interesting discussion on meat grinders. The Axion meat grinders are especially popular. Panasonic 1800 is beyond competition. Here are some quotes about power.

If you look at the axions, I somehow don't understand the range of prices and capacities. then 160 watts (what is this for?), then 1300, this is already a whole chainsaw.
160 W is the real long-term power of the motor, and 1600 W is the peak power when the motor is jammed and burned out in a few tens of milliseconds.
Such is the marketing tool for the little ones. Little kids love big numbers.
For a good modern M, real 240 watts are enough for test tests (even at the beginning of the topic, we read).

On yandex. market "It is recommended to purchase models with a rated power of at least 500 W"
These internet advisors are specialists like me - the pope. The rated power is the maximum power at which the device can operate for the time specified in the operating instructions (or work constantly). Some manufacturers of meat grinders indicate the power of the motor when operating without load (idle), this figure varies in the region of 200 W for all brands of household meat grinders. As a result, the most honest producers appear in an unfavorable light for the average consumer who needs not so much high-quality meat processing as "there were two kilowatts of Schaub!"

According to the published tests at the beginning of the topic, the power consumption of good household meat grinders is 250-280W under LOAD when grinding meat. And 120-220W for the bad ones.
1500W and more is supposedly the calculated power on the gearbox when the engine is jammed - a spherical horse in vacuum. 800W in a household meat grinder does not exist! This is yet another torretic maximum takeoff power.

It looks like I was fooled and I won't get a meat grinder today. They were supposed to deliver from 10 to 18, already 19, but there was not even a call from the delivery man. I called the store, today they already have it on their website, which is out of stock. We were assured by phone that they should bring it today. All in disheveled senses the meat is waiting on the loggia, at least the temperature is below zero.

Galya, maybe it's over for the rest of the people, but yours is still going.

It was on ixbt that I saw this photo, so the question arose about the grilles. The knife was immediately offered to take for 300r, and according to your link for 300r completely from other meat grinders. Thank you for the link to the spare parts, otherwise it would have burst with a knife.

So I ordered it from us in St. Petersburg, but in Volgograd there may be another situation. I ordered it from Citylink.
Wait I was swornly assured that in 20 minutes the driver would bring me. Waiting ... Children (over-age) want cutlets, they have already tortured me with questions ...

Uraaa !!! They brought it to me !!!
I was already polishing the gratings - it turned out to be not an easy task ...I soaked it with peasants and mustard, and with a toothbrush and a cotton swab ... even turn on the steam generator. Already warmed up after the frost, I’ll go with potatoes, onions, bread to remove the grease residues. Hands still smell like grease, it was necessary to wash with gloves.
Lattices from old meat grinders will not roll in thickness and diameter.

I'm with a report! The machine is a beast, it thrashed everything playfully, without straining. And veins - films, and pieces of frozen. Sings loudly, but bearable. I'm glad! True, now you need to figure out where to put it for work. The previous one was much lower, but with this assembled I am too tall on my tabletop. You will need to settle down on the dining table, come up with something with an outlet.

Now I wonder why the Japanese use the smallest lattice? for which such dishes? There the hole is less than 2mm. This grate is the hardest to rinse because of the grease, and then, when for the final cleaning of the grease I passed any mixture, I had to pick all the holes with a toothpick, and there are a lot of them there. It’s good that I don’t need such a trifle in my life yet, otherwise you will butt with this lattice.

Galya, congratulations on your purchase of an assistant!
Mine is still standing idle and not washed. So at least I respect others. We need to arm ourselves with gloves and patience.

Best value for money, completely made of metal. Sometimes silent. The meat grinder is a bestseller!

Choosing an electric meat grinder

Useful information about the meat grinder (page 124 ixbt). I read the topic as a fascinating read.

A few words about meat grinders from the person involved in their production.
I work at Axion, I immediately apologize to those who take this for advertising, but I try to be objective.
So:
What capacities are given by manufacturers and sellers.
Maximum power, it is also power with a locked shaft. Forget it right away - a breeze for suckers. Trade-related. The power is consumed - the electric meter is spinning, and the meat grinder only stands and heats up, no useful work is done. Indirectly speaks of a power reserve, but does not guarantee anything. Analogue fuel consumption in a car: of course, the more powerful the engine, the better, but the consumption is higher, and if it just eats a lot of gasoline, then what good is it? Maybe the car is not working at all? In addition, many models have mechanical or electrical fuses and it is simply impossible to block the meat grinder screw. In addition, all manufacturers are lying to a greater or lesser extent.
Rated power - power consumption during normal operation. Closer to the point. If we assume that the principle of operation of all meat grinders is about the same, more power should correspond to greater productivity, but not a fact. Much depends on the quality of the grate, the knife, the success of the auger and the auger chamber, the gearbox. The manufacturer may indicate the nominal power of the electric motor or the nominal power of the grinder, they are not the same thing.
Rated power of the electric motor - the power consumption of the electric motor at a load corresponding to the maximum efficiency (approximately 50%) or at a load corresponding to the maximum shaft power (maximum net power), while the power consumption of the same motor will be slightly higher. In general, the power consumption of the engine depends on how to load it and changes from the minimum at idle (the meat grinder does not produce anything but noise), to the maximum when the shaft is loaded so that it can no longer spin (net power is zero again).
The rated power of the grinder is the power consumption of the grinder during normal operation. When processing meat, usually from 160W to 250W is consumed by any meat grinder, regardless of the declared kW of maximum power (professional does not count). But less than 200W is still not enough - an economical option. The meat will spin, but you need to cut it into small pieces, especially sinewy. The rated power of the meat grinder can approximately correspond to the rated power of the electric motor, or the electric motor is installed with a power reserve, then it works with underload. The power reserve can come in handy when pushing a large piece, sinewy meat, or even hell knows what (a plant is).
Productivity - the rate at which the meat is processed or whatever is indicated. This is a specific indicator. With a high productivity, even if you don't eat so much, there is a hope that, albeit slower, the meat grinder will cope with any meat and other product.
Reverse. Really not very much needed. At home I have an "Axion" M31, there was never a need to unwind the wires in this way. I use the reverse to clean the auger chamber at the end of work - there are practically no meat residues.
Circuit breakers. There are electrical and mechanical.
Electric fuses mainly protect the electric motor from overheating, a banal fuse is on the engine: heated up - turned off, cooled down - turned on. There is a variety with electronics - a more expensive thing. Reacts to an increase in current: the load on the shaft has increased, the engine speed has dropped, the current has increased, the protection has worked, the engine has turned off. It poorly protects the gears, especially with a sharp increase in load, impacts (the bone hit) - first the load increased, then the engine turned off, there is still inertia, and the gears have already "grunted".
Mechanical fuse. "Plastmask" on the screw. In which case it breaks down first and protects the rest of the parts from overload, is easily replaced. Whether you need it or not, decide for yourself. A metal gear without "plastmask" will not let you down, and the engine, if the shaft is jammed, will not immediately burn out, you will have time to turn it off. But steel gears are very rare nowadays, break the gearbox, do not fix it in a minute.
What is needed so that the meat is chopped and not crumpled and the veins are not wound around the auger? You need a good knife, a grate, the correct design of the auger and auger chamber, but high power will not help much here. If the knife is dull and the meat crumples, the meat is badly pushed and gets stuck, and the veins are not wound around the auger, then the veins will not unwind even at high power, they simply will not reach the knife, and will spin on the auger.
For a knife, a sharp edge and a snug fit to the grid are important, and a smooth, sanded surface or rough is no longer so important. The same goes for the grill.

Girls - Song and Ipatiya, thanks for the congratulations!

Yeah, and also a good brush. The auger chamber is quite long, you cannot reach the bottom with your fingers, and, accordingly, cannot be washed. The pipe (along which we push the meat inside) is also long and narrow. So there will be a good brush in the topic. I found an old one, it's time to update.
I really liked the ring with which we twist the lattice. Powerful, with large lugs - there is something to grasp when unwinding. And if there is not enough strength in the hands, then the rule of the lever can be applied - and for this there are special hooks on the ring.
The grates are not made of stainless steel, they darken quickly, you need to wipe them right away.
The guides in the auger chamber are twisted in a spiral (this design is unusual for me), there were almost no residues. Only one small vein wound around the auger.
I still need to adapt where to hide it now. It used to be small, I took it off the mezzanine shelf with one hand, but if you take off this fig, it's heavy, you'll have to jump onto a chair. Well, I’ll find a place in my place, and whoever has problems with this business, then think carefully about which meat grinder to buy. I understand now TaTu why she took it to the store.

Yesterday, while I was looking for Panasonic-1800 on the Internet, I was offered a spare knife. What do you think? badly needed?
Galina, I don't think it is needed, if you don't grind the bones at all.
Panasonic's knife is self-sharpening. If in simple knives this is some slyness, then here it is somewhat different. Look at the shape of the knife - it is somewhat "crooked" and with some chipping of the surface, the shape is not lost, and the knife is made of stainless steel. And the grill is made of rusting metal, which plays the role of a "sharpener". Therefore, when rotating, the knife, in addition to cutting the product, grinds against the grate.
The second knife is needed more in reserve, if well, well, large volumes of processing and it is sold separately in I-service stores. And look when buying a spare knife - do not run into the "analog" of the knife. Outwardly, it will look like its own, only the quality is not right. Some stores indicate different prices for original and analogue ones. The difference in price is about 2 times. The original knife cannot cost 300 rubles. I don't remember exactly, but at least 600 ...

lega- Galina, but it was impossible to wash everything in the PMM?
Congratulations on your new assistant! Let it serve long and faithfully!
lega
gala10, thanks for the compliments!
I didn't dare to shove everything into the PMM. What kind of metal is there? Stainless steel knife, yes. But the grilles darken during manual washing, and in PMM what will happen to them? The body of the meat grinder itself seems to be made of aluminum, so again past the PMM.
Taia
Girls, the instructions for my Panasonic meat grinder say: do not wash in the dishwasher.

lega, You cannot wash in PMM! High quality hardened carbon steel grille, virtually unchanged. Knife made of stainless, softer steel, can be replaced if desired.

On occasion I will buy a spare knife and a large grate. Just in case, let them be, otherwise the manufacturer will change the modification and you will have to buy a new meat grinder, now everything is changing so quickly.

I got together with the spirit to clean the meat grinder from grease. But since we are the smartest and I want to make it easier for ourselves, I thought, why not use a solvent (acetone, gasoline, etc.)? Moreover, I read about a similar experience in reviews on the Yandex market. But since the instructions are not just written, I decided to read it first. And here's a quote.

Solvent or gasoline will cause cracks or discoloration of the appliance.

Suddenly, who will come in handy that in addition to the prohibition on washing in the dishwasher, you cannot treat with solvents such as gasoline, acetone, white spirit, etc.

I chose a meat grinder for a very long time, for some reason I chose this one, although there were almost no reviews about it, I bribed a video that is walking on the Internet, where they not just talk about it, but skip the meat.
She, of course, noisy, but chops meat like an animal. The declared capacity is 3000 V.

Hello everyone!!! : girl_curtsey: Take a new one into your ranks! : girl-yes: I've been on your site for a long time, I've read a bunch of topics and learned a lot of new and interesting things. Great site!!! Girls and boys, I bought a bunch of different equipment, I use everything, everything makes me happy, but ... the other day an electric meat grinder came up and the question unwittingly emerged - "which meat grinder to buy?" And not just a meat grinder, but so that there were still more attachments ...: oops: After reading your Temka about the choice of a meat grinder, the choice fell on Zelmer, but .... I got confused in two models and I don't understand which is better - Zelmer 986.80 or 987.80. I want a complete set, so that in addition to minced meat and sausages, I also make tomato juice, and most importantly, to cut Korean carrots (for her at the moment I have only a hand grater). Help me decide, pliiiz, which is better, so as not to buy any additional items later. graters and nozzles !!!

Yes, Zelmer is a good meat grinder, but I don’t make a tomato in it, because it does it very, very badly. - 1-2 kg for a tomato - you can, but for a harvest - no !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ... If you look at the tomato nozzle with your own eyes, you can see that the size of the "window" through which the tomato juice should be squeezed out is very small, and it clogs up very quickly. There is no Korean carrot grater in Zelmera. And in the ostolny - a SUPER meat grinder !!!!!!!!!!!!
