MYSTERY.
SweetSveta
And more .. Dried together with sepals. For herbal tea, they can be left. Well, if it is necessary without them, then after drying they crumble very well themselves. I did not change pallets during drying. If most of the berries were dry, then I removed the pallet, and transferred some of the unfinished berries to the next pallet above it.
MomMaxa
Thank you!

And I dried strawberries without tails, I didn't even know what was possible with them. When you dry it in large quantities, it is very annoying, to put it mildly, to cut off these tails.
Here is my video review on drying strawberries

Tanechka, but how much sugar to add to get unsweetened raw jam and is it necessary to add it at all?

And to crush the berries or what?

I just bought 5 large glasses of wild strawberries, but I haven't figured out what to do with them yet ...
kil
Crochet, Inna, for me, my favorite jam since childhood is strawberry, the main thing is not to digest it. Last year I dried a little for tea, added to teas, indescribable deliciousness. And I like raw jam more from raspberries. I pour strawberry jam in tiny jars of 100-150 grams and this is the best delicacy for me, especially with fresh hot bread and tea.

Drooling

It has an incredible aroma and specific taste.

By the way, now frozen strawberries are sold almost all year round in supermarkets and weekend markets.

Irishechka, and how do you make strawberry jam?

Teach me please ...

After all, each housewife has her own recipe ...

strawberry jam

Do not spoil the berry, eat it alive!) I'm serious.
It is very useful, but raw, of course. I personally do not see any reason to recycle it somehow.
And delicious jam from it is difficult to cook, it is very capricious, you just digest it and the jam is already spoiled, in the sense, there is no special taste.
And there will be no benefit in the jam.

Of course, this is my personal opinion
I am in favor of eating such useful and rare berries right away

CrochetFirst, Innochka, you will peel and peel the berries, usually I don’t wash strawberries. Then pour 1/1 sugar and let it stand overnight, or you can even more so that you let a little juice. You add 200 grams of water and bring it to a low boil on a very low heat, remove the foam and, after boiling for literally 5 minutes, turn it off and leave it to cool, I can cook for 2-3 days if there is no time. You can add half a teaspoon of citric acid for a nice color and taste (well, that's 2 liters, I usually don't cook one at a time). And you do this 3 times. The syrup should be transparent, not brown and the berries should be whole and not sour or dry. You are an experienced girl, you will see everything yourself. I also cook apricot and strawberry.
I have just ordered strawberries for myself, next week they promised to bring it this year at 450 per liter.

RepeShock, I will not eat 10 liters. You know, this is the berry for which I do not spare money.
This is how good strawberry and apricot jam should look like.

Dried strawberries

And this is raw strawberry, here sugar goes by volume, that is, a glass of berries - a glass of sugar. Rub only in glass or enamelware and only with a wooden object. Unfolds in sterile jars and stored in the refrigerator. A little sugar is poured into the jar on top.
Dried strawberries

Raspberry raw is somewhere in my recipes.
Tumanchik
oh girls, it's still good to just rub it with sugar with sugar and in the freezer in small jars, trays or in plastic bags. put, twisted and in the freezer. ice cream or cocktail, or live for bread

I also cook apricot and strawberry.

And I cook everything like that, we don't recognize any other jam.
It needs to be beautiful and tasty
kil
Tumanchik, my freezer is always full of "dog" meat. : lol: Therefore, I do not ice the berry, especially since now frozen is sold all year round. I figured it would be easier for me to buy than a freezer to buy and pay for email. energy.

Irish, honestly, I love strawberries, although without fanaticism, but strawberries ... here's its aroma, yeah), I really respect ...

kil, Irisha, thank you BIG-BIG, my golden !!!

I almost boil it too, just don't boil it at all), bring it to the "buns" and immediately turn it off, and I have been taking sugar for about a third of the mass of berries for a long time), but this is all taste, of course ...

Something pathetic? I have half-liter glasses like that ...

Probably, I will still make raw jam, and most likely I will not wash the berry either, I bought it from people tested over the years) ...

Irisha, at 450 rubles / liter you say?

I'm for a half-liter glass of 200 rubles. gave) ...

Correctly decided with raw jam, delicious!

Crochet, in our market at the weekend a half-liter glass was 300 rubles. And a friend generally bought for 400. And this is from wholesalers, those that are brought to the market, that is, on order. You have such great prices in the "village", I envy.
With a third of the mass of berries, I also did it, added jaundice, but believe a friend whose roof is coming from strawberry jam, the classic is 1/1, the taste is different ...

Crochet, Inna, order and be sure to dry at least one glass for tea. It is so beautiful dried and gives the aroma and flavor to the tea.
