Dusya Myshkina

I am the proud owner of Rumba robot cleaner.
I love. The very thought that you are doing any business, and at this time someone buzzes and cleans up is very pleasant and beneficial.
Cleaning quality is very good !!. What remains in the corners is 30 sq. cm - can be brushed off with a cloth.
A small power is sufficient to collect any debris - there is no vacuum cleaner pipe, a large suction power is not needed.
For an hour of cleaning multiple travels in different directions, the robot removes all dog and cat hair, dust. Very cool cleans linoleum in the hallway, even without wet cleaning. Removes sand, dirt.
You go for a walk outside, and at this time the floors become clean, isn't that a joy ?!
Well looking for a base to recharge after cleaning.
In general, for busy people - what you need.
But there are also disadvantages. It is convenient to shake out the garbage from the container, but it is not very convenient to clean the brushes, the roller on which the brushes are worn. And this must be done regularly enough, otherwise the robot will damage its mechanism - it will saw through with wound threads or hair.
In general, he works for me every day. In the presence of cats and dogs in the house and a man who loves technology, who will regularly disassemble for routine maintenance - a thing !!
Demiga
Yesterday they brought a robot vacuum cleaner. I have an IRobot-Roomba 560. It only vacuums. No words, just dear mom! Today set at 7 am and he has already vacuumed the whole room! Very clean. Much better than the son vacuuming ... Of the shortcomings. Brush cleaning and debris disposal. Dirty. I got used to disposable bags. There is a lot of cat's hair and you have to clean the brushes. But compared to the amenities, these are all small things! While I was sleeping and getting my family to work, one room was already clean!
dopleta
I've also been using Roomb for a long time and I'm incredibly happy! Especially important if there are 2 tailed beasts in the house. However, I already wrote about this in the topic about vacuum cleaners.
mish
dopleta, share how long and where did you buy? Do they have service centers in St. Petersburg, if that? As I saw this miracle - "the breath stole from joy in the goiter"! Want ! I have no animals at home, but three children are jumping and you can't force them to clean up again. It is a pity that this machine does not wipe dust! Well, I can handle the dust myself, but it's already hard to bend over on my back, and I just need such an assistant!
And in general, thanks to everyone, everyone, everyone for creating useful topics and sharing very different information, otherwise where else would I find out about so many different units, which, thanks to this forum, over the past year I have more than in my entire past life !
dopleta, found your link to the store in Temka about vacuum cleaners! Thank you!

And which one is for animals, otherwise my tongue is bad?

For animals, this is the one that ForPets. But in fact, they are no different except for the brushes. So you can buy any you like and buy a set of brushes (ForPets). Well, one more difference is that an additional garbage collector is included in the kit, only it does not have a suction pump, and the robot vacuum cleaner with it turns into a robot broom.

In general, be careful about the choice because the range of prices is very large, but in fact it turns out the same thing.

For example 550, 560, 562, 570, 580, 610 models are absolutely the same difference only in configuration and color. But the prices are very different.
for example 560 will cost about 20000tr, and 570 25000, is there a difference right?

But in reality they differ only in the presence of the remote control in the 570.Which, as a last resort, can be bought separately for about 2500 (I very much doubt the usefulness of this device).

As a person connected a little with these devices, I can recommend exactly 560, since this is the most optimal option.

Well, I will indulge myself in giving a link to 🔗
Ldeath
QQ-02 and even more so QQ-1 are really very bad.
The main disadvantages are brushes and navigation.
All iRobot robotic vacuum cleaners have not one brush like the QQ, but two and they are anti-rotating (this greatly increases efficiency).

QQ has no navigation at all. They have five hardwired programs, which they work out in turn (ladder, spiral, octagon, etc.).
Roomba is different and more complex.

Well, the difference between Roomba 4xx (Red) and Roomba 5xx is also:

  • improved navigation system
  • added LightHouse technology
  • anti-entanglement system
  • improved dust protection
  • reduced noise level
  • the structure was made modular
  • Well, and much more.

Rita
Ldeath,
I have been looking closely at Rumba and Scuba for a long time, but I am tormented by some doubts. Since you have so kindly agreed to answer the questions of those in need, I will gladly take this opportunity.
So .

1. How many charge-discharge cycles does the battery carry? How often should it be changed?

2. Approximately after how many hours of work do you need to change the so-called consumables?

Thank you!
Ldeath
Batteries are different.
There are metal hydride (old) and lithium
So with proper operation (according to the instructions) with daily use, the battery will work for about a year and a half.
The most important thing for batteries: do not leave a battery in the robot if the robot is not connected to a charger at that time. (meaning for a long time, for example, we went on vacation). It must be pulled out. And if possible, keep the robot at the base at all times. Everything is very well done in terms of fire safety and you should not be afraid to leave it on when you are not at home. And the energy consumption of the robot standing on the base is minimal.
If anyone is interested in how this is technically implemented in detail, then it is better to ask on our Robopark forum. It makes no sense, I think to give schematic diagrams
Consumables are also a little different from those of a conventional vacuum cleaner.
Firstly, there is no garbage bag, but just a container from which it is simply shaken out.

The filter will last six months for sure, you can wash it and, if you wish, make it yourself.

The main brushes will last at least a year (it all depends on the intensity of use of the robot)

Well, the side brush "helicopter" is different.
Previously, it was made of red plastic, which began to crumble after a while.
Now they changed this red plastic for white (after public complaints) and started these "helicopters to last longer. With constant use of the robot, the side brush will last for six months.
Rita
Ldeath
Thank you very much for your reply!
Tell me, did I understand you correctly that when buying Rumba or Scuba, you can also choose a battery? Or do certain models have their own? Like, lithium lasts longer, and less dependent on charge-discharge cycles?
Ldeath
Nobody will give to choose the battery. After all, they are completed there in America. And in the fifth Roomba series, they are closed and sealed, for example, we do not open them.
But when buying, you can try to clarify which battery is in this particular robot.

There are three types:
NiMH - more capacity, faster charging
NiCD - More Cycles
Li-ion - the largest capacity, and the number of cycles

But there is one thing, iRobot does not complete its robots with Li-ion batteries, only NiMH and NiCD. All lithium batteries are made by third parties.

Something like this

Ldeath
Thank you again!
Could you describe, in the same way as you painted for Scuba, the operating time and the number of square meters per charge, but only for Rumba.

No, for Roomba, I cannot paint that.
Not because I don't want to or don't know, but because, for Roomba, this is not applicable.
Roomba has a slightly different principle.

Roomba will clean whatever room you give it.

How Roomba works:

Turn on, Roomba detects where its base station is and begins to walk around the room around the perimeter. Based on the perimeter, she calculates the area of the room, but knowing the area, she can already calculate the time she needs to clean the entire room.
And it starts cleaning if the battery runs out during the cleaning process, and the estimated time has not ended, then Roomba goes back to the base and charges and then continues cleaning. Further, if you have several rooms, it goes beyond the virtual walls and, according to the same principle, cleans the next room, and so on until it cleans the entire apartment. Roomba is oriented in the room both by the base and by the virtual walls.

True, orientation along the virtual walls was added after the introduction of the Light House technology, this technology appeared from the Roomba 535 model.

The previous walls were impassable for her. They just blocked her passage further.

Well, this is roughly how the Roomba works, in fact, everything is a little more complex and smarter.

A question for the owners of Rumba: how does it cope with corners? Does furniture scratch? It is clear about the advantages, but which disadvantages have been identified. What to look for when choosing a model?
dopleta
No, what are you! Scratches nothing! The corners "sniff" and delicately go around, sweeping debris out of the cracks with a special brush. He sees steps and height differences in advance and, approaching them, turns away from sin. Disadvantages? I don’t know, I didn’t find it. Well, if you have a lot of wires on the floor and you forgot to put a virtual wall, then it can chew ... But this is not a drawback, but our inattention. Let the specialist tell about the shortcomings, I'm also interested, I haven't found them in two years.
Ldeath
Of course, she will not be able to get into the very corner, but the main garbage all the same appears in the middle of the room and then gradually moves to the corners. Accordingly, if Rumba is systematically cleaning the room, then there will be practically no debris in the corners.

About the scratching.
In the fourth series, the obstacle sensor is just a front bumper with which it knocks on an obstacle, not enough to crush furniture, but still.

But the fifth series also has infrared sensors and with their help Roomba sees an obstacle in advance and slows down and touches it lightly.

There is a way out, the manufacturer has special adhesive strips for the bumper, which can be successfully replaced by an ordinary self-adhesive rubber seal.

But this is if you have furniture of the 16-17 century.
When choosing a model, one should proceed from the amount of money. As I already said

Almost all of the fifth series are the same and the only difference is in color and equipment.
dopleta
But this bumper has such soft shock absorption that I would not call it "knocking" - it only rests with a "forehead" (do you feel how I love him?)
Ldeath
And what is your specific model, if not a secret :).

By the way, it was noticed (especially in America, since they appeared there earlier) that practically all Roomba owners give them names and treat them more like pets than like household appliances.

I think there are few people who will give a name to an ordinary vacuum cleaner
dopleta
Mine is from there. First, I bought Red in St. Petersburg, and almost at the same time they brought me this one as a gift, as a result I left it (a gift after all), and gave Red to my friend - and she is immensely happy! But I did not come across people like mine in St. Petersburg.

Rumba - robot vacuum cleaner for dry cleaning
Ldeath
This iRobot 4160 Roomba Silver is the most advanced model of the fourth series
With a rich package and SPOT and MAX modes.
If it seems to you that he "rests" with his forehead ", then you need to see how the Roomba of the fifth series moves.
kolynusha
Thanks for answers. And it sucks dust into disposable bags, and how often should it be cleaned?
dopleta
There are no bags, but there is a garbage container and a filter, and they must, of course, be cleaned after each cleaning.
Ldeath
It simply spills out of the garbage container.
And the filter can be simply shaken off, you can even rinse it with water if it is very dirty, just do not insert it when wet, otherwise all the dust will stick to it and dry out.
Galateya508
Thank you.

Can 560 rumba cope with dog hair? Or just 532?
Ldeath
Roomba 532,530 and 560,562 are practically the same, the difference is only in color and equipment.
So the models 562 and 532 (which are forPets) are equipped with additional special brushes that are more rigid and an additional container for garbage in which there is no suction pump. With this container, the vacuum cleaner works like a broom, it just sweeps away the wool.
And the manufacturers also call this container more capacious (well, because there is no pump in it and the space is accordingly freed up.

But there is one caveat, in 532 and 530 there is no lighthouse technology (I wrote about it above).

If you buy 560 then no one will stop you from just buying forPets set of brushes. They fit perfectly with all 5 series models.
Galateya508
all clear. Thank you very much.
only if I buy extra. brushes, what about the container?
Gin
Stumbled upon this topic. Saliva from the mouth pours all day long I want it! I climbed into - they have a huge branch there on the same topic. It seems that everyone almost immediately breaks something ... I really don't even know. Animals, these Rumbas, are not cheap. And if also ...
Or is it just that someone who's doing well doesn't ask questions?

This container is not required at all. And hard brushes are not necessary either.
They just pick wool a little better.

I am aware of that branch and write there myself sometimes.
But YOU pay attention to the names of people who write them there is nothing at all.
Now count how many people there actually addressed the problem.
Some people from that forum, after independent attempts to do something, then turned to us.

A lot is written there about adapting power supplies for 220v.
And after independent alterations, people also began to have problems.
And all because Roomba and Scooba have very cleverly done everything and clear control of currents and voltages (especially Scooba) and when people redo it without understanding what they are doing, problems begin.

And you also need to read the instructions, which will also save you some trouble.
You correctly noted that when there are no problems, then no one will write there.
And you try to ask the owners there, even those who broke something if they are satisfied with their "animals".
Andre_RF
Gin,

As an experienced owner of Roomba 560 (more than 9 months already), I can say that this technique is very reliable, during all this time, despite the fact that the vacuum cleaner works after one day, there were no breakdowns or problems. The only thing is the planned replacement of consumables, which I carried out after 6 months of robot operation. The main thing is to buy in a proven and serious online store that provides warranty and post-warranty service and there will be no problems at all, I can recommend the "Goods from the Future" online store ( 🔗), he took it himself and was satisfied.

Gin, I see you are from St. Petersburg. If you decide to buy directly in the store, and not over the Internet, then I can tell where I bought my rumba - there is also a qualified and professional staff.
dopleta
Nastasya, you know the shopping center "Snow Queen" near the Moscow Gate? There is a Robotronics store on the third floor. There. If you need to be more precise, look here:

Nastasya
Ldeath, but there is very little information about the iRobot 4160 Roomba Silver model. I understand that this is for sale only in America. And how is 5 series different?
Pakat

volvox
To the rumba, I changed the filter after six months, it broke, repaired it, the vacuum pump flew, the same with the scuba - the vacuum pump flew.
Rita
I have the simplest i-robot sweeper without a base and virtual walls, which, by the way, are missing. It cost me 249 euros. But a much better one can be bought on e-wow at a price of $ 239, plus about $ 200 for transportation and customs clearance. The difference in price with mine is small, but the one that is more sophisticated on e-wow. So that it is worth the money.
What are the disadvantages? ... For me, he has solid advantages. Maybe someone else will find flaws, but I have not yet. It works quieter than a conventional vacuum cleaner, because it has a different principle of operation - it first sweeps the dust with brushes, and then sucks it from the brushes, so it does not need much power, like a regular vacuum cleaner, which removes dust only by suction power. Thanks to this, the robot does not smell of dust during operation, as during the operation of a conventional vacuum cleaner, and the dust does not rise high. This is important to me because I am allergic to dust mites.
Of the shortcomings ... You still need to look after him - he can get tangled in the cords if they are not removed, or get stuck under the furniture - I have one chest of drawers, under which he drives in one place, comes forward, and can no longer leave , because further the chest of drawers is for some reason lower. But if you have virtual walls, you can close these places in advance, and then the robot will not climb there. And you will remove dust from these places later by doing wet cleaning.
Nadeyka
By the way, Rumbas in America cost 2 times cheaper - a package with Rumba weighs 6 kg - you can order - maybe someone from your friends will go or do this: buy it there and send it by mail so as not to carry around with unnecessary weight.
Hairpin
But if something happens, you can return it here, otherwise ... it's cheaper, it's cheaper ... It is necessary to look in Nikkerman. Maybe there is.

Just first you need to make sure whether it fits our voltage.
Pakat
No need to make sure that America has a different voltage and frequency -
120 volts, 60 hertz, other sockets and plugs.
I have more than once given a link to sites with tension, but repetition is the mother of learning ... 🔗

In our stores that sell consumables for electronics, special devices are sold that transform our voltage into American. A friend of mine ordered a vacuum cleaner from America and bought this device. And now everything works great for her.

My salary for September was closed !!!
I sit and choose Rumba for myself.

505 - 12400 rubles without programming
530 - 17000 rubles without programming
560 - 22000 with programming
562 - 23300 with programming for pet owners. I have a cat
581 - 27200 ... well, I hardly need this one.

Lyuyuyuyuyu !!! Do I need programming? !!!

Well, I called there. I don't seem to need programmable. Programming gives a start at a specific time and the creation of virtual walls. And I have a Khrushchev ... One beacon for creating virtual walls is included there, and more ... the door closed and that's it ... And the launch at a certain time ... Well, I can start it when I leave the apartment ...
Well, in short, I am maturing for the 530 model.
dopleta
Hairpin, I wrote about programmable and ordinary ones - if, say, you leave for a long time and want the apartment to clean itself without you (and without a housekeeper), then buy a programmable one. I don’t need it (just as I don’t need a base), so I have both Rumba and Scuba without a program and without a base.
Quote:

And the battery really dies if not charged. I had a long history with the repair of the scuba, in the end I repaired the warranty at my own expense and it took me the whole summer to do this. Nobody charged the battery, now it lasts 15 minutes. We have to go for a new one.
And for some reason I was lucky! Rumba is three years old, every summer of three or four months I leave - pah-pah-pah - the battery plows and plows!
Hairpin
I ordered 530 + a set of spare brushes and filters. Will be brought in on Monday.

Dopplet, you completely reassured me. Even if you didn't take programmable ...
kolynusha
dopleta, and your Rumba cleans all the rooms in a row, without stopping? Or should it be run separately in each room?
Gin
Hairpin, I saw the topic late (I have been late for something lately everywhere)
My husband gave a Roomba 532 for his birthday - this is a Pet series. included (so I remember exactly) - two virtual walls (each powered by two D batteries, they are not included in the kit). The spare container is large (it contains one container, without a small compartment for fine dust - with such a container, Rumba simply works like an electric broom, does not suck in). Also included are spare brushes for wool - a little harder. Spare helicopter foot. Pribludy for cleaning brushes. Charger, base. There was something else. I do not remember. As I understood, older models (560 for example) and programmable ones are more suitable for apartments larger than our one-bedroom apartment. Well, their price is higher.
For some reason I haven't cleaned the whole apartment yet (I don't know why). I run either a room + an entrance hall or a kitchen + an entrance hall or separately (depending on the garbage). What can I say - we have never been so clean. If the cleaning takes place in the room with the base, then at the end Rumba clicks that everything is ready and goes to the base. If the cleaning is over where there is no base and cannot get to it (I put virtual walls), then it simply informs that the process is completed and Rumba can be taken to the base.
I call the robot Rumbanoid and I love to watch him. This is, probably, as in the first place at the washing machine - who has not sat in front of it and watched how it works the entire cycle?
Hairpin
Gin!
There were no 532 models in that store, but in another it would have cost me a thousand more ... So let it be 530 !!!
kolynusha
Gin, Can your Rumba clean all the rooms in a row if you don't put virtual walls?
Gin
kolynusha, yes, if you don't put the walls, then for Rumba the apartment is one space (what's the difference - crawl between the legs of the chair or into the doorway)
Hairpin
Gin, I have two questions too:
1. When he has cleared all the space, does he stop / squeak himself or start in the second circle?
2. And if during the cleaning process his garbage container is full, then what?
Gin
Hairpin, does not walk in the second circle. Finish cleaning. Will stop. Melodies that everything is ready. If the base is available, it goes to the base. If the base is behind a virtual wall or behind a door (on the first evening we simply closed the door to the room, since there were no batteries for the virtual walls), then after the melody about the end, it will remain in place.
According to the instructions, it is recommended to clean the container every 3-5 cleanings. During my work, the container has not yet filled up, I don’t know how Rumba will behave in this case. But during work my brushes became clogged. I took out an old carpet, which we littered during the move and had not yet cleaned the carpet in the room so that it was bounded on both sides by furniture or a wall, and on the other two sides I put virtual walls (the minimum beam power is enough for several meters exactly) - so that Rumba only cleans the carpet. In the process of cleaning the carpet, I brushed him three times. A lot of hair, wool, dust. Especially the hair .. I guessed that the brushes needed to be urgently cleaned because the robot didn’t just start to limp, but it was somehow strange to ride. I looked - and there !! ... In general, a wig could be made. But nothing, I did it I will not say that the carpet is as good as new, because nothing will help it.But I would not have achieved such results with my hands and an ordinary vacuum cleaner
By the way, I also remembered the container - the sellers told us not to forget to clean the container. Since most cases of contacting warranty services were associated with the fact that the owners simply forgot to shake out the container. After emptying the container, everything worked fine for them again.

Roomba 530

The only difference between Roomba 530 and more expensive models is the lack of a programming mode. You just need to press the "Start" button on the robot and Roomba 530 independently cleans up to 80 square meters without recharging.
• Self-recharging on the charging base
• Zoning of the cleaning area
• Control by remote control

My Rumba and Scuba cope with 110 meters without recharging - calmly. Have Gin Roomba with a base, I have both vacuums without it, I didn't want to take up extra space against the wall. Recharged from the charger - and off you go!
