Dozza - open-air gallery
At the top of the hill between Bologna and Imola is Dozza, a beautiful village of classic medieval style with steep lanes. The entire village is an open-air gallery with about 100 artworks on display throughout the area. Murals adorn the walls, doors and arches of buildings, showcasing the different artistic styles of its authors. Tours are pre-booked, but they are always open and available to everyone. Every two years, outstanding artists from all over the world are invited to add to the collection. The enoteca contains more than 800 collection wines from Emilia-Romagna, which are located in the beautiful arched cellar of the fortress.
 Ravenna - the pearl of the Roman Empire
Ravenna is located on the east coast of Emilia Romagna, about an hour's drive from Bologna Airport. It is home to eight UNESCO World Heritage Sites, thanks to the fact that the city was the last capital of the Western Roman Empire. In VI, many buildings were built in honor of King Theodoric the Great. However, the orthodox church recognized the king as a heretic after his death. For this reason, in the Basilica of Sant'Apollinare Nuovo in the palace church, the monks smashed into small pieces all the mosaic portraits depicting the king. One of the most impressive restaurants is Ca 'de Ven, located in a 15th century palace, where piadina, a traditional Romagna flatbread, is prepared right at your table.
Destra Po Cycling Route
The Destra Po cycle path runs along the famous river that flows through Emilia Romagna. From the beautiful medieval town of Ferrara, you can easily reach its shores. From there, you can head down towards the village of Ro. The famous river mill is a great picnic spot. Don't forget to bring local meat and cheese with you on the road. The flat landscape of the area allows you to enjoy a beautiful view of the river and the surrounding plains. Bicycles are relatively inexpensive to rent in Ferrara.
 Bologna Shopping Walk

Arched galleries of Bologna
Bologna has 38 km of covered arched galleries. You can walk under the shade by visiting the many beautiful churches. The Church of Santo Stefano is very impressive. This complex of Christian buildings is located on one square called "Seven Churches". It is always cool and calm here. Particularly fascinating is the small church of Santa Maria della Vita, which houses seven beautiful terracotta figures created by the sculptor Niccolò del Arca during the Renaissance. The composition is called "Lamentation over the Crucified Christ."
Picture yourself king and queen for a day
Located on a hill, the magnificent Hotel Castello di Compiano is a restored medieval castle. We stayed in a stunning room with a mezzanine and ceiling dating from 1600. The owner, Francesco, treats guests warmly and friendly like royalty. The restaurant's menu consists of delicacies prepared by the locals. Each dish is unique. The hotel houses three museums that tell the history of the castle and the views are breathtaking. For £ 130, we spent the weekend like a fairy tale.
