Cake "Potato"

Cake Potato

Ingredients

Biscuit cookies 250 g
Hot milk 1/2 tbsp.
Butter (I melt it) 75 g
Roasted hazelnuts
(you can also almonds,
but hazelnuts give a brighter
wonderful taste)
100 g
Cocoa 2 tbsp. l.
Powdered sugar 2 tbsp. l.
Liquor
(Baileys fits very well,
Amarullah and other creamy)
2 tbsp. l.

Cooking method

  • Grind the cookies and hazelnuts into crumbs in a blender. Add cocoa and powder (completely in the amount indicated in the recipe for the sprinkling - take it yourself by eye). Pour in milk and butter and liquor. Stir. You should get a mass that holds the shape in which the spoon stands rooted to the spot. Roll up the balls and roll in a mixture of powder, cocoa (in half) and crushed hazelnuts. In the palm of your hand, gently shake the ball with a boat to shake off excess dust. Decorate as you like and refrigerate.
  • If you are doing it for children, exclude liquor.

Note

I love this cake too. Here are my "potatoes"

I fished out the recipe from the Gastronome's book "about chocolate" and ran it in ...

She did not discover America, but maybe she reminded someone ...

Scarecrow, made almost according to the recipe (there were only biscuits in the house), it took twice as much milk. It is still in the refrigerator, but I liked it on my licked fingers
Thank you!

Have you already tried the cakes themselves? How do you like them in their present state? I hadn't thought of nuts and cream liqueur in them before. All ingenious is simple. That's when I read it and tried it - they give a very interesting note, in my opinion ...
yuliya_k
The nuts inside are delicious! But I didn't want alcohol, otherwise I was somehow even from the rum woman: red
The first portion was consumed in the evening and in the morning, the second - in the day (made from bread crumbs from a loaf, the cookies ended). It turned out delicious too! In general, as I understood, you can make potatoes from whatever you like, it is still tastier than the purchased one.And also positive - there are not so few of them (potatoes)
Irina_hel
There are no cookies at home. But there are croutons from the loaf!
yuliya_k I did it, I went to do it, but I wanted something like that "Potatoes"!

And I generally make "potatoes" from white bread (loaf) (the recipe has been since school days (home economics lessons)), and nothing, everyone really likes it!

I have no cookies either. Give, pliz, a recipe from batan.
yuliya_k
So I did it according to this recipe, only instead of cookies, white bread rusks. If it doesn't seem sweet enough, you can add a spoonful of powdered sugar. But I did everything according to the recipe (though I absorbed a little more milk, I like wet ones)
Irina_hel
In home economics lessons, they made from purchased crackers, after that - only from cookies.
And today it turned out just great on crackers from my loaf!
Tatjanka_1
girls, and you probably grind crackers too?
My croutons are already all fried, will it affect the taste?
250g biscuit cookies replace with the same amount of crackers?
yuliya_k
Crackers are ground, of course. Fried - I don't know, maybe someone even tastes better. Yes, I replaced the cookies with the same amount of crackers.
Panevg1943
And if you grind the finished biscuit cake layer with a blender? Probably the most it will be.

You can, but the biscuit should be dry. Not dried, but a little dry. It will be better this way.

Thanks for the recipe. : rose: Here's the report.

Next time I'll add less oil, you can see directly that I have a bit of fat. And I will not roll too much, otherwise one place will stick together.
Bozhedarka
I love potatoes, but I don't buy cookies, we have them dry. Whatever I have tried, the potato turns out to be stone.
I'm making a biscuit.
4 eggs ,
a glass of sugar
a glass of flour ,
one to two tablespoons of cocoa,
a third of a teaspoon of slaked soda.
I beat it, bake it for half an hour, keep it in the oven without opening for five hours.
Then I break it into crumbs.
Cream
a can of condensed milk, 200 grams of butter, beat one or two tablespoons of cocoa. I add 2 tablespoons of brandy or vodka.
I knead the crumb with the cream, stir the homogeneous dough. Form 18 balls and roll in cocoa. Refrigerate for a few hours. Tastes like chocolate truffles. All kneading takes about 15 minutes, so it's not very dreary. Cocoa box 2 spoons, we are lovers of dark chocolate, who loves milk chocolate, one spoon is enough for that.
Rezlina
Scarecrow, here it is, I found it Better to dry the pulp in the oven, so that it will become like a cookie? Put the porridge right on a baking sheet and in the oven?
Scarecrow
Rezlina,

I think yes. But don't bake! namely low temperature - dry. 40-50 degrees. Let it just dry. Not necessarily in crackers, it will just dry out. And forward.

It turned out very tasty! Thanks for the recipe

I caught fire to make potatoes. Only I can’t decide on biscuit cookies (I practically don’t buy them.) I don’t want to make crackers for a long time, the taste is not the same. Can someone tell me the brand.

Svetlana, except for Savoyardi, I don't even know what to advise ...

And you can bake savoyardi yourself, well, if, of course, time allows and the desire to eat ...

Although I did with strawberry "Jubilee" although it is never biscuit, but sugar), it was nice ...

Therefore, you can buy any sugar ...

Oh, now for me Chucha pokes over the ears for such advice ...
orange
Crochet, No, I can't bake something .... But I love potatoes. Sinful.
Crochet
Svetlana, and you have no savoyardi for sale)?

They would fit very well here ...

More cookies "Leningradskoe", also biscuit ...
orange
There is a savoyardi, of course, but it costs "savoyardi"
But what about Leningrad, Who even produces it. What stores to look for?

I make cakes to order and there are a lot of scraps left after leveling, my houses cannot finish them already, so I grind these stubs all in a heap in the combine (it also happens to add stale cookies, muffins, gingerbread ... everything will do just not spoiled) , I add a couple of spoons of cocoa (if the cakes are pale), I don't add to the chocolate scraps ... I will melt butter (50-80 grams), a can of delicious condensed milk and knead the dough, sculpt with the kids, you can roll in croutons or powdered sugar, steamed hours in the refrigerator, the oil will set and the potatoes will be elastic. And the children of the sea have fun from the lesson and delicious tea for tea) and do not throw anything away, the most important thing
Olekma
I usually make "Zeya" cookies, I don't melt this local butter, I add boiled or plain condensed milk, cocoa powder and well, if there is, there are also ground walnuts.
Or sometimes I bake specially for "potatoes" cake cakes "camelina." I grind them and then, as usual, butter, cocoa and condensed milk.

This is the only phrase in my head after reading this topic for a long time.)) I'm going to heat the oven for chicken, let me, I think, quickly "dry" a biscuit. I climb into the bookmarks to read - a fig, the Internet does not work at the right time. And the oven is already heating up ...

Beat up a regular biscuit (without separation), less sugar, more flour, spread a thin layer on a silicone mat ... Now I go to the topic -

And I did it in 40 minutes.
I went to look - the crusts are fragile, and the middle a finger is thick - biscuit.)) Though dense. I broke it into pieces, I will dry it after the chicken.
Scarecrow
Bijou,

And the result is sure to take a picture !!!)))

I'll try.)) If there is anything. The fruit of inspired improvisation, so to speak.
Well, what about? When you yourself don’t think of a belmes, the only thing that remains is that “improvising” is not a big brain.

It's just that my husband at work was recently treated to potatoes. He pinned us home to treat us with a "delicacy", I took a bite and said that I didn't eat this, the children also somehow slowly destroyed one "potato". In the end ... Okay, we'll omit this episode.))

But I even remembered that I had read here once, so I decided to try to do it. Pahala my husband to peel the nuts. The first five pans died the death of the brave, the next two seem to be trying to survive.

But in life, it’s not something that I didn’t do - I still didn’t even know what it could be from. And in the local topic there is so much - and crackers, and cookies, and biscuits ... Straight eyes run up.

I don't know anything, I just opened it.

Yesterday I crumbled the biscuit into slices and dried in the oven. Probably, it was just necessary to bring it to a stale state, but for me it dried out into a splash and even began to blush again, and it tasted like crunchy meringue.)) Therefore, I slightly reduced the amount, took not 250 grams, but 200-220. It took about half, that is, in the end it is a biscuit for about two eggs, half a cup of sugar and 2/3 cup of flour. Well, he is plump, yes.)

Cake Potato

The crumbs turned out - dust is dust.)) I heated the milk with butter in the microwave, it turned out to be almost a glass of liquid. Baileys, yes, was present. And still it seemed a bit dry - I added a spoon and a half of condensed milk.

It was molded wonderfully, but the last portions, having cooled down, began to crumble slightly. If there were still a lot left, I would have had to warm up, probably, but I did it right.

Stand freeze. The smell is amazing !!

Cake Potato

Now I cut off the photo - at least I counted. No, but what is Bijou !! Without hesitation, the hands themselves divided the portion of the "dough" into 10 quite even pieces !!!

Thank you, in short, Natul.
Scarecrow
Bijou,

This is some kind of detective !!!))) Write further, girl, you have talent!
Bijou
ScarecrowBaileys was clearly redundant.
I ate one, I sit drunk and want to sleep.
Scarecrow
Bijou,

Well, the recipe clearly didn't include a bottle! how did you manage to "type" ??
Bijou
Divide two spoons by ten potatoes .. * counts convulsively in his mind * To a fig, in short, it turns out.
Scarecrow
Bijou,

Well, at least it tasted good for you?))
Bijou
Quite.
The taste was slightly unusual, because I am only familiar with the cakes of the factory origin. I think it's all about the overdried biscuit. And for some reason it's very satisfying - having eaten one "potato" I saved on dinner.)) My daughter liked it, my son has not tried it yet, but I suspect he will reject it because of alcohol, and how did I not immediately think? Tomorrow I'll make the second portion, for the teetotalers - half of the biscuit is left.

In general, the feeling that you are eating nuts - well, very much.
Thank you, it turned out to be much easier than I thought all my life.))
Silyavka
Nata, thank you for the recipe. The cake is delicious. I made from a mixture of the simplest biscuit and honey cakes (failed experiments, I decided to dispose of it with your recipe), added a spoonful of brandy, did not add nuts, mine do not like them, rolled in the remains of crumbs.

Silyavka,

Here, too, I look and look today ... We must do it!))
Silyavka
Nata, they are super-duper, even considering that I added a spread instead of butter. I really love these pies, but in the net the recipes were not at all the same, but this one is straight from childhood.
Olga_Ma
SilyavkaElena, and in what silicone mold did you make them?
Silyavka
OlgaThis is not a silicone mold, it is non-stick. It is called "seashells".
Cake Potato
I took a tablespoon of the mixture, shaped it into a cake, and rolled it into the crumbs. I put it in molds and distributed according to size.

Olga, me on "you".

A sponge cake for potatoes can be easily and quickly made in a microwave oven. When I was working out the recipe for biscuit from the microwave, I overexposed it a couple of times (let's say, it takes 7 minutes - and I baked 10, everyone has different microwave powers, so you need to choose for your own). When it cooled down, it turned directly into a brittle crouton. The biscuit was made according to the classic recipe: eggs-sugar-flour-vanilla.
Irinap
Natasha, save you a big, big! Yesterday I baked a cupcake that I can only hammer in nails with it, and then I came across your recipe. Already tried it, Tasty, very tender (yeah, with cream, not milk)
