Ingredients

Flour 200 g
Sugar 75 g
Vanilla sugar 1 sachet (8 g)
Softened butter or margarine 100 g
Salt pinch
Lemon zest (optional) 1 tsp
Water or milk 40 ml
Raisins (dried apricots, prunes) optional
Baking powder 1 tsp
Poppy or sesame for sprinkling

Cooking method

  • Knead a soft dough, roll out two sausages. Cut each sausage into 10 pieces. Mash each piece with your hands in a circle, put a few raisins or pieces of dried apricots, or pieces of prunes. Fold the flatbread in half, join the edges and flatten slightly. Dip one side into poppy seeds or toasted sesame seeds and place on a baking sheet lined with baking paper.
  • You can, of course, just roll out the dough and cut out figures or circles. Then you get more cookies.
  • Bake in a preheated oven at 200 ° C (convection 180 ° C) until the desired degree of browning.
  • The biscuits are crumbly, melt in the mouth.
  • I have never held a more pleasant shortbread dough in my hands!
  • I did it with water and milk - there is no difference. And, mind you, you don't need eggs, you don't need to refrigerate them in the refrigerator, beauty!

The house is large and there are many utility rooms. Baked the author's version: leaves with raisins and poppy sprinkles. Tanned, as her husband loves. The granddaughter really liked it, but "we", as always, are afraid to get fat, so it cost two cookies. I want to try this dough for shortbread baskets (bake in a silicone mold).
