Sens,
times change, and the Robot has released a robot with navigation and a lithium-ion battery suitable for other models. I do not follow the price of the issue, this is an expense, where you can always find it yourself.

The Chinese sell lithium too, but the quality and safety still suck.

will it fit for 505?
Medtech
People have already tested - no problems, but with 6-8 series, you better not risk with 505, buy any yellow or blue on aliexpress, just not the cheapest one.
Here's what one tester writes: Also now I'm running the original irobot li-ion battery from the 980th in the 880th robot.
It works and charges normally, without error No. 5, after 4 full charge-discharge cycles the flight is still normal, nothing is dead.
The Moscow service says that the old robot models need to be reflashed to a new firmware for lithium, otherwise the battery can die quickly. But this firmware is not yet available and therefore Muscovites are still selling li-ion batteries for old robot models to everyone. Meanwhile, Ni-Mh batteries have run out everywhere and are not available yet.
I asked the American support irobot if it was possible to install new li-ion battery from 980 on old robots, they answered that they had not carried out full testing and did not promise compatibility
Sens
Medtech, I don't need a battery yet. I last bought it in Germany.

If there is news on the compatibility of the battery with the 505, write pliz !!!

Someone bought on Ali and I kind of threw myself into the basket. Now I ransacked everything and did not find it. I would also order with Ali. I have Rumba 780

I thought you have a working link. I just don’t really understand: any blue or yellow. When you don’t really understand, it’s difficult to navigate.

I wanted to buy a robot vacuum cleaner. I lean towards the 776th model. Area 64 sq. m + loggia 6 sq. m. Coverings - tiles, laminate and small short pile carpets. There is a long-haired cat. There are no long-haired bipeds. I'm allergic. I will serve and take care of the robot. Can you tell me if this model is right for me or would you recommend something else? And is there an opportunity to buy this model at a cheaper price or there are no discounts for it?
Medtech
Belka13, In my opinion, you are leaning in the right direction, you should look for discounts from local dealers, but there is always the opportunity to get a gray robot and repair it at your own expense or at the expense of the store that will sell it to you, you should look at the serial number of the robot
ksyusha1997
Medtech, I have Rumba630, she is exactly 3 years old. I understand that it is time to change the battery. But something strange has happened recently, after charging I start it, and within the first minute it stops and says that it needs to be charged, the red lights up. I put it on charging, a little time passes completely, the green lights up, I start it, and the cleaning cycle goes on normally. And so every time on the second attempt, but only in the last month somewhere, before everything was in order. What is the problem? scares that it's not a battery ... And another question about the battery, buying a new one, can you buy on Ali? Don't understand yellow or blue? Something got entangled in them.
Medtech
ksyusha1997, This is just an indicator that it is time to change, when recharging, charging with a high current occurs, this is just enough to remove it from you, error 5 will soon begin to appear and you will still have to buy the battery.
You can buy on Ali, but it's beyond my power, to watch who is selling, how many sales, what reviews, it's up to you to read which one to buy. Buying is not the cheapest.
enotik70
I just can't understand, those rumba that do not support beacons are removed only by room? I have a two-piece undershirt, I don’t understand whether it will be lost or not))))) thanks.
Medtech
enotik70, even at 3 and 4 it will find the way back, only the area is large, there will be large gaps, there will often be rooms not cleaned, the robot cleans an hour and a half in apartments of a large area, but if you start it again, it will go to clean again and another hour will be able. And after recharging it is ready again.
In a kopeck piece he will clean up and find a road and drive through each place 3 times.
The Chinese usually clean up before the battery is discharged, but they also completely clean up in the kopeck piece.
enotik70
That is, without lighthouses, you can take and not bother with them? I don’t understand how he finds his bearings then ... and how does he know that it’s time to start another room ..
Lisichkalal
Tell me please. I have a rumba 620, I wanted to buy the same for my parents, but they are no longer on sale (without any virtual walls, etc. For cleaning the usual three-ruble notes.
Which robot replaced it? and where to buy in Moscow in a trusted place? And how much does it cost?
Sorry for the stupid questions, I haven't been to Russia for a long time and I lost my scent)
Medtech
Lisichkalal, the simplest rumba is now 631,

Proven places are usually not the lowest price or the same level as the official.
Lisichkalal
Sergei, Thank you!
And besides the officials, what are the checked places? Eldorado, technosila, m-video? Or are they bad stores?
Medtech
Lisichkalal, Clients mostly bring robots to me for repairs, I don't ask where they get them, they get them somewhere, here are the spare parts mainly from the officials or on ebee, I am well versed in this, in the above places there are mainly service centers, to minimize costs, see the price ...
Belka13
Medtech, Sergei, many thanks for your help in choosing a robot vacuum cleaner.
I got myself an Irobot 776, tried to launch it today. Despite the fact that I just vacuumed the apartment last night, this morning the robot completely filled the garbage container in half an hour. Wow! Super! It feels like even the air has become cleaner and fresher!
Such a question: is it necessary to keep the robot on charge at all times, or can you put it in a closet, taking it out if necessary? I'm afraid that in my absence, the cat may inadvertently press the Clean button with its paw and start it.
Medtech
Belka13The rumba does not have a power switch, the robot is designed for frequent cleaning, preferably every day, every other day, after two, very rarely where the robot can cope with working once a week, it's okay that the cat starts the robot, it will just be cleaner in your apartment. The manufacturer assumes that the robot will always stand on the charge ready for cleaning. Therefore, if you put the robot into a closet, the robot will discharge the battery in 10 days, such discharges are not terrible for a new battery, but over time, such discharges will destroy the battery faster, you should follow the manufacturer's instructions.
Belka13
Medtech, Sergei, many thanks for the advice. I will try to run the device more often. Moreover, the result was pleasing.
ludmila_27.79
I also dream of Rumba. Once I told my husband that I want a robot vacuum cleaner. So yesterday he brings a robot, just not a rumba, but some kind of cheap Roboclean 5000. I didn't find anything like that on the Internet. I started trying, I didn't like it. He turned off very often because he got stuck. I constantly had to run and turn it on. Our apartment is 100 sq. m, 4 rooms. The floor is laminate, there are no carpets, but the hall has a marble threshold 4 cm high and above it there is a bar with cupboards below. So this vacuum cleaner constantly climbed on this threshold and got stuck there in the opening under the cabinet and squeaked. Will Rumba also get stuck like that, or simply won't he climb this threshold? Further, what I did not like about the cheap: it works for 1.5 hours, and then it gets infected for 12 hours! Is Rumba charging for 3 hours? In principle, even a cheap vacuum cleaner normally collects garbage, but constantly running after it and pulling it out is nonsense! So the husband will give this vacuum cleaner back to the store. And now I want Rumba even more, because I liked the principle of operation of robotic vacuum cleaners. I hope that Rumba is still smarter than its cheap brothers, can you confirm the owners of Rumba? Only now the husband does not want to pay big money for Rumba. Can you recommend some budget model for Rumba or maybe get a boo?

Can you recommend some budget model for Rumba or maybe get a boo?
I would take a used one. Very often quite normal things come across like that.
ludmila_27.79
In a used one, you will probably need to change the battery right away. And I called on several ads and something doubted about buying not a new robot vacuum cleaner. Because the owners told me that the robot used to work normally, but stood for a long time without use and now it started to glitch, it turns on, and then turns itself off after a while. Or could the battery run out?
Medtech
ludmila_27.79, it is worth answering 10 simple questions on the selection of a vacuum cleaner robot for a specific apartment, if you have already answered some, then it is worth answering again, it is much more pleasant to see all the answers together. The questions are easy to find online or on the previous pages.
And not only change the battery, but remove the bumper in Rumba and clean transparent windows and proximity sensors from dust.
If the rumba is a year and a half, then the batteries are usually still far from depletion, but it all depends on the operation and other subtleties, usually 50/50, as you are lucky.

Could sit down, and maybe even more unpleasant - it began to glitch, repairs are unjustified and they are trying to apply for half the price. The services of these devices are still peculiar, and the prevalence is not so high. Another thing is the price of such a rumba, this is a couple of cleaning the apartment by a cleaning agency, and he can only eat socks. and they also steal much that is bad :(

Can you provide a link?
I can list a part:
1. Area, number of rooms, their configuration
2. Covering (carpet, carpet, what kind of pile)
3. The presence of pets
4. Coverage of furniture.
5. The rate of dust settling - a friend has a concrete goods plant nearby, how this tiny gray dust penetrates through plastic windows and a ventilation system, a mystery, but it's ...
6. The price you are willing to pay.

Tell me please. I bought rumba 631 and there is no instruction in Russian. This is normal ? How much to charge the first time?
ludmila_27.79
I bought a second-hand Roomba 531. Happy !!! It has not been used much, so it is in excellent condition. The owners recently changed the battery and it holds for 1.5 hours, I checked it myself, this is really so. The rumba noise is much quieter than the cheap model of the robot vacuum cleaner which I wrote about earlier. Very smart, even though I took a very simple model without programming. He finds the base himself without any problems. For one battery charge, I vacuumed a 30m hall, a long corridor, a kitchen and one bedroom. There was only a shortage of charge for 2 bedrooms, which he vacuumed without issue after a 3 hour charge. Although they write that the rumba senses elevation changes and does not fall, there was one problem for him in the hall. We have a fireplace and near it the floor is 3 cm below the main floor level somewhere. So the robot was constantly stuck there and could not leave on its own, it had to be pulled out. And I hoped that he would perceive it as a cliff and would not go there. But this problem can be eliminated, the floor near the fireplace is simply not completed after the repair and when it is done, there will be no problems with the robot. Are movement coordinators suitable for 531 models and how effective are they when cleaning a large apartment? I also wanted to ask if my rumba has a 6-point brush, but I've seen it everywhere in the photo, but there are 3-point on the sale of consumables. Which brush is more effective than a 6 or 3-point brush?

The instructions in Russian can be found and downloaded on the Internet. And you need to charge the first time for 16 hours, so they write in the instructions

My congratulations, write a review about the work of this beast. Are you giving him a large area for forage?
Medtech
ludmila_27.79, better 3-beam ,. 6 is only the Chinese are now selling, and the Robot refused long ago, it throws more garbage and pry carpets and as a result wears out quickly, the quantity does not always turn into quality. 3 cm is a small height, the robot clearly sees drops of more than 7-10 cm, which is really dangerous. You can find and put a strip of black fabric in the drop, it absorbs more IR radiation and the robot will decide that the drop is larger.
Coordinators for 531 model are not suitable, only virtual walls, or coordinators in virtual wall mode, the robot does not have a radio channel. Virtual walls are suitable for the entire Roomba line.

Belka13
Medtech, a question. My Rumba 776 does not see the circular stop at close range, it drives and moves it from its place. Something is wrong? Or does he have his own whims? And the virtual wall doesn't always work correctly.

10 QUESTIONS:

1. The area of the apartment?
2. Number of rooms?
3. Size of the largest room or combined space?
4. The composition of the coatings?
5. The presence of animals and which ones?
6. The presence of long-haired with a hair length of more than 25cm?
7. Who will service the robot (clean, empty the bin, watch)?
8. How do you imagine the work of a robot?
9. Are you ready to adjust the apartment for robotic cleaning?
10. Budget?
Medtech
Belka13, it is worth looking at how the robot parks, when approaching the base, the robot must reduce its speed to a minimum 20-30 cm from the base.
Belka13
Sergei, Medtech, thanks, I'll watch.

Coordinators for 531 models are not suitable, only virtual walls
sorry they don't fit. In my opinion, the lighthouses start with the 560 model. Today I didn’t put restrictions on the rumba, closed the doors in only 2 bedrooms and left him to clean the hall, kitchen and corridor. And before, I always closed one room and did not release the rumba until he finished this room, and then I carried him to another room and closed there too. Without restrictions, the rumba did not seem to clean up so thoroughly to me, because, for some reason, he would go to the hall, then immediately to the corridor, to the kitchen, for some reason, he never stopped by. The battery only lasts for 1.5 hours, and when the charge was already running out, the rumba himself parked at the base. I tidied it up well, but I think because I drive it every day, and in the evening there is also a floor of soap, so in the morning it was more or less clean. But if there was a lot of litter, he would not have coped, because in some places he never drove at all. So I think, maybe I should have bought a model with lighthouses so that I could leave and the rumba cleaned up himself. Medtech, tell me, did you clean a large apartment with the help of beacons, is the robot much faster and cleaner?
Medtech
Of course, otherwise the beacons and the connection between the robot and the beacons cannot be checked. the robot works behind the lighthouse from 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the room, if the room is more than 25 meters, then there will be gaps and flaws.
You should turn off the base after the start, the robot will clean until the batteries run out, so check how many of them are enough in real life, just do not leave the discharged robot, be sure to turn on the base and put it on charge. You can always do this, in some form it is a warm-up for the batteries.
ksyusha1997
How to deal with the problem of strengthening the base? The robot cannot get up, while it is cleaning, it moves it a hundred times, and then while it is parking ... too. How can it be fixed? I tried it on double-sided tape, everything flew off, it didn't last long.
ludmila_27.79
I move the base close to the wall and the robot does not move it, it parks normally
Medtech
ksyusha1997, you either have a robot or a base defective, the rumba in good condition does not move the base and does not approach it at a distance of 20-30 cm during the cleaning process.
zhita
I remove the base when I start the robot, I have a simple model, without programming, it will remove, stop and beep. I generally clean it up, wiped the dust, turned on the rumba, and cleaned it myself in another room. Then I start the floor polisher, and the rumba in the next room. Sometimes I can clean one room a day. I don’t use it in the kitchen or in the corridor, they don’t turn around there.
ludmila_27.79
Medtech, tell me, please, I have had a side brush with a bolt several times at rumba 531 during operation. When I screw on the brush with a bolt, I feel that it does not screw on tightly and scrolls. Need to change your side brush? Are the new brushes sold with or without bolts?
Medtech
ludmila_27.79, replacing the brush and "bolt" will not help, it is worth looking for a screw a little longer, the hole for the screw is worn out, or you do not snap the brush on the axis, usually it holds tight even without a screw, but you cannot pull it off with a screw at all. If you buy from the officials, then already with self-tapping screws, but in any case you need to look or find out.
ludmila_27.79
Quote: Medtech

most likely, and maybe the problem is that the brush is not native, but I do not know which 6-beam company.
Medtech
ludmila_27.79,
uncle Liao's Chinese brand. iRobot does not complete its robots with 6 ray brushes, only 3x, if you were careful then remember - I already described this.

Good day to all, I am a happy owner of rumba 871.
Needless to say - on an area of 180 sq m this is a good assistant! Well, here are a few questions accumulated:
1. What is the best thing to do if the whole family is absent for 15 to 10 days?
2. what is better to do - absence of 5 months?
3. if the base is near a wall where there is a plinth - and the rumba is pushed and does not get up to recharge or is looking for charging for a long time how to understand who the base or rumba is not working?
Medtech
180m. that's too much...
1.You can leave the robot on the base, you can remove the battery, and it is very desirable to turn off the base.
2. Remove the battery; it is imperative to disconnect the base, but you can leave the robot on the switched on base.
3. put the robot at a distance of 1m in front of the base towards the base and press the Dock button.
4 put the robot in front of the base at a distance of 1m in the opposite direction from the base and press the Dock button.
it is better to record a video and upload it somewhere or describe in detail what happens.
