Look here for a small report on it.
Linochka! I'm in full swing! Where did you buy it? What are its dimensions? It's just a bomb! Until I show it to my husband, otherwise he will go crazy! And I need a healthy husband!
And yesterday we collected the first tea, that is, leaves for him! Cherry leaf - 2 kg 300 gr. Now he is in the room. I'll put it in the freezer in the evening.

Only leaves.
Quote: businkairika
two varieties of mint, it doesn't matter which one to make?
Doesn't matter at all. The taste will be slightly different, but not essential. I even did it from steppe (dog mint or ivy budra).
lappl1
businkairika, Irina, I made from both wild mint and noble. Equally good result.
Quote: businkairika

Irina, only leaves. The stems are juicy and rough. They will give a lot of juice, dry out for a long time. The leaves have already wilted, but the stems will not think. So the fermentation will not be of high quality due to excess moisture.
Tatka1
lappl1, Lyudochka, and how many mint leaves are dried in time? their vein does not crunch, and does not loosen up when compressed strongly. all the same 8 hours?
And further. Much has been written, I seem to have studied everything, but from the excess of information, I confuse something)))
I plan the mint like this: now I wither, then without a freezer immediately go to the meat grinder 2 times and to dry. So?
Or do you need to freeze all the same and mint?
Natusichka
And I did the mint completely: both the leaves and the stem, everything turned out just fine! Without withering - through a meat grinder and into a dryer. Such a flavor turned out !!!! Like peppermint candy. Very different from just dried mint leaves.
Tatka1
Natusichka, into a meat grinder twice?

Added Wednesday 15 Jun 2016 12:50 PM

Why am I so worried. Last year I dried mint and did something wrong, it generally lost its aroma ((((And I dried the second batch, the smell is super! But I just don't want dried mint, but I want granules

How many mint leaves to dry?
depends on the ambient temperature, but usually 3-4 hours is enough.
Quote: Tatiana1
now I'm sluggish, then without a freezer immediately into a meat grinder 2 times and for drying. So?
If according to People, then so. If according to the usual method, then after scrolling there is still fermentation for 3 hours. If according to Zakhar, then after withering 2 freeze-thawing cycles, scroll and ferment for 1.5-2 hours, then dry.
lappl1

and how much time to dry mint leaves? their vein does not crunch, and does not loosen up when compressed strongly. all the same 8 hours?
Tatiana1, to be absolutely precise .... Is there a scale? It is necessary that after withering, 60% of the mass remains. And how much to dry, I can't say. Lina has already written (and I am in the recipe too) that it depends on what the weather is. In general, I'm not bothering now - I wrapped the leaves in a sheet and everything is in order.

I do as it says in the recipe. But Lina and Zakhar - in their own way. So, choose what seems closer. I cannot advise, as I did not do it according to their method.

Tatiana1Conventionally dried mint, like other herbs, cannot retain the flavor. Our methods preserve it and even strengthen it. So don't worry. Do one of the following. My 3-year-old mint smells so strong !!! And it is made completely without fermentation, that is, as the recipe says.

I made a cherry, but during fermentation the smell was some kind of usual and did not change. Cherry itself is old - none. Dried, brewed. During the second brewing, the granules did not fall apart, but the taste was matepuseny at all. So far, the apple tree is in the first place.
Cherries, currants, apple trees are fermented, but again I can't catch a special smell. It took 5 hours. I'll wait some more. I do everything according to the recipe. Maybe with my sense of smell ........
A leaf of black currant and an Antonovka leaf are dried. In the evening will go to the freezer
To be continued.

steppe (dog mint or ivy budra) did.
I read. that it is considered poisonous. So I don't make anything out of it, but I have a lot of it.
How can you make tea out of it in more detail?
Nadyushich
lara55, I do not bother with the smell of tea from garden leaves, I just ferment for 6-8 hours and to dry. Judging by the last year, there were no misfires, tea, if you don't like it right away, then it will be infused and will be delicious. And if then something in the taste does not suit you, then you can mix different teas and get what you like. Usually they sniff Ivanushka, but I don't bother with him either, I also ferment for 6-8 hours. Last year I experimented with time, and now I am satisfied with the average time variant.

Nadyushich, Hope, calmed down, and Ivanushki something in the area we do not observe, unfortunately. If only to go, but in which direction? I asked a neighbor about fireweed, and they widened their eyes ...
Lind @
Larissa, don't be surprised that Ivan-tea and fireweed are not everyone knows the same thing.
And as for the plant itself. In recent years, I got the impression that there is less of it in the Moscow region. At least that's how it is around my dacha.

When you go from Moscow to Ivanovo, one fireweed grows along the railway, especially when it blooms. Everything around him turns red from him. And we had a small playground in Kursk, where my husband and I tore fireweed, and then he disappeared. They say he can migrate.
Lind @
We began to collect it and he ran away from us? No, I don't play like that.
businkairika
Linadoc, lappl1, girls, thank you very much for the answers. Now I'll cut off all the mint for tea.
Nadyushich
Lind @, Probably, he just plays in strands ...
Tatka1
I scrolled the mint once in a meat grinder, and when I started to twist it a second time, the juice flowed. I had to throw out half, and send the second to the dryer. Somehow I'm not smart

Florichka, IrinaHow did the raspberry pellets not crumble? Did you add some berries?
What kind of plant is the bourd?
Florichka
I think that the point is in the method of Zacharias, I did not add berries. You see what color is saturated. Ivy budra.

Can you make tea from sleepy?
Florichka
no, you need to sour, add to soups, salads, omelets.

The "batch test" did not pass, and it makes no sense to make tea from it. Right Irina wrote, it can be used differently. But they already made tea from wheatgrass, Zachary I did, I'm happy.

Larissa, the girls all praised the cherries so much, and my cherry tea had no aroma. She was very upset and did not ask for more leaves. She removed the jar from her eyes for a long time, and when she opened it, there was the aroma of cherry jam from childhood. Granny sent from Ukraine.
So hide away, you will be surprised at the fragrant tea later.

I raise my pressure with hot green tea. But if you make green tea, will it have the same effect? Has anyone tried it?

Larissa, of course not! Our teas have a different chemical composition. In particular, they are completely devoid of caffeine, tannin and other substances that affect blood pressure. That is why they are valuable!

Oh, my dears! And I have a happy event!
All of a sudden, grape scraps fell to me. We went to the village on other matters, and then we saw a pile of grape scraps, which were being prepared for disposal. In general, I got all the ethno wealth in spite of the downpour, not that much, about 0.5 kg of leaves - mine!
I didn’t want to make grape tea, but now this 0.5 kg. I will wither and freeze, then I will add another grape leaf (there is still a outline of where to get a bit)) and I will have mono-grapes!
Here I am sitting until the night, soaking wet grape leaves in the sheets. Then I'll wrap it up in a sheet and go baiushki.

What did you want to ask, the young grape vine left over, does it make sense to twist for fiber? or how?
Rada-dms
And for me tea made from pure badan raises the pressure, it has been tested several times, so despite its taste, which I like, now I don't drink it. But Ivan-tea with black chokeberry lowers blood pressure. My husband simply cuts out after him, so he began to add black or green, and if I brew for him, I use mate tea as a base.
Elena Kadiewa
Irina, let me disagree with you. Even at the beginning of the tea epic, our doctors wrote that medicinal properties weaken (from medicinal plants), but others are revealed, so you need to start drinking teas with caution, not in liters. Liters is then.
Ivanushka regulates my blood pressure, it is also a light diuretic.
Well, they definitely raise the mood!
And I repeat: don't put anything in your mouth! So our pharmacist wrote.

When disassembling the freezer, I found frozen peach leaves. I got to the site because of him. If you brew fresh peach leaves with coffee or tea, you will get an amaretto flavor. That's what I wanted to keep. I just dried peach leaves, made tea in different ways - both green and steamed, and according to Zachariah, and different fermentation, and different frying. But the taste of amaretto in teas - alas! The peach went to the frame and therefore there were plenty of leaves. And peach tea supplies. But then I discovered other teas, now a favorite of strawberry leaves.
Radushka
Vasyutka, Nataliya, but I like strawberries only in mixes. All one and a half kilograms of ready-made strawberry-mono mixed with others and have already drunk (almost). Now I won't make mono-strawberries

VasyutkaThank you for writing about Amaretto. We have a lot of these peaches for cutting. But they left it until the fall. So today I will try to make tea with peach leaves.

Radushka, and when did you do it? If you make it late, in September-October, yes "fry", it turns out very tasty tea.

If it is done late, in September-October

Lyudochka, in September-October on our strawberries the leaves are in such a state that you don't want to look at them, let alone let them into tea! If this year autumn is not the same as last year (two months of ANY rain), then ... maybe ... Leaving strawberries without foliage in the winter after dry until the ringing of autumn is in no way impossible! She will freeze! As this year has shown, many strawberries disappeared. Although there was watering. No amount of watering beats rain! And now I had to pick the leaves on the blooming one. The rains are pouring! The leaves are huge, tall! The flowers in the buds were starting to rot! It seems to have helped. Well, I also made the seagulls ... a mix.
You know, how I remember YEARS without your temka ... How many leaves have gone ... It's good if they were put into compost, and many were simply burned. Eh ...

Hello! I do not know where it would be necessary to write this message, so I am writing in this thread. In general, I tried to make tea cherry-wild geranium. The withering geranium smelled magical! the cherry did not show itself especially this time. I twisted everything together in a meat grinder with maximum grill holes and set it to ferment for about 7 hours, the smell was pleasant, but not particularly inspiring. Drying with frying. In general, he lay with me for 4 days and I could not stand it, I tried it - I was upset (. Tea is brewed well. Certainly not as Zakhariy showed in his topic about tea from geraniums, but still bright enough. But there is no aroma ((and the taste like ordinary average black tea (((... so I think, as if I would not spoil it for too long drying ((((
Oktyabrinka
Good day. experienced tea makers please tell me - can peony flowers be dried in tea or not? otherwise it will soon fade, otherwise the flowers may come in handy. Thank you
Radushka
Maryanne, do not worry! Tea is bound to get BETTER after storage. Read on the first page? An understandable desire to taste your tea is often disappointing. But in vain. It will take quite a bit of time ... a couple of months at least ... and your "usual average black tea" will turn into an elite one, for which the most expensive varieties of store will not fit in!
If freshly prepared already looks like black, then I GUARANTEE that after a long pre-fermentation during storage it will become excellent!
And by the way, the delicate aroma of geranium can be "killed" by frying. Maybe such tea should be made without frying? In any case, I am very grateful for the description of your experience. I will try the gentle mode of drying geranium tea today
Maryanne
Radushka Thank you! I really hope so!)), but so far from all my experiences I more or less like only raspberries ...
