Cooking method

  • I modified the recipe somewhat. The author suggests using a ciabatta or other flat bread, I used "sandwich bread" baked in a bread machine, and I lost a small 500g loaf.
  • 1. Cut the bread into slices and place in a baking dish.

  • 2. Put thin pieces of butter on the bread. The author suggests adding soft butter to the cheese mixture, but it seems to me that the butter is generally unnecessary here, since the dish is already quite fatty.

  • 3. Grate cheese (I have a large one).

  • 4. Add mayonnaise, sour cream, chopped herbs (I have parsley and dill, the author suggests green onions) and chopped garlic (I have a garlic press) to the cheese.

  • 6. Spread the mixture evenly on top of the bread.

  • 7. Bake in a preheated oven at the highest temperature for about 5 minutes. The author suggests doing this under the grill for 3-5 minutes.
