Cooking method

  • Pour in flour, salt and sugar. We mix everything.
  • Bread Santa Claus
  • Pour a bag of fast-acting yeast there. Mix again.

  • Add water in small portions and knead the dough well for about 10 minutes.
  • Bread Santa Claus
  • Put the dough into a bowl, cover with plastic wrap and leave to come up.
  • Bread Santa Claus
  • The dough should approximately double in volume.
  • Bread Santa Claus
  • Divide the dough into about 2 equal parts.
  • Roll out a pear-shaped base (future face) from one part.
  • Bread Santa Claus
  • From the second part we will need to make the nose, the top of the cap and the pompom, the elastic from the cap, the beard and mustache.
  • Trying on the blanks:
  • Bread Santa Claus
  • Most of it goes naturally to the beard. Roll it out so that the beginning of the beard is the same width as the base of the face. Roll out the dough rather thin.
  • Bread Santa Claus
  • Then we cut the beard (without cutting 7-10 millimeters from above) into vertical strips and begin to twist spirals from them.
  • Bread Santa Claus
  • The beard is ready.

  • Now, using the "fitting" method, we roll out the upper part of the cap. We make a nose and a pompom from small balls. And we also roll out an elastic band for a hat in the form of a strip. There should be some mustache scraps. I divided the second part of the dough by eye, redistributed several times, I cannot write the proportions in which I divided the dough.
  • Further, I carried out all the assembly work immediately on a baking sheet lined with baking paper and oiled with vegetable oil.
  • We connect all our details. The places where the second layer of details is applied (the place under the hat, beard, nose, pompom) for better fastening is better to grease with an egg (and I greased it with sweet tea).
  • Bread Santa Claus
  • Now you need to paint the hat, nose and cheeks with food coloring. Instead of food coloring, I decided to make natural dye from beets. Three beets on a coarse grater, pour into a saucepan, fill with water so that the water covers the beets. As soon as the liquid boils, add a pinch of citric acid to brighten the color, and reduce the heat to a minimum. Cook for about half an hour, then filter. Our dye is ready.
  • We paint the hat, elastic band, pompom, top of the nose and cheeks. It is better to paint the elastic from the cap separately, so as not to accidentally paint your face). And I painted my nose and cheeks with a small stick, otherwise the paint would spread.
  • I made the eyes from olives.
  • Bread Santa Claus
  • Lubricate the rest with an egg for browning. Instead of an egg, I took sweet strong black tea.
  • Bread Santa Claus
  • Santa Claus is ready. We heat the oven to 170C. We set to bake for about 30 minutes.

We'll have to do one more In general, making such a Santa Claus together with the children can become an excellent tradition in any family on the eve of the New Year holidays. It will be very exciting and interesting.

Cool recipe! Found one on an Italian site. I wanted to cook, but I already have it in Russian 🔗
In the topic of discussion of the competition, the Chef explained that if the recipe differs from the one published on the Russian Internet, you can cook it. In the recipe you have given, only the idea of forming bread is repeated, the dough recipe itself is not there at all. In my source, the recipe inside and out, including the preparation of the dough. So I don't think I broke the rules of the competition. Otherwise, practically nothing can be cooked at all, only your own author's recipes, the rest is present in one form or another on the Russian Internet. The request to the moderators to judge whether I understood the terms of the competition correctly.

Clear! I am also very interested in this question! If what you say is true, I will be very grateful, because it is really hard to find a unique recipe
