Everyone understands that in order for facial care products to be better stored, optimal conditions must be created for them. On average, cosmetics can be stored from the date of release for about two years. But the actual date of manufacture is not always indicated on the label. According to the standards of European countries, if the shelf life of products is more than thirty months, then the shelf life can be omitted. According to Russian laws, the service life of products must be indicated in any case.
This means that it makes no sense to stock up on cosmetics for future use. When buying cosmetics, give preference to small packages, do not expose yourself to risk - try to meet the deadline less than indicated on the package. If the date of manufacture is not indicated on the box, then refuse to purchase.
The shelf life of cosmetics depends on their composition: water-based cosmetics are stored for less than one year; alcohol prolongs the "life" of cosmetics; natural ingredients such as oils or various extracts, on the contrary, shorten the shelf life (in addition, they must be kept in a dark and cool place).
If the storage conditions are violated (short-term insignificant temperature drop), the cosmetic product can cause unpleasant consequences: allergies, irritation, and so on.
Don't keep your cosmetics in the refrigerator. Most drugs deteriorate from prolonged exposure to low temperatures. The bathroom is also not a place to store cosmetics: humid and warm air creates excellent conditions for the growth of bacteria (this does not apply to soaps, various shower gels).
Here are some tips for storing cosmetics:
1) From the jar, the cream must be taken with a special spatula or stick. However, only cosmetologists adhere to this rule. Let your hands be at least clean.
2) Clean the tube lid and dispenser opening from residues collecting there.
3) Do not mix different creams, as this can provoke allergies. In general, the result can be unpredictable.
4) Always close the lid tightly to prevent dirt and dust from entering.
5) It is recommended to rinse the makeup brush, tone sponge, mascara brush regularly, this will protect against the development of bacteria.
6) Mascara for dyeing eyelashes must be changed once every 3 months, you cannot add water to it.
Since the cleaning agents contain substances that prevent the appearance of bacteria, they retain their properties longer. A sign of spoilage will be an unpleasant odor, flakes appearing instead of foam.
Make-up cleansers need to be changed more often than other cosmetics. If such a product develops an unpleasant odor, it should be discarded immediately.
If the cream, lotion or mask have changed color, crumbs have appeared, the water and oil phases have separated, then the product has expired.
Perfumes are stored for a long time, because they contain alcohol. However, if your perfume has an unpleasant smell, then you need to get rid of it. Perfumery should be protected from heat, high humidity, and bright sunlight, then they will retain their aroma for a long time.
