Ingredients

Beet 150 g
Lemon juice (freshly squeezed) 1 tbsp. l.
Rice vinegar 1 1/2 tsp
Sugar 200 g
Butter (room temperature) 110 g
Vanilla extract 3/4 tsp
Flour 160 g
Eggs 2 pcs.
Buttermilk 120 ml
Cocoa 1 tbsp. l.
Baking powder 3/4 tsp
Salt 3/4 tsp

Cooking method

  • I really love the "Red Velvet" biscuit products - Red Velvet)))
  • I like the chic deep red color and velvety structure. The desired color can be achieved with food coloring.
  • But, as always, we try to minimize the presence of chemicals in our lives, especially in food. Therefore, many try to get the desired red color using beets, a natural dye.
  • I chose the recipe of the American blogger, author of the book, Jamie Mormann.
  • You need to bake one medium or two small beets in the oven in advance. Pour 1-2 cm of water into a container, put beets, cover with a piece of parchment paper and foil. Turn on the oven at 200 * C, bake for 60-90 minutes. Cool, peel and puree in a food processor.
  • 1. Prepare the mold, greased with paste (mixture of butter and flour), put in the refrigerator.
  • 2. Turn on the oven at 175 * C.
  • 3. Stir all dry ingredients and set aside.
  • 4. Put wet ingredients in the thicket and mix everything at speed 3 for 30 seconds (I have Thermomix).
  • 5. Without setting the time, at speed 3, add dry ingredients with a spoon. Mix everything well.
  • 6. Fill the mold with the mixture, tap on a hard surface to remove bubbles.
  • 7. Place in the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes.
  • 8. After removing from the oven, leave in the form for 10 minutes.
  • 9. Turn over onto a wire rack and cool.
