Bavarian shanks

Ingredients

pork knuckles 2 pcs.
light beer 1 can
garlic 1/2 head
ground thyme 1 tsp
dried marjoram 1 tsp
salt pepper taste
Bay leaf 2 pcs.
wine or balsamic vinegar 2 tbsp. spoons
olive oil 2 tbsp. spoons

Cooking method

  • Cut the garlic into wedges and stuff the shanks with it. Salt and pepper the shanks. Finely break the bay leaf, mix with thyme, marjoram, vinegar and oil. Lubricate the shanks with this mixture, leaving to marinate for 15 - 20 minutes. Fry (seal) the shanks in a dry frying pan until golden brown. I put in foil, added beer and onions, and closed tightly before transferring to a baking dish. Put in the oven at 230 degrees. After an hour, open the foil and bake for another half hour.
