The invention of the dishwasher

It can be assumed that the dishwasher was invented by a man who spent years standing over the sink and washing mountains of dishes, mourning the wasted time. In fact, Josephine Cochrane, who received a patent for the first working dishwasher, didn't spend that much time washing dishes. The real incentive for her invention was the fact that one day, after a wonderful dinner, her workers, while cleaning the kitchen, broke an amazing Chinese porcelain service, which was very dear to her.

Cochrane was a socialite who loved to have fun, however, after her husband's death in 1883, she was left with a huge amount of debt. Instead of selling her many relics, she focused on building a machine that could wash them well without harming them. Her machine, which was based on a jet of water directed at the dishes under high pressure, allowed her to receive a patent for the device in 1886. The woman claimed that it was much easier to invent a machine than to promote it to the masses. At first, her invention failed among individual consumers, as many families did not have the water heating systems they needed to run a machine, and those who did didn’t want to pay for what women did for free.

Undeterred by this failure, she began to seek meetings with the directors of large hotels and restaurants, telling them that a dishwasher could do the work for which they paid dozens of workers. Over time, however, more and more families began to acquire their device for private use.

I wonder what kind of service had to be broken to invented disposable tableware?

Once again putting dishes in the PM, I thought to myself, thanks to the person who invented her beloved.

I guess I'm a masochist, but washing dishes has never been a burden for me)))
On the contrary, there is time to think ... about life)))
And now the fellow is still fighting for the right to wash the dishes ...
Just like about Tom Sawyer)))

And I hate washing dishes, but no matter how hard I try, I can't understand the benefits of PMM. It only takes up extra space and wastes electricity!
There are 4 of us in the family, and knowing my dislike of washing dishes, everyone washes it for himself. It takes everyone a couple of minutes. Well, the point is in this bandura car?
The youngest (she is 5 years old) loves to tinker at the sink, so all the little things remain for her. And the pots and pans are washed by the last one at the sink, these are our rules

My mother, my aunt, and my sister thought so too, but only until the moment I bought it and they saw the benefits of PMM. Now they all have a PMM and they have allocated space by throwing boxes from recently acquired kitchens.

Stafa, my brother has a dishwasher, but they used it for about a month, and now it is still a dead weight - labor costs and time for loading, refueling, unloading takes much more than washing 4 plates and 4 cups. So I looked, tried it, and came to the conclusion that this is not mine ...

Creamy, well, there is no question of a washing machine here - hands washed to blood from powder and hand washing clearly speak in favor of the machine. But with the dishes ... this is probably only for those who, well, cook a lot. And of course, to each his own. When the kitchen is 6 meters away, I'd rather put an extra cabinet for the same bread machine, food processor, blender, mixer, meat grinder, etc., than a dishwasher.

And what's not yours? What will all the bottoms shine on both pots and plates? Without constant rubbing? What do of all !!! glasses and cups will not have a dirty rim around the handle, which you can scrub off with a fig toothbrush? Look at your plates and do not be offended - they are just dirty and sticky, your loved ones will not wash the plates thoroughly after themselves, and even more so from the back side.

Shl. I almost stopped eating and drinking at a party because of the visible (now to me) dirt on plates and cups. I’ve already got used to the fact that the dishes are all crunchy from cleanliness, and I don’t notice this at home, but at a party who does not have a PMM, it immediately became clear. Therefore, I either refuse treats or my own cup or plate.

Zy2. Do you eat and drink only once a day? Same rule? don't eat at home? so as not to wash after yourself? ...
My junior used to always leave a spoonful of food in the pan - so as not to wash, since the latter. And now we have a 60cm PMM for two - and sometimes I miss it, but for the sake of truth - after the guests, this is more often.

we bought a PMM and for over a year I had it as a locker and a place where the dough fits very well. I began to use it during pregnancy - there was such a toxicosis that I could not even look at the dishes. now I can't imagine how you can live without her!)))) I am for everything that makes life easier!)))

Dilemma..
I dreamed of PMM for a long time. Cited as an excuse for the skin cracking from detergents on the hands, and constant arguments about who to wash the dishes. And so on and so on. I bought it three years ago. Before that, I shoveled the Internet up and down. I chose a full-size Bosch. Yes, the dishes "creak", yes, there are no dirty rims. About the places between the fork tips, I generally keep quiet. Previously, they could only be washed off by boiling.
But, after I ruined a couple of old silumin pans left over from my mother (no sneakers needed, they served faithfully for 30 years, and even now my hand will not rise to throw them out) and someone from the family put a ladle in it, a spatula etc. with wooden handles, I faced a problem. Unfortunately, not everything can be machine washed. And now the washing begins with the analysis of "light and dark".
Therefore, I drive the car no more than once or twice a week. And non-stick dishes, in principle, cannot be washed, even if it is written that you can. And the knives too. So that the pens still have to get wet.
I think that this is not only me. But the machine is a class!

eat as usual, 4-5 times a day but! I have only 8 plates in the dryer (shallow and deep for each) and 4 glasses, so everyone washes immediately and GOOD! That is, I do not know at all what some kind of
a rim around the handle, which you can scrub off with a fig toothbrush?
, I've never had this, and everyone is in the habit of dipping a sponge into the soda, which is always at the sink, when washing.
Yes, in general, girls, I do not impose my point of view on anyone, do not be offended
I just wrote that not everyone considers a dishwasher to be a necessary technique, despite all the dislike for washing dishes, that's all. Every family has its own habits and rules.
In general, I am FOR the technique, but not for the whole. For example, I would love to buy an electr. meat grinder, but there is simply nowhere to put it. So I go from the store straight to my mother-in-law to twist the meat, and only then go home with the minced meat)))
Creamy
Nikasa, you, in your case, really don't need a dishwasher with 8 plates. It is not economically justified for you.

Yes cool

I have 6 meters, a bunch of devices, including a meat grinder (I put it back in the box and take it out to the balcony when I don’t use it), and the PMM cabinet "eats away"!

And 8 cymbals is actually a great move.
My son first washed regularly, and then grew up and broke off, says yes, I will wash and wash once a week.
I also had no time to wash after him, so he overgrown with over-eaten dishes.
As a result, I cut down to 4 plates, like 2 for me and 2 for him, 1 tablespoon and a teaspoon each, 1 fork and 1 cup each, he certainly took mine, but not so much washing and nothing to accumulate!

It all ended with the purchase of a PMM - because I love the variety of dishes, for each dish - its own plate size is convenient, the color - according to the mood

Out of 2 plates, I have a disagreement !!!!!

I have in use "for every day" pieces of 20 cups, the same number of small plates, 12 deep, and 6 more small large ones. There are also enough spoons and forks. Therefore, I collect the dishes all day, and mine in the evening. After birthdays, I have to download 2 times, I have 45. Well, you can wash knives with handles. And I can't imagine how I did without PM. It is especially convenient that the dirty dishes are hidden in them all day and the kitchen is clean.
Stafa
I don’t wash knives, non-stick pans, multi bowl, chopping boards in PMM, but I’m not going to wash a teaspoon - I just bought a lot of them, as well as plates. I ate, put it in the PMM, wanted something else - took another plate - and again the algorithm is the same. By the evening, it accumulated - before going to bed I loaded the bread maker, in the cartoon porridge for the morning and turned on the PMM to wash the dishes. In the morning, clean dishes, hot porridge and bread.

I agree 100% with Stafa... Although I have a small desktop PMM, but it saves me water decently and my personal time. And it washes better than me. There is no dispute in the family who washes after lunch or dinner. For 4 people it may not be enough, but I load it 2 times and it's enough. I've been overjoyed for a year now.

PMM is just lovely. Saves time, saves hands. And how it washes everything. There was an ordinary white teapot, but the spout could not be washed inside (for me), the PMM did it the first time.
The cutting boards are mine too. It is simply impossible to appreciate the help after guests leave.
All relatives and friends were seduced. She invited her friend to bring and wash the crystal.
At first she twitched, and a week later the proud and happy owner of the PMM called.

I read a small topic, very interesting.
And I want to tell you that I saw the dishwasher for the first time at school, we were sent to the cafeteria to be on duty, this is about 80 years old, it was always just a fun game - a bunch of glasses comes out clean.
But I never dreamed of going home. That is, it was just fantastic for me.
Here the girls write I like to wash dishes .. I also like to wash them ... but still, when you came home from work at 19.30, you ate, and you stand washing the dishes, there's no time for the love of washing ... when you want to go faster bed ..
And now I have it! a month is coming soon! Having read the tips here, I now immediately put the dishes into the machine, the temptation is great - to wash the plate right away, but! ... I remember the rule!
and for three days I had no light, problems with electricity .. I knew all the joy of hand washing, hand cooking and hand washing!

I bought myself a PMM on February 23 and my joy has no limits.I used to always like to buy something I immediately brag to my mom and sisters on the phone. I describe my shopping experience and as a result they get the same things. But in the case of the PMM, I sit quietly and keep quiet. I myself cannot get enough of it. I have already washed everything and everything shines like never before. But the question is very controversial, it is a necessary thing in the household or a blessed woman. In general, I'm afraid they won't understand me)))

You may be right. Those who do not have such an assistant often look at the owners, to put it mildly, with misunderstanding.
I myself was in a similar situation. I have had a typewriter for six years. As soon as I bought it, I immediately boasted to one friend. She answered me skeptically: well, think about it. washing dishes does not bother me at all. And, in the fall, she complains to me: this dish got me, I also bought myself a PMM.
