Maybe I am writing in the wrong place, or maybe where it was already, but I looked, nevertheless, tell me, please, how to save lamb meat from an overly intense specific smell. Maybe you can soak it in something?

Oksyusha , you cannot get rid of this smell of meat. You can try to "fill" with some spices, but the smell will still remain. This is the meat of an old ram. I was advised to sniff meat when shopping. Normal lamb does not smell. Having prepared such meat, we could not eat it.

Yes, that's just not old meat (she practically knew a ram in the face), and the meat looks normal (bright, white fat, etc.) Since parents keep a whole herd, I can say that everyone smells, but with different intensity, which depends ... and who knows what. Some say that if you do not like such a smell, then there is nothing to buy mutton, because the smell is all charming. I do not buy, I am periodically given it as a gift in an amount of many kg. I read on the Internet that an hour before cooking they are soaked in milk, and then smeared with garlic, I'll try. I thought maybe someone else knows ways ...

We, in Moldova, soak meat in dry wine, but the specific smell remains all the same. Plus, I always use a lot of garlic, spices, including dry herbs such as oregano, thyme, rosemary, sometimes coriander, bay leaf, various peppers.
